I completely agree. Since it wasn’t a hit, it is to long to play at concerts, and it’s hard on Bryan’s voice. Heard it from with my own ears, All the Roxy men were amazing to meet maybe 24 years ago, friends it felt like yesterday.
Probably the most unique British band that we have ever had.. And coupled with one of the strangest front lead vocalists who exudes his own unique charisma
Sadly, this tour was the only time I caught Roxy live. I won a bet about 'Manifesto' being the opener. The show was priceless. Just a primo rock-n-roll band, flawlessly played. And of course Mr Ferry is soaked in Cool,
Ditto . I was at the Bristol Hippodrome same year . Yes . This WAS the opener . I remember it like it was yesterday . I was resigned to Roxy not releasing any more music and me not seeing them " Live " .It had been over 3 years with no new music . However , Manifesto changed all that !!
I saw this show in Toronto at Massey Hall. Same opening. He staggered from Stage Right after that bass opening in that red suit. I have seen perhaps 1000 concerts and this was one of the best. Band was firing on all cylinders. I will see them when they play this year.
The opening in Omaha was Manifesto and Trash. The encores were Remake/Remodel and Do The Strand. It was broadcast live on The King Biscuit Flour Hour. They were fucking spectacular. I was right against the stage. It was the best concert I ever saw. They were in top form that night and The Music Box was packed.
Alan Spenner came up with the coolest best bass lines ive ever heard ...those diminished quads ..? are spectacular...goosebumps...Thank you for the tip , I always wondered who it was...
Set opener on most '79 US tour dates. At the show I saw in Baltimore it was nearly 7 minutes long, (I had a bootleg tape) and blew this one out of the water. Still probably the best tune on the "Manifesto" album, and closest to the "old Roxy" sound.
Miss this band, saw them different times in germany, first when i was 17 at a festival in Hannover, together with Canned Heat + others. Now i`am 52, where is the time gone ?
I saw this tour at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in 1979 and it was amazing. I saw RM at the Universal Amphitheater for the Avalon tour and the the 50th Anniversary tour at the Forum and in between I saw Ferry at least a dozen times. 1988 Mamouna tour at the Santa Barbara Bowl and again in 2014.
Saw this exact show line up in Boston in 1979 when the LP came out they did the same opening and then played the LP then their hits Front Row Balcony such perfection in the music.
Oh dear David Byrne ? How did he come into it ? If talking Heads were playing in my back garden I wouldn't bother opening the curtains ! Now for more Roxy....
Roxy Music was very speclal.. To special for me at that time , the beginning of 70-s. For me everything was Roling Stones. But now when I am 77 I discoverd R.M and Bryan Ferry. He has a wonderful voice, he has everything - but not me
I saw this on the Liverpool Empire.1979 Bass player was Gary Tibbs as far as I can remember. Bought a program on the way in and it became every instrument on stage(drums mainly). In tatters at the end of the gig.
The 2-disc "Concerto" release is from the '79 tour -- Denver, specifically -- and kicks off with Manifesto...a great opener. Appreciate the posting, Robbo61!
I bought a couple of programs at the concert in Manchester in 1979, intending to preserve at least one of them in mint condition - I hope they were not amongst the stuff my mother chucked out when I went away to Uni, or that which she moved into a damp garage - guess I may never know without trawling through all my stuff.
My current music collection probably features 10 each of empty jewel boxes and vinyl sleeves. It's probably just a natural consequence of having moved maybe a dozen times between the ages of 20 and 31. Eh. I comfort myself with the fact that I was fortunate enough to usually room and hang out with worthwhile people and the MIAs are in good hands.
@silverfinger He was most likely drunk. They are both great but unique to themselves. I think Ferry is less commercialized as well as more interesting.
That's not a Tom Ford suit. It's English designer Antony Price, who did almost all of BF's clothes through the 70s and beyond. Check out Duran Duran's Rio for more AP suits in even more insane colors
bill gedeon Hey Bill, I played in a band from Boston called the Atlantics and we had the honor of being Roxy Music's opening act for most of the Manifesto tour, INCLUDING the show you saw ...It was was the best time of my life.
This is easily the best track on Manifesto, and the most overlooked.

Same here!

Watched this video already 50 times and i can't get enough of it! Gary Tibbs on bass is perfect. His the best roxy have ever had !
I was in the crowd back in the day at the Apollo. Became a Roxy Fan that night for sure.
I saw this show in Toronto at Massey Hall. Same opening. He staggered from Stage Right after that bass opening in that red suit. I have seen perhaps 1000 concerts and this was one of the best. Band was firing on all cylinders. I will see them when they play this year.
I was also at the Massey Hall concert. Unforgettable!!! I will also be at the September 7, 2022 concert.
I was there. This was one of the first concerts I ever went to.
The best British band ever
Peter Tulip yes they are
Well, after Tull
Fantastic! An underrated track from an amazing band.
What a voice Mr Ferry is blessed with. Unique.
This is Roxy Music...at their best
Gary Tibbs holding the bass figure. He' s amazing.
The album that finally overcame my Roxy prejudice. Good live sound; brilliant bass work from GT.
Alan Spenner came up with the coolest best bass lines ive ever heard ...those diminished quads ..? are spectacular...goosebumps...Thank you for the tip , I always wondered who it was...
Bryan Ferry is one of the best lyrics of his generation
Roxy music as always Exquisite, you will never get a group of musical geniuses together like this again.👏 💪 ✌.

MAGISTRAL ; tout est parfait le chant la musique mème la tenue vestimentaire et ce p. de saxophone qui n ' arrète pas de pleurer.Génial .
In a word, superb!
Still love this - So special - :) x
Bryan and Roxy Music in top form here! That red suit very hot!
Saw them live, performing this in Brussels. Bryan is wearing a sharkskin suit. The epitome of cool.
they are awesome !!! rock it baby !
I was at the Palladium that Spring. What a show.

