My mom gave me a dead cowrie shell when i was just a lil kid. I still have it now on my desk.. it's so beautiful i look at it everyday and use it as paperweight 💖

I think in Thailand the word for money comes from the word in Thai for Cowrie as the shells were used as currency in old times.

Cowries don't bite or "sting" like cone snails (they have no harpoons or venom), so you can safely handle them while underwater.

Does the shell grow with them or do they change shells like hermit crabs?

Dammanit. why do I live in Nigeria?
I pick that the papillae help with camouflage.
But the cowries found in Nigeria are the size of my thumbnail how come this one is the size of my brain?
The cowries here in Nigeria where also used as currency back in the 1400's but now they still use them as symbol and necklace.
