Who would ever pay MSRP on any phone in 2024. This phone is an absolute beast. Wireless Charging and Fast Charging at 68w and a 5000 mah battery. First off, nice content 👍🏾. I am 1000% sure that if anyone got their hands on this device (My Moto Edge 2024), whether they're new to Moto Edge phones or had one at some point in time. I'm going to guess the reviewers who hated it were the Samsung Fan Boys who only compared it against the S24 xand not the ones to which it was comparable. Once again a fair and unbiased opinion of an Android phone
I think people take their personal preferences: I want a light phone, I don't like a curved screen. And then they write reviews saying how bad it is, because of things people might like. I don't like curved screens, but it's only a negative for some people. I like lighter phones and I like the leather back. So I'll mention all these things, but I'm not going to write a bad review because of them. Some online reviewers wrote some iffy reviews but they weren't really considering everything fairly in my opinion
Spot on! As an all-around Android fan, it's surprising to see people complain about the simplest things. With my S24, I actually LOVE the vegan leather, much grippier than my current phone!

2 system updates/3 years of security updates is perfectly reasonable for the value of this Motorola phone (assuming you got a deal). I think Motorola and the Samsung A-line series are at the top of the upper midrange phones. I don't put the pixel A-line there simply because the small 6.1" display and poor battery (charging/endurance). I have samsung, motorola and pixel phones.
I would categorize it as an entry-level flagship after doing research the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 is 96% the same as The snapdragon 8 gen 1 chipset both are using The cortex X2 for the prime core, along with 3 cortex a710 for The second part of the chipset architecture
Video calling on this phone sucks. It doesn't matter what app you are using or if your wi-fi is full throttle. The video calls will break up both audibly and visually. This is the second one I have received as I returned my first one in hopes it was the specific device. Nope - this model is incapable of making clear, smooth video call. And honestly, the phone calls aren't so great either.
The reason they do it is because it's subsidizes the cost of the phone. That's how they can give it away for free or 50 bucks or whatever. If you buy it at full MSRP directly from Motorola you won't get all the bloat
It isn't really too much bloatware in my opinion. Its just the general Motorola included apps(Smart Connect, Moto, and 4 or so more); compared to Samsung(who includes both Samsung-native and Google apps in one phone) or iPhone(all apps are preinstalled and you need an iCloud account to remove some of them), it's not as much as Pixel and Motorola use. I get what your saying though!
Yeah this phone at MSRP doesn't make sense but it will almost never be purchased at MSRP. It's kind of like the Moto g stylus which has a list price of 400 bucks but people end up paying 50 bucks or a hundred bucks for it usually with a prepaid carrier. I honestly think the intentionally spike the MSRP to make it easier for carriers to offer discounts that look appealing. Especially compared to the OnePlus 12R which you mentioned. That will give you much better updates and much better chipset and much faster charging and so on. I still think I would probably choose the Moto g stylus 2024 over this since if you're only going to get a couple updates I'd rather save the money. Or go the other direction and wait for the Moto 40 or 50 ultra to drop in price. Even the ones that aren't officially sold in the US you can import giztop. Were they end up on woot brand new for $0.40 on the dollar
I actually agree with your opinion for the most part. Because I am particular don't like a curved screen, I would probably lean towards the Moto G Stylus which is mostly as good as this anyway and cheaper. But if I was someone who really did like a curved screen, I would really like this phone a lot. So it depends on the person. But a lot of people are getting this phone for very cheap at a prepaid. It's crazy to think that pretty much any prepaid that has this phone you're going to get it for like under $200. It's going to be a steal for that

