I guess this will reduce the need for immigrant care workers and free up hospital beds. However, from a Christian standpoint, the new law is categorically immoral.

If one of my elderly parents ever got sick and did this it would break my heart. I would not want them to do this at all. Human life is precious. I cant ever support this.We are not animals, we are made in the image of God,everything must be done to save human life.

so does it invalidate any insurance already paid if the person effectively ends their own life

    • @melgrant7404

Maybe there will be an insurance amendment to cover this.

Good question. I wonder if that point has been thought through at all? I had a life insurance policy a few years back with a non pay out clause in the event of suicide. I should imagine every life insurance policy going forward will now not pay out in the event of assisted dying. So effectively acting as a deterrent to those wanting assisted dying if they wish to leave money for their nearest.

This is very worrying. Im worried that this will become like Belguim where people can end their lives for mental health. I have mental health problems and at times have wished my life had ended. But then at other times I am grateful for life. Surely life is precious and should not be taken .Because once its gone its gone and cannot be taken back. That is my concern.

I`m for it, but our GPs are so easily coerced nowadays. They hand out sicknotes to people wanting to claim benefits, like confetti. So anyone who`s been depressed for sometime, would the same apply.