A superb comeback album!
I was at the Newcastle gig in 79 and when he strolled on when Manzenera started banging the chords out it was such a memorable moment.
SING IT SPOCK!!!!.....just joshin', luv Roxy and BF
Best of the best....
Oh dear David Byrne ? How did he come into it ? If talking Heads were playing in my back garden I wouldn't bother opening the curtains ! Now for more Roxy....
MrPomdownunder David Byrne was heavily influenced by Roxy Music.
I knew, after about 3 songs, the other night, that Brian Ferry couldn't and wouldn't sing Manifesto in 2022. Still a brilliant concert.
love the eyes
Roxy Music was very speclal.. To special for me at that time , the beginning of 70-s. For me everything was Roling Stones. But now when I am 77 I discoverd R.M and Bryan Ferry. He has a wonderful voice, he has everything - but not me
Ditto. Bowie in 78, Iggy and Roxy in 79. Good days.
I saw them on the Manifesto tour in 1979 in Liverpool!
Style with substance.
one of the first ROXY albums I bought.... right after For Your Pleasure. brilliant!
One of my fave roxy songs but it always sounds like it's playing slow lol
Title track from Roxy's 1979 album. (their comeback after 3 year hiatus). Excellent.
GREAT!
tight song. I love the Manifesto album! Classic Ferry..
What an inspirational band.
I saw this on the Liverpool Empire.1979 Bass player was Gary Tibbs as far as I can remember. Bought a program on the way in and it became every instrument on stage(drums mainly). In tatters at the end of the gig.
Nice one Robbo, haven't seen this video for ages
Opening Number November 1979 TOUR@ The Tower Theater Philadelphia
the intro was AT LEAST 5 MINS LONG>>>>AS ALWAYS THEY ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT WOW
The 2-disc "Concerto" release is from the '79 tour -- Denver, specifically -- and kicks off with Manifesto...a great opener. Appreciate the posting, Robbo61!
I was there
It's the B side of Over You, great track. Bring it home, Timmy.
I have that concert on CD. Manifesto is the best song on it.
oh i loved gary tibbs in the day, he brought alot to roxy music, so sexy and such a fantastic bass player, these are for you gary xxxx
Sure they do, look around! The music does not stop because one band retires!!
spock!! spock indeed!! now that made me laugh out loud, great song from a great band, from a great era.
sublime
Good as Hell !!!!!!
How can you dislike this ?
Yeah man
fantastic
I also saw them do this at the Liverpool Empire in 1979. I'm sure they opened the gig with it. Then on to the Checkmate in town.
Gary Tibbs on bass...
The Vibrators
Adam & The Ants
The Fixx
yes i know this is David Skinner. But on the album it's Alan Spanner/Paul Carrack on keyboards...
Class
I bought a couple of programs at the concert in Manchester in 1979, intending to preserve at least one of them in mint condition - I hope they were not amongst the stuff my mother chucked out when I went away to Uni, or that which she moved into a damp garage - guess I may never know without trawling through all my stuff.

I came close to blows with a dude who said to me that Brian Ferry was a poor man's Bowie.
John Boyle Bowie was not a patch on Ferry. Virginia Plain changed my whole outlook on music.
Awesome
@mashamorgan I saw them in Liverpool in 79 doing this. Great stuff!
Bryan Ferry has the kavorka.
The guy on keyboard is David skinner. He didn't play with Ferry that long.
superb they just don't make music like this any more !
Cette tournée est passé par Paris, j'y étais !
@jeehannes I'm trying to find it too! I think it might be on the Thrill of It All boxset... might be able to get a used copy pretty cheap.
Lead song of the album, named the same name
@fidomusic bless you!
No it's Gary Tibbs. Alan Spenner is an Keyboard/synth. player. Look for Gary tibbs on google...
Gosh! Bryan's make-up is scary!
He looks ridiculous around this time. But that's not so important.
The bass here rocks.
Very Kraftwerk.
Is that GARY TIBBS on bass? Not familiar with his looks. Saw TIBBS with ROXY MUSIC in NYC.
I can see where Bowie got 'Lodger' from.
Ferry spock and coke era
If Tony Montana and a Romulan had a child....
OMG!!!
@silverfinger He was most likely drunk. They are both great but unique to themselves. I think Ferry is less commercialized as well as more interesting.
what kind of headphones is that paul thomson's head
You can almost taste lady cocaine from this performance haha. Anyone know what kind of suit he is wearing? I would kill for one.
Tom Ford / Gucci
That's not a Tom Ford suit. It's English designer Antony Price, who did almost all of BF's clothes through the 70s and beyond. Check out Duran Duran's Rio for more AP suits in even more insane colors
Paul!!
the great thompson was the best drummer when he went the band was not the same to many week drummers after that and thats the truth lads,
@Kubrickfan1 You are obviously a super intelligent person to like both Roxy Music and Stanley Kubrick :-)
What is the name of this song? I know it's from the album. Manifesto. Please do tell.
whos the bass player. awesome
Gary Tibbs
bowie is a poor man's man.
The Fu Manchu Ferry look
Manifesto ;)
hk459: might be a workers manifesto!
its me,or the "man that drives the hammer" has a sexual innuendo on it?..
the great paul thompsons last album with roxy music after that they went to the pack not the same
saw this show richfield coliseum, cleveland--Bryan Ferry's delayed entrance, brilliant..
bill gedeon Hey Bill, I played in a band from Boston called the Atlantics and we had the honor of being Roxy Music's opening act for most of the Manifesto tour, INCLUDING the show you saw ...It was was the best time of my life.
r fernandes I remember..How could I forget..The WHOLE show was great..Thanks!!..
