This is a all in one controller and i love it. This video only brings out negative things imo. If your a bedroom Dj or if you have a small bar/club you will be happy with this controller.
Thank you for this. I was so ready to pull the trigger on this one in white since it’s available now and cancel my place in line for the rev7 and I changed my mind
Rx3!!!!! If you need to practice go to a dj school and book some hours to practice with cdj… but for home/practice/small events go with rx3! I have the ddj1000 and i really enjoy the 1000 and i know how to play on cdj/djm and even controllers (being dj since 2009) and i would for sure go with rx3…
Beat jump by 1/2 can be useful is you miss a cue point. I also randomly played a track that had a random 2 beat sound effect in-between phrases recently, completely threw me, 2 beat jump forward for me got me back on track.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the cdj 2000nxs2 got a firmware update for beatjumping - can go up to 64 now. I don't know if they will do it for the xz but just saying ☺️ Also the 3 beat loop it's great for polyrhythmic loops. But I agree I think it should be customisable. I dont know why more of it isn't customisable anyway.
I had to return mine the fact that it’s a stand alone controller you can’t change your CFX. You lose out on banks as you did for beat jumps. To limited for the price you pay so I went back to DDJ 1000. Pioneer is due for a new DDJ 1000 for rekordbox. I’ll just wait it out.
Thanks, was close to bye this right now, but now im not so shore 😮 Have a tought of taking up the dj after 25 years, and looking for a budget at home. This or the Flx 10 it stands between. Thanks and greetings from Sweden 🎉
Hey man i got a question: Ive been using a DJM 900 NXS 2 and 2 XDJ‘s 1000 MK2. Im looking to downsize to a XDJ XZ. What is your opinion on the unit. Do i get sorta equal functions? (I know theres no return channel and only one screen.)
@babijii I was having trouble with it for the first few weeks but after a while it started working fine, all my firmware was updated at the time just took a while to warm up
So if someone's trying to get a four-channel system that will allow them to do a little bit of everything and that everyone will like. What should I get? We all know they say that Pioneers is the industry standard. Then a lot of us also hear that The Denon Prime 4 has the most features and options ??
If you link a DCJ 2000 or 3000 to this one you have no problem using the 4 channel mixer. The only problem is that you have to use the USB input on deck 3 or 4 to get to music on to the controller. This review only brings out negative things and make it sound so bad when its not. Most Djs only use 2 decks anyway imo.
Hey! Thank you for your video! Good thought in short time! But can not agree with your idea about "digital in" and cdj 3000. Actually - Its right opposite. If you would able to send digital singnal to xz it would mean that sound will be converter by unit (xz). When you use rca - signal already converted by cdj3000, analogue will be analogue. So you can have benefits of better converter. And if we are here - what makes me interesting cause never have chance to compare xz vs rx2 for example in sound, by using 3rd mixer - with same volume and same track - is it have sound difference? We did compare many units with group of people, and rx2 sound was on same level as NI s2 controller or xone k2, while cdj2000nxs2 was sound way better (denon prime 4 was on exact level). Top sound from our tests cames from Benchmark Dac2, but this completely another device - but 10 people in blind test clearly heard same result. So if you know how xz sounds compare rx2 let me know, please! Greetz from Thailand!;)
Why he mentioned the digital in is because all the sound processing on the pioneer dj equipment is digital. Thats means yes you have a high resolution conversion to analog from the cdj 3000, but the xdj xz converts it back to digital and the to analog for then mains output again with worse quality converters.
@@Mataeli we talking about djm900nxs2 (or any other which have digital in and out) as mixer - i am not sure it convert all signals to digital again. (in xz case this looks more real) i know djm900 is not analog mixer - but it might work if you put analog signal - it does not have any re-converting chain and it will keep signal how it is. by other words - if what you say true - you can not hear difference between cdj3000 and cdj2000 (or whatever) becuase mixer is reconverting every signal. If you can hear difference - then it is reconverting everything - only digital. As far i know you can hear difference and cdj3000 sounds better then cdj 2000 (i guess most people compare it on pioneer mixers - not analog a&h92 or something) So after all better to send signal from cdj3000 by analog to your mixer to use benefits of better convertor. cheers!
There's nothing that you're saying is incorrect, but I feel like you're being a little bit harsh on it considering the price. They've got to make compromises somewhere. Also you mentioned hooking up an RMX 1000 and losing the benefit of the XLR outs, If you want to go down that route you could always get XLR to TRS cables. You wouldn't be losing the balanced audio that way. Pioneer also have documentation for connecting a DDJ1000. The idea is basically you hook it up to the unbalanced send out, and then back into channel 3 or 4.
Another issue I run into with the xdj-xz, it only has x2 usb inputs ,, no other media inputs unless you hook up a laptop,, when throwing events , the djs want to record their sets,, you only have one usb slot so you have to fade the music out between sets and you cannot record a b2b set, without an external recorder,, meanwhile the prime 4 has x 6 media inputs.
The thing is some of the stuff you say are solid, but you're way off because you don't take into consideration other genres of music (usually more experimental) and you just state your opinion for your OWN play style. For example the use of a 1/4 beat roll actually makes a lot of sense being used in techno.
People who complain about this unit, are the ones who simply cant afford it.... so they bitch and cry on social media.... At the end of the day you use what is comfortable for you and your pocket...... if you can afford the XDJ XZ then buy it .... if you cant then thats no problem at all
Subscribe to my channel and you'll see that I owned 3000s and 900 nexus 2 forlb over a yearnand sold. I have another lair of 3000s and V10 on their way.
Iv had the XDJ XZ for 3 years now, and it's been amazing. Would recommend this unit to anyone.
Reliable and professional for a realistic & fair price.

