Final Fantasy XV Additional chapters Gladiolus

No matter if you like the game or not, Final Fantasy XV is a huge game. It might see barren at some points, but nonetheless it has a lot of content if you are the completionist type. One of the additional unlockable features are "Episodes" devoted to a specific member of Nocto's entourage. Thus, Royal Edition of the game adds three such episodes devoted respectively to Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto (each DLC can be purchased individually as well), with the last similar DLC being Episode Ardyn that is not included in the Royal Edition. I read on the Internet that Episode Gladiolus is the first one you should play from a chronological perspective. Remember that one point during the story when Gladiolus all of a sudden approaches Noctis and says that he must leave the party for a while because there is something he needs to do? Well, this DLC sheds light on Gladio's little errand.
After being overpowered by Ravus Nox Fleuret, Gladiolus worries that he is too weak to protect Prince Noctis. That is why when the rest of the party searches for mythril, accompanied by Aranea. Gladio visits ancient ruins in order to defeat the so-called Blademaster.
All in all, this DLC is a simple, corridor-based hack'n'slash. The combat system is slightly changed and simplified and the whole thing can be completed in about one hour. Is it any good? Story-wise, I did not really care because Gladio is a pretty unstable character and his strive for becoming the worthy "king's man" is kind of far-fetched. Gameplay-wise, it is average. By "average" I mean that if they made a whole new game like this, it would be a mediocre action adventure game - AND IT IS NOT A BAD THING. In times when every new major release is announced as or expected to be the real big thing in the game industry, we sometimes need to munch several "ok" titles, that are straight to the point and do not waste your time with all the flashy and completely unnecessary promises.
