I used this Coleman stove for many years, taking it. On fishing trips with myself and a friend. We used it a lot for melting lead too, as we made our own sea fishing leads. I don’t recall it ever letting us down. It’s a great little stove. The only down side of this stove is the weight of it. I wouldn’t dream of bikepacking or backpacking with it, it’s for too heavy! Thanks for a good vid.
I like your intro. Seeing this video made me go dig out my yardsale Coleman and do an "unboxing" and a first lighting. It has been in the shed for 2 years, and your video got me to get it out and try. Thank you
Unscrew the pump 2 turns and then pump it! If it's impossible to pump, you haven't unscrewed the pump enough... 2 turns! Yellow flames are a sign of low fuel pressure. Pump it 25 times, light it, give it 30 seconds and then pump it 15 more times. You'll get the bluecflames coming from the burner.
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Aron Lionel Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I love my 533 it is the ultimate stove, worth every penny. Wee tip incase you didn't know, get a spare brass rod (forgot the proper name) for down the line. They soot up and can leave you without a stove untill replaced or cleaned. There's a wire goes through so if it gives yi jip turn the flame control handle back n forth to clear it a bit. Just to save you learning the hard way. The stoves perfect for up here cause not even our wind shal blow it out. Enjoy it. Got mine for 20 bucks, like new. Best buy ever. Take it easy bud.
+Bigfowzy thanks mate i have been looking for about a year for a cheap one on ebay but they are selling for £40 so i just got my self the new one yes your right about the brass rod thing i am only going to be using this for winter most of the time i use open fire or the woodgas stove thanks for watching mate
The 'brass rod' is called a generator, it's the path for the fuel from the tank to the burner and has a jet at the end. There's a wire that runs through it that incrementally opens or restricts the jet to control fuel flow/burn. It can carbon up, especially if you use unleaded fuel or anything besides Coleman fuel/white gas... but the cure is easy. Get some carb cleaner, remove the generator (being careful not to bend the wire as you remove it from the valve), and spray it into the valve end of the generator until it runs from the jet. Move the wire back and forth slightly so that it helps to abrade/remove carbon buildup. In about 30 seconds, you'll loosen the carbon. Spray more to flush the carbon out. Re-assemble, and you're good to go. I've rescued a lot of Coleman stoves I've bought off of eBay that didn't work with this simple trick, without replacing the generator. Oh, and to prevent this, get some Seafoam and put an ounce into the tank when you fill the tank up... it will eat any carbon residue from the generator before it can build up.
Your old one was long bud but you have the new one now do you have josh on facebook bud he is great guy i did the bushcraft bling thing for him great dude
another cracking video Stuart. These stoves are bomb proof. I have 2 single burners and 1 double burner. The single burners are 1 coleman fuel only (unleaded petrol) is 35 year old at least the other single burner2 is a multi fuel one is a superb stove and works great with most fuels I've found with the exception of paraffin only not to good, but this can be overcome by using gel to heat condenser pipe. Not good to use in a tent as you can get the odd flare ups but otherwise really good. The older models never came with carry case. The double burner is a great stove had it 18 years but only gets used when base camping (car camping) to bloody heavy to cart around. The fuel jets can block at times but with the use of a pricker from old paraffin pressure stove the carbon and muck is cleared and burns off easily. Bit heavy to carry when full of fuel compared to gas but super wee stoves. Ive tended to use my Trangia more than the Colemans as of late just because you have the pots and everything together. Think you got a bargain at £45- ok second hand but to buy new I think they are £100ish. If you need a new gasket or other parts you can buy the bits from coleman. Look after it and it will last for years. Wee tip they can soot up and carbon can build put a tiny wee bit of water in with fuel simmalar idea to the Trangia. All the best keep up good work.
good little stoves the colemans, i will get one one day but they are a bit expensive for me at the moment, but great stoves, plus they can run on whatevers in ya fuel tank haha, nice, just noticed you nearly at 700 subs, well done mate, told ya you would rocket up there didn't i, cheers, dave
+Colonelchimp, Bushcraft, Survival and Prepping cheers dave foggy did me a shout out i got over 100 new subs from that but subs is just a number mate i am greatful to the people that watch me video did you see fogs video i was talking to him on facebook about the boar burger mate
+SCOTTISH WANDERER BUSHCRAFT AND WILDCAMPING yeah I was standing right next to him when he took the first bite....his face was a picture. looked like he had an orgasm.haha.
looks like a nice little stove how heavy is it, bet it would be useful in high altitude or really cold conditions where i find normal gas stoves dotn tend to work to well. getting good at lighting birch bark. im off to go and check out out door adventurer and woodsman ocd86.
Coleman stoves are great. I used to use a friends Colman when I was into my big carp fishing and doing a lot of overnight/weekend sessions. Bit pricy for me but maybe one day I'll spot a bargain somewhere. ATV Steve
I have a couple of the old school coleman stoves like that they are great! By the way I did a VR for you in a video that is uploading at the moment it won't be up for a couple hrs its in with other stuff but I hope its ok. Take care! Dawn
+SouthPaw Bushcraft cool dawn it is midnight over here in uk so i am off to bed when i get up with my son at 5 am i will watch it thanks for doing the video atb stuart
I see you've got the hang of using birch bark... well done, mate! Good luck in the GAW)) I like that stove you showed at the beginning though 45 quid looks a bit steep. Thanks for sharing, bro and keep safe out there))
SCOTTISH WANDERER BUSHCRAFT AND WILDCAMPING oh, yeah, man... I do the same thing (though I do smoke but not drink). I use my birthdays and Christmas to buy me gear... I got a lot for my last birthday but still haven't had a chance to show it all off lol
£55 brand new is not to bad as they can still sell for £76 new. I just got my one hardly used in almost new condition for just £19.50 at a car boot sale. Tried it out and works great. 😀
I have a 533 . The box called it a dual fuel stove. Yours said unleaded on the box. You can use the coleman fuel or white gas also. be careful with parafin fuels because when the air gets colder they tend to gum up with wax. With gasoline the jets will gum up eventually. Gasoline is pretty dirty all by its self so the tank will form a layer of varnish on it also. You can keep them clear by using white gas (coleman fuel) or by adding ethanol or methanol stove fuel to the gasoline. 10 to 25 percent should be good. (once in a while) The methanol or ethanol is a superior parts cleaning solvent. Adding something to the fuel (occasionally) is much easier than taking the stove apart to clean it up. You should empty the fuel out of the stove if you are going to store it for more than a month also for the same reasons. the fuel gets gummy and stale in the tank. It will still burn but it will gunk up the small metering parts that make the stove work right.
NP I use my stove outdoors. Mainly to melt lead for fishing weights. It is also part of my snow melting kit for my winter vehicle. at somewhere between 10 thousand and 15 thousand BTUs it is a very capable heat source.
It fits quite nicely inside a large (16cm) zebra billy can, albeit you have to take out the zebra's pan section. I keep them all together as a loose assembly

BigFowzy - Silverback Sessions that happens with unleaded petral but you can buy the refined stuff online.