I have a question you may or may not know the answer to: with the vegan leather backs some of these phones have, is there any danger years down the line where the back might get sticky? Ive heard that some phones in the past that used soft touch plastics had issues where after years it broke down and basically became sticky. I'm just wondering if that is possible with a phone like this after years of use.
Yeah I'm not really going to have a great answer for you. Because I haven't really experienced that on any phone. Most of the sticky phones I know about, it's normally because someone didn't take off their case for like 3 years and they find out they spilled something sticky on the inside. Maybe in the long run, the leather might be more susceptible to tears. Like little small scratches or tears in the fabric. But I really can't say what it would be like 3 or 4 or 5 years from now. I do think it will be a very durable material, but it is tough to say
@@AndroidDigest The phones I've seen it happen to were older, like early and mid 2000's. I think it was actually a rubber material, if I remember correctly. Curved screen 👎 Moto Edge 2022 still going strong. Got the Android 14 update a few months ago. Hopefully the Edge 2025 won't have the curved screen. ❤ Motorola. Crushed my Motorola One back in 2019. Tried iPhone SE for a few years, even tried the iPhone 15 Pro for maybe a year. I have no idea why Moto phones are so underrated, I'm loving it.
I love both the synthetic leather and the curved screen. I was looking at it at Best Buy yesterday and I think it looks awesome. I wouldn't buy it because Motorola isn't great with the software support or updates. Now if I could get it cheap or free I might grab it. Unlikely because I've got more phones than I'm ever going to need. Plus I'm already planning on picking up a Pixel 9 and S24+ some time next year 😅
Those are pretty much all of my thoughts. Outside of the curved screen. I'm not a fan of that. But I was able to get the phone for free just had to pay for one month of service. And it still works on t-mobile. Even though I bought it for metro.
I feel like the Nothing phone 2a plus is a much better option at this price. Also has a flat display unlike the edge which I prefer over curved displays
I'd slightly lean towards the Galaxy A35 but I'd say they're definitely equivalent. I prefer a flat screen. That's a major thing to me. The A35 will also get more software updates. Performance is a little more fluid on the Moto. Cameras are probably pretty equal. Higher refresh rate on the Moto. A lot of pros. But those two phones are pretty close. I'd lean Samsung mainly due to software and the screen not being curved. But that's just because I personally dislike the curve. If it wasn't for that I'd go moto for sure
I guess it depends on what phone you are leaving Apple from. Don't leave Apple's $800 to $1,000 phones and then go to a $400 Android and expect the same results. That's all I'll say. It's all about expectations. And I've seen too many people unfamiliar with Android go too cheap and then hate Android for it even though they chose a cheaper phone
I never liked curved screens and it’s too bad bc I like it. I was looking into a S23FE but didn’t like the sharp edge of the aluminum frame (uncomfortable to hold) and might look into the A35 instead. Another thing, there are people out there that don’t care how fast a phone is if you give it a kid or a senior.
That's true. This phone is still pretty fast. For pretty much anyone out there. But I get for someone like you, you're looking for a specific comfort whenever you're holding it. I get why that's important. That's why I try to mention all the pros and cons
I have one and my least favorite thing is definitely the haptics. They're very poor, and even when you turn them all up in settlings, they still don't feel good.
Everything you said about the phone design is just people been pissy about it. The only thing i don't like is the curved display. The optical fingerprint seemed pretty fluid to me. The haptics can be turned off.
I agree 100%. I read a review that had almost all of these cons and I was pretty shocked because I thought most of those things were pros. Outside of just being a little bit slower than an absolute flagship, and outside of having slightly worst cameras, this phone has very little wrong with it. Almost all of the cons are extremely minor and there's just so much good about the phone, especially if you get it for a great price. I got mine from Metro for free and then I was able to use it on T-Mobile still. So this phone is a great deal
The fact that it is hard to put a tempered glass screen protector on. Pretty much no curved screen protectors support them (they will pretend they do but they don't.).
Exactly. It's hard to review it because it's free in some places, $200 in other places, and $550 in others. Either way it's great for the money though and a good phone
When he said fox leather I'm like what? They're using foxes. Then i realized he was trying to say "faux" (as in fake in French). The X is silent and you pronounce it like pho.
I technically pastor a small baptist church in Jackson near the Pocahontas area. Maybe that's not too close to St. Louis, still a couple of hours.. But I enjoy it over here. This is just the best way to support my family and do what I love with tech! But gotta rep the cards!.
@@AndroidDigest it's been a tough year. I know that area. Technically, I'm in Imperial which is about an hour or so north of Jackson. I know some people down there and have plenty of friends who went to SEMO so they know Jackson better than I do! That's a great way to support the family and share in your passions! I love it!

The fact that it is hard to put a tempered glass screen protector on. Pretty much no curved screen protectors support them (they will pretend they do but they don't.).
@@AndroidDigest That makes sense. I never use screen protectors so I had not noticed. Love the phone tho had it 2 months now
It'd be great if Moto made a flagship with a smaller screen size and better sofware updates.
Yeah I'd love that
Bro I'm watching this on the phone in the video
Well I hope you're enjoying it 🤣
go out and touch grass
@jamestillman5247 I just did. Now, what massa?
You can’t beat free
Exactly. It's hard to review it because it's free in some places, $200 in other places, and $550 in others. Either way it's great for the money though and a good phone
A fox leather? I think you are saying it's a faux leather? If so it is pronounced like "foe"
No SD chip 😭 i have 1tb sd card .i almost got this until the no sd thats its downfall
Yeah that's a deal breaker for some
When he said fox leather I'm like what? They're using foxes. Then i realized he was trying to say "faux" (as in fake in French). The X is silent and you pronounce it like pho.
😂😂😂 Yeah I done did messed up 😂😂
Another well made video by Android Digest.
Thank you so much. Seriously
Unrelated, but as a Cardinals fan, I'm loving the hat!
Thanks so much. Live pretty close to st louis
@@AndroidDigest same! In the metro area!
I love it!
At $549.99 no but at $399.99 or less, then yes.
nice specs and decent price BUT I Hate curved screens and motos Lack of updates- Pass for me
I don't blame you
Edge is nice but for the money (full price) nothing touches the one plus 12r
I said that in the review a few times. That the 12r is a better value. If you aren't on a prepaid that is
I got the edge free won't complain pretty decent so far I think metro service makes it look worse than it is tbh
I bought one and sold it back to Metro. I HATE the curved screen. I would rather have the Motorola Stylus 5g 2024.
That's exactly what I would recommend for those that don't want a curved screen. It's great too
No sd card. Thats the one thing they could have over samsung
If you have 256 GB of memory, why would one want a sim?
@@cdraper7277 games, especially my ps2 and gamecube collection.
this phone is great
The OnePlus 12R will outperform this phone for just a little more money with better updates.😊
I shared that quite often throughout the review. But it's complicated because the OnePlus 12R is not on sale at a ton of prepaids for free or for $100
@@AndroidDigest It’ll hold up a little longer with more updates. Would it really kill Motorola to give 2-3 years of updates? That’s the biggest downfall or negative about their phones.
@jedolivier2688 who even keeps their phone more than 2 years anyways.
Everyone Tech Reviewers raved at the edge screens aka curved screens with samsung, but now cry about it. 😂
Do not trust anyone that says Fox Leather instead of Faux (fo) Leather. 😂😂😂
😂😂
i want the curved screen yes lol
Poled screen is plastic alot better on droos
5 second review its basically a prettier pixel 6a very comparable
A better refresh rate, screen, and fingerprint sensor. And it's faster probably. A bigger battery too. I'd say it's better personally
Free metro screen is amazing if said one plus n series was best free not anymore
I Got it Free
Let me tell you something dude nothing in life is for free
I am. need. Too know. My. Phone better too. Use it
Oh for sure. We all do
if I had a dollar for every time you said some people in this video 😄😄
Geez some people
