  • Here is how to make m7, Maj7 Half Dim (or m7b5) and other chords on a Stradella Bass system. I forgot to mention 6th chords in the video but goto my website for a full description and to be able to get a copy of the chart.

    The stradella system is such an amazing thing. You can toot along with a band playing basic basses and chords, even when incredibly inebriated. You can plan grand melodic lines using the bass and counter bass row's and imitate the Alexandrov Ensemble. There is so much one can do, as shown here by George, with a little more theoretical knowledge. Its so simple and easy to use, but also so deep and offers so many complex options. Love it. I had no idea there was this much to the left hand when I picked up my accordion a few months ago.

    Just getting into accordion having mucked around a lot with keyboard/piano and guitar - this is really helpful! Thanks!

    Really fun! I'm so glad you "gave me permission" to play diminished chords with my thumb. I found your channel when I searched for a chart of how to play a (C) major scale on just the bass buttons. Your fingering was so interesting - and different from other instructions I've received - that I had to check out your TH-cam channel. Hope to see a lot more!

    Useful video and charming delivery!
    I was playing around building interesting chords in the left had, thought I'd see if anyone had made a diagram/chart and found your website and this charming video.

      I think there might be a small typo, in the root row you have 1 b3 b5 written on the dim, but listening to my accordion I think it would be 1 b3 bb7 (i.e. 1 b3 6) in that row.

      @@georgeaccordion Hello, George. Great video! There’s only one thing I don’t understand in the chart. Does the dominant chord in the b2 row (Db7 if we’re considering C as the tonic note) really result in 1/b5/#5 when combined with the tonic note? Wouldn’t it be b9/11th/7th? Is it just a typo or is there something I misunderstood? Anyway, thanks very much indeed for the content!

      @@victorcamelomusic Yes it's a typo (or in other words a silly mistake by me) - WELL SPOTTED! I thinkk I should leave that empty as a "not very useful" button. Yes as you state, it's b9, 11 (or 4 if you prefer) and 7. THANK YOU Victor!!!

    CEG + an A is C6 is it not!?!

    • @georgeaccordion
      @georgeaccordion  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! C6 and Am7 are the same chord so the interpretation would come from the bass note played, with an A bass it is a root position Am7 or a third inversion of a C6. You can play a root position C6 by combining C bass and Am chord, this would also be an Am7 first inversion. Further, if you play C and Am chords only you get a C6 or Am7 but the inversion will depend on your instrument....as described in my other video th-cam.com/video/PJk0YmtVArc/w-d-xo.html

      Actually that root position C6 (C bass and Am chord) has no 5th, to make the full chord you need a C major chord as well!
