I've been trying to find a good tutorial video on water colour for months. And I'm really happy to say that finally I have got one. Very helpful video. Thanks.
I reallyyyy need this tutorial/tips omg! You made the clearest steps and showing us how to execute it in a very easy way to understand!! Thank youuuuuu
Not all great artists are great teachers, but you're both! Thank you for sharing this information - it's been so helpful! I'd love to see a video on how different lighting situations affect colors in the environment (ex: how does a rainy day affect the color of distant grassy hillsides, tree foliage, etc.). Usually teachers show grasses and trees on a sunny day, so it would be great to see some different lighting situations!
@@lorrainewatry_watercolors Can you do a video on painting flowers - a suggestion of them, not detailed painting? Sort of like the grass video but with flowers.
Oh my god! I was trying to find a grass video with water colors, because mine wasn’t turning out how yours did! Thank you so much, and yours is so beautiful ❤️👏
Really nice tutorial. I like the inclusion of positive and negative space. Gives the image a more painterly but still sophisticated look.Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent.
Hi Mary, sometimes I dip my brush to clean it and if it is a staining color, it can take longer to get out. Other times, I'm am trying to think and it has become a habit. :>)
The Stephen Quiller palettes are available at most online art stores like Cheap Joes, Dick Blick, or Jerry's Artarama. It will depend on where you live, where you might be able to find it.
Tip idea: how do you correct (& avoid in the first place) overlapping edges. I either get white gaps between sections, or try really hard to only paint within the border I'm painting but of course always screw up some. Then I have unsightly overlapping edges because of the transparency of the paints. Like when putting in a background around a still life. Or putting in a river/stream and the banks/land around each side. It doesn't seem to matter what part i complete first, i always get random messy edges caused by either the uneven random overlaps or missed white parts or both. One solution I've found is trying to bleed the edges of foreground/background together a bit, but if it's not done well it just adds to the overall messiness of the edges (& often it's not the right thing to use for a given border within the painting). Maybe it's just a matter length of experience with handling the brush & after enough practice those perfect edges just come natural?

Just what I needed. Thanks for the excellent tutorial. Now, to practice, practice, practice.
Thanks Bonnie! Good luck and enjoy the process.

May I ask wheredid you buy that pallet? I love the idea of placing the colors in the color cycle
It is a Stephen Quiller palette and they can be purchased through most online art supply stores and possibly even Amazon.
I think the best looking, and more realistic grass, is the one painted with the rake brush on the right lower side
Thanks. Yes, some tools make better looking grass.

Why do you dip your brush so much in the water?

Hi Jen, good suggestion. I will add it to my list.
I love your work. This video is hard to see with your camera so far from the work.
Sorry about that. I'm always trying to refine my video process.
Which brush are you using ?
I use the Silver brand, Black Velvet series.
Painting of ground that is with sand
Thanks Nino. I will add that to my video list.
Trees
Thanks Martha. I will put trees on my video list. It's been a while since I have had the time to make a video. Hopefully soon.
