I don't understand their language, but I do understand the horse's movement of entrapment and wanting free range.
If that stallion wanted freedom he could of jumped over that 2ft barrier at any time.during turnout
Uncle describes in the beginning that the horse is very calm, tempered and we'll mannered and has never needed to be sedated despite his power and size.

Oh noooo! Why did you fast forward every time the horse was at liberty! It made it look like it had some sort of hoof disease causing it to take very short stilted steps. I really wanted to see it's natural trot and canter, there was one brief trot moment in real time in the trot and the trot looks not bad at all. Come we need another video.

@@riverp9019 maybe it’s what Marwari gaits look like?? I’m not familiar with anything other than their ears. I wouldn’t think the most well known stallion would have that. Wish I could understand the language to know more!
@@takethevongwayhome Rachel yah, you wouldn't think so. When I see others move on the net (I've also seen them in India in Rajasthan) it appears to be their movement is quite variable. Often with a pacing gate when ridden but that mostly vanishes at liberty. When ridden the gate can almost appear ataxic, a jumble of uncoordinated legs. I'm not sure if this gate is genetic or the way they're being ridden which is it must be said very different to how horses are generally ridden in the West. However I've also seen some nice examples being ridden "normally" and some do have three very nice gates with good natural extension unlike this example perhaps, if it's not speeded up. I still think it might be though. If it's not it could also be a shoeing problem or the way the foot has been allowed to grow. To us this looks like it has chronic collapsed heels or foot disease. The way they move is also it seems dependent on the recent improvement breeds used as the type Marwari varies considerably. The ears being the constant which is defining but probably a curse in having been solely selected for* Very obvious influences are the Arab, TB and historically the Mongolian pony which does have extreme stilted gaits but thats a very small pony so relatively speaking maybe not so stilted. So they can have extremely short backs and an Arab like gate or quite straight TB movement and longer lined, the short coupled ones are better but for me too much Arab. The more recent the influence the better they move. The stallions to my eye anyway do not seem the best material, many for example being extremely sway backed. Some of the mares though are much better as foundations but good ones are also rare. Many in the breed generally have extremely poor conformation, weedy, very narrow fronts, almost no chest, weak bone, cow hocked, toes out, poor loin muscling and weak hinds, swan necks, U-necks etc etc. There seems to me to be a danger in accepting the many faults as characteristics, the standard, because this is just so common. I've yet to read a standard that isn't extremely vague, just describing some historic character mostly. It would be nice to understand what is being said however I have a feeling different emphasises and criteria are looked for than what we look for in the West anyway. The ideal beauty desired might not be the necessary criteria we place on functional improvement in most cases. Pertinent to this discussion is if not speeded up, why would anyone breed for an extremely stilted gate anyway? Donkey steps on a horse? This horse would have a gate nearing that anyway even in normal speed just not quite this bad. Then again could be management issues too, horse kept for long periods without adequate movement can do terrible things to joints..In my opinion the basic conformation should be correct whatever the breed, no such thing as classic faults being breed characteristics, like front legs coming out of one hole, faults are faults are faults. Interestingly the genetics for turned in ears a defining characteristic of the Marwari and Kathiawar horses are caused by a genetic deviation causing malformations of the inner ear, congenital Aural atresia in humans. Mice with the same ear deformity also have the same inner ear malformation (Ann Otol Rhinol Laryngol. 1955) The appearance of those inward pointing ears defines a lack of a broad enough gene pool at some point.
