    I have several vise grips I use. After using switchable grips I'll never go back. I'm super picky how my thumb feels and I hate using tape. Yeah its expensive but so are most hobbies.

    My pro shop is telling me that using ITs for pitch variation isn’t a good idea/possible. Can you shed some light on what’s needed to accomplish this?
    I’d like to get a few ITs made so I can throw them back to back to see what feels best instead of plugging and redrilling. Too much time in between to compare. Thank you

    I'm going to be returning to bowling after 13 years and I have an appointment with my local pro shop tomorrow. I think switch grips were only just becoming a thing when I stopped so I will definitely be asking about them when I get re-fitted

    I might add to scribe the pitches into the side of the grip, so there is something to reference when heading to the pro shop to have a new one drilled, or to say my 1/4 reverse 1/8th left does this, my 1/4 forward and 0 LR does this, i need one to do this, etc.
    Also not every pso will install notch to centerline of grip, like they are supposed to be done. Some will align to the direction of the front of the oval of the thumb. So make sure if you go to a new pso that they see the orientation in your arsenal so they can match it or none of your thumbs will be right in that ball.

    Ok so to clarify....left pitch means staying behind it more. Right pitch helps you get around it more?

    Coincidence... i just drilled up a ball yesterday, and we went very different with thumb pitch, tge first change in ages. We made a significant change under. Hope to try it out this week!

    I have to throw at least 6 or 7 shots with my medium grip just to loosen my thumb up to fit my small grip. And that's using ultra glide.

    I used switch grips for the last 6 seasons. Couldn’t keep the tabs from breaking off. Drilled all my new stuff for the season with VISE. Really liked the turbos but just couldn’t get left with broken thumbs any longer. :-/

      No issues with the vise? I was so frustrated the other day when my turbo fell out in the ball return because the tabs break off.

      Joey Torkomian. I’m not sure. I just picked all my equipment up Saturday al I haven’t thrown any yet but in our local establishment most people use vise because that’s what the local proshop uses. But I haven’t seen anybody lose their thumb down lane like I have several times. LoL.

    Just curious if you have ever made a PBA televised event?? Or if not what's the closest you have came? Really impressed with your game & coaching expertise!! This is my first week back bowling after 7 years.. have shot a 180 190 and 223 game not in series in my first week back.. I can tell that your practice sessions are most likely very similar to the ones I had back in the day.. You are the kind of in person coach I need in my life right now lol

    Nice info, thanks ! So pitching the thumb right made you feel better when wanting to use more axis rotation?

    • @Tenpindoctors
      @Tenpindoctors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. Made it easier to rotate around the ball

      @@Tenpindoctors Roger that, thanks. I am still trying to find a fit that helps me get through the swing without feeling the ball will take my thumb with it, or i will have to grab..

      I have two IT, one zero pitch for early games then one 1/4th forward pitch for late games. Makes a different for me as I have a banged up bowling wrist.

      @@Tenpindoctors Do you still use the offset thumb drilling technique?

  • @davehansen2264
    @davehansen2264 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It was my understanding that your pitches are in the ball when drilled. The IT grip is drilled straight or zero/zero because there is not enough room in the slug to make those type of pitches

    • @Tenpindoctors
      @Tenpindoctors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends how your pso did it. Pitches under 1/4" either way your interchangeable mechanism should be pitched at zero

    • @travishanson166
      @travishanson166 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll add that the larger ITs will accommodate up to 1/2" of pitch adjustments in the thumb, allowing the socket to be drilled at 0,0. The smaller the bowler's thumb, the larger the pitches can be in the switch grip itself.

    If I want to be able to swap out my thumb with the interchangeable ones do I need a ball that hasn't been drilled?
    Or can I still have this done to a ball that's thumb has already been drilled? I've wanted to do this for awhile now.
    I just got 3 new balls drilled though so hopefully it's something I'm still able to do to these new balls I just got?

      You don't need a ball undrilled, I've had many balls they had thumbs already style but got them redrilled when I went switch grip
