I've got the Mooer Day Tripper pre amp . I attended a blues night locally took my guitar a small pedalboard with the pre amp on it , cab sim on and plugged into the PA. No amp to haul around and do my back in. It sounded good . Good enough!! No excuses now about not going out to play.!!!
    Verdict : Marvelous !!!

Hi Phil! Quick note. It looks like you have that connected directly to the input of the amp. These are pre-amps, so from what I've read these should actually go to the effects loop to bypass the amp's own pre-amp.
*Edit: I mean when not using the cab simulation.

This is the sort of product that pisses off of Eddie Van Halen big time. He's known to go after companies like this. Hard to enforce outside the USA, but he could get them pulled off Ebay usa, amazon etc. The black graphic striping design.......that being said, it looks like a pretty sweet pedal. Sounds really good.

    • @jacoobyslaps
      @jacoobyslaps 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Robert Adams Guitar amplifiers are comprised of “power amp” and “preamp” sections. This pedal is a “preamp” section of an amplifier in pedal form. They also make a “poweramp” section as well. These are modeled after famous, well known amplifiers and they’re able to be kept on your pedal board, in a small, continent package. Combine the preamp pedal with the power amp pedal and you have an entire guitar amplifier on your pedalboard. With this you can run straight to a PA and not have to worry about a speaker cabinet. Or you can use a cabinet if you want.

I use my pedalboard with an impulse response pedal at the end of my signal chain and I loaded my favorite IR! Would you recommend using a preamp pedal along with this sort of setup I know experimentation is important what's your opinion! I have the Mooer 015 - brown sound .. and even thought my vacuum tube amp has a preamp using the Mooer as clarity the pedals they just sound.. I was wondering if it was applicable to using a pedal board with an Impulse response pedal direct to PA or is it Overkill

  • @cbon0011

Hey Phil, nice video. I have one question about the last configuration (i.e. with the cab sim). I would like to use this pedal as a direct replacement for an amp head, but still want to hear sound coming from behind me on stage. Would it make sense to connect this to a cabinet (ex. 2 x 12), with the cabinet being a stand-in for the PA? Usually there are cabinets wherever we play, but not heads, so i want to avoid carrying around a heavy head everywhere i go.
    Cheers for your comments!

Wow, I'm blown away, can't wait to see the rest of the series. Here's a question, with newer pedals blurring the lines between amp tones and pedal tones, how long before an amp doesn't really make a difference anymore. I know most people would argue the true feel of tubes, but the reality is if most people heard that pedal without seeing it , they couldn't tell the difference. Especially in the hands of a guitarist who plays well and has good touch, tone and feel. Perhaps a future Q&A.

like the other posters have said, these micro (preamps) are made only for the effects loop. firstly if you shove it in the front of the amp you will damage your amp and secondly that is the reason the poor little fucker sounds bad. it is meant to (replace the preamp section of your amp) i have tried all the mooer preamps they are really good (except the 2rock) which doesn't sound to good. the vox clone is very good..........(as long as you connect it the right way round)

But the Mooer is not a distortion pedal. It's a preamp. You are supposed to bypass the amp's preamp but plugging it straight into the power amp (effects return). If Phillip has this running into the front of his amp, then the amp's preamp is colouring the voice of the Mooer, and making this demo kind of useless.

Jestem Genek yes, it is digital. I can not imagine it isn't. But I will open one up in the next video and we all will take a look

No offense but, 5150 sim pedal through actual 5150 seems a bit redundant lol

If it's a pre-amp as well as a cab sim, would it have been nice to have an effects loop as well?
You should be ashamed. Have a Van Halen guitar and you don't play it in this video:)

The effect loop on amps is just a place for pedals between the pre-amp and the power amp. So if your actual amp is clean enough, any pedal after the moor would be in the equivalent of the effects loop.

If it had an effects loop, you could go pre-amp>effects>cab-sim, and then straight into mixer

Which is mostly pointless. Except for personal preferences, you would always place effects after the cab when possible. You only place them before the cab (i.e. in the loop) if the cab is the last link in the chain, which it only is in an unmic'ed situation.

why is it unique. .well thats very simple...its the lord and masters Edward Van halens actual creation that they copied and put into a stomp box

How about I want to play through 3 amps at the same time. What's the best way to do this. A 100 watt tube amp and a couple old Peavey Renowns. I'm looking for a cheap solution because I'm a starving musician. Literally had 2 scoops of ice cream for dinner not sure how I'm gonna pay next months rent. Favorite guitar cost $35 and has gunshot wounds ;-)

Tough question. I hope someone has an answer for you, because out of curiousity, I'd like to know the answer, too. You can play through 2 amps if you have a stereo cab (or two cabs) and an ABY switcher, but I dunno if they make ABCY pedals or something like that.