1/3 and 3/4 can be wonderful for DJs with any semblance of musical creativity.
Yup, like mixing into another genre.
Thank you for this. I was so ready to pull the trigger on this one in white since it’s available now and cancel my place in line for the rev7 and I changed my mind
Which one would you recommend between the rx3 and the xz . My main aim is that i can seamlessly transition between a home setup and club setup.
I'd recommend 2 xdj 1000mk2s and a Djm 750 MK2 To be honest.

I would say xz. Emulates cdj club system. Best. Exactly like a 900 nexus 2
I’m sorry, what do you mean by digital I/O, like for what application? I’m an audio engineer but not familiar with DJ setups
Beat jump by 1/2 can be useful is you miss a cue point. I also randomly played a track that had a random 2 beat sound effect in-between phrases recently, completely threw me, 2 beat jump forward for me got me back on track.
Do you think it makes sense to get the XZ used for 3 years for 2000 euros?

Xz isn't you need to plug anything in. Prime.4 if you want to mix 4decks and have streaming and better controller for virtual dj
Does anyone else think that the channel trims are kinda weak? I usually have to push them hard to get suitably loud when using turntables.
nope. it all depends on the level of the track being played, that's the whole point of trim (or gain)
Does this have a fader curve adjustment option ?

This video should be title “ Nitpicking with DJ Waaaambulance! “
@@Carmai7 congratulations.. you win the "Witty Comment Award" did A.I. help you with that?
these are definitely the vibes, so glad there's a way to beat jump through the video ;)

If you already have a decent computer I would do an flx 10 but if you need stand alone this is the best one to buy
TheDjLab, what is your ideal DJing controller/device? Like, what would you recommend over this thing? Or is there not 1 single one?
Hard to pick just one . Prime 4 is definitely up there in the list.
So I can’t customize the pads in rekordbox like I can on my ddj1000?
The CDJ RCA output is the only way to use the DAC. The SPDIF output bypasses the DAC.
would this still be an upgrade from a DDJ 1000?
Only if you need a standalone unit

My xdj rx mixer shits all over my xz. Really disappointed in the mixer with the limiter spiking when I cancel the low end out of a track
Is this a common thing?? Is ur firmware up to date

Honestly the sz is still my fav

For one Nexus turntable it's as much as the whole system so I guess it won't compare. Would you go Pioneer xdj-xz or Denon Prime?

Actually never realize this your correct c'mon pioneer get it right
Prime 4 is a better all around standalone DJ console..
Hell in my opinion even the Prime 2 is better than this
Yeah Denon Prime 4 is amazing! Price vs value is off the roof!!!
Is it good for practicing at home for club systems?
Xdjxz is better to practice. Mixer is identical to 900 nexus 2
When I naught the prime 4 it’s froze a lot and would not boot up. And it was had the newest firmware version and it kept sticking and freezing

Fractional beat loops are great in slip mode and tighter than the efx
I find the Jogs a bit clunky.. anyone agree?
no, they're exactly the same as the CDJ2000NXS2
