Pro tip- use a razor blade/ exacto knife to cut the fur instead of the scissors. The blade will cut the backing and not the fur so there won’t be any stragglers of cut fur floating in the air.

Here is another tip from a professional drag costumer! Yes, the thick fur is a pain, but you can sew a project like this even Faster and Easier if instead of a straight stitch with a seam allowance, you do a zigzag stitch over the edge of the fabric, leaving NO seam allowance to trim away! And since you are basically just butting the peices of the base fabric together edge to edge, the seam will be invisible after you brush the hair!

The result is fab-u-lous! Using the longer fur, taking your time to tuck the fur into the middle of the stole while stitching, and brushing out the fur in the seams really made the end result magnificent. Your suggestion to use a heavy duty needle and thread is important. Thanks for those tips! Keep up your fantastic posts!

fun tip! if you slice the back of the pile with a razor, you avoid snipping through the pile, or fluffy fly aways from ripping, love this tutorial too super helpful. you should do a mini series "making blah blah for dummies" your tutorials are so easy to follow

Well hun.... I don't do faux fur.... I do refurbish old vintage fur... so I got a wedding this weekend and I have an old fox fur that no longer able to use as a jacket so, I pulled the seams apart, and im gonna try this pattern, ill do a video to see how it turns out.... Canadian winter is freezing so amen to fur. And I reuse refurbish before I buy new furs. Xo

try using binder clips to hold the fabric together. they are cheap, and easier than pins, especially with thicker fabric like this
