Do you mind letting me know the amount of fuel you used between Birdsville and Dalhousie? And perhaps a starting tyre pressure to adjust up or down based on what we find (I know this one depends a lot on the vehicle and load)?
Hi Glenn, Thanks for the positive feedback. May is a great time to hit the Simpson, tracks are not chewed up, just bring the fly nets in case the flies are heavy. We averaged around 5-5.5 km/L in the 80 Series 4.2 turbo diesel. In all honesty, you just idle over the tracks with a bit of revving on some dunes. I was running around 21psi in the rear and 19psi in the front to balance the tyre compression (rear was heavily weighted). Those pressures were set out at Big Red, so the actual cold pressures would have been at least 2psi lower. Cheers
