Hi Carla! It was great to catch up with you. You have made so much progress on the afghan. It will be such a nice heirloom when finished. You have done great on your Make 9 boards. After all, you had 3 of them! That’s a lot. Currently, I’m doing some gift knitting and gift crocheting like bookmarks and dishcloths. Have a great week
Hi Carla. I love seeing your afghan that you’re finishing for Jeff, it will be such a special gift. I’m looking forward to seeing the Christmas afghan come to life.
Hi Carla, thank you for another great episode. Your blanket is truly an heirloom. I love that you are finishing the project. I am sure that Jeff’s grandma would be so pleased. The holiday blanket project looks like it will be great fun. I am excited to see your progress as you go. Sending you peaceful thoughts my friend. ✌️☮️❤
Hi Darcy, thank you for sending peaceful thoughts my way - they are much needed. I started watching your podcast this morning (when a student didn't come for a lesson🤣) and I enjoyed hearing about your trip - it sounded like so much fun! I look forward to finishing it later! Take care!!❤
❤morning carla,,,, Glad to knit on socks while visiting with you,,,so nice,, Love ur moms socks,,, And the wool from wool warehouse looks great,,,,🎉 I have ordered from them ,they are great,, ELAINE 🏠💗
Hi Elaine! This was my first time buying from the wool warehouse - I agree, they are a great company. A very selection of yarns and very reasonable prices. Hope you're doing well on your gift sock knitting!😃
Carla, your Make Nine progress was remarkable! No reason to feel less than victorious about your success! You likely used more stash than you would have with no plan in mind! I've been working through a bin of donated cotton yarn for multiple years - dishcloths (for gifts) and soap sacks from the scraps (for charity). It seems to be a bottomless bin!!. But I just keep going with it and enjoy the making and giving.
Hi Louann! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I think you are probably right that having a plan did help me work through stash. I need to remember that this is a hobby and I just need to enjoy it!! ☺
You are really moving along on the blue afghan! I remember when you were first thinking about working on it and you had to figure out where she was in the pattern. It looks beautiful, and it will be a great heirloom. Your new upcoming blanket looks like a lot of fun too. Enjoy.
Hi Beth! I keep plugging away at it - I got three rows in today. I'm very happy with how it's turning out. I'm really excited to start on the Christmas afghan. I'm telling myself to at least finish the bottom hem of the sweater before I start. We'll see...😆
Wow Carla, you've been busy. I can't wait to see the finished afghan, it's looking so beautiful and how exciting that the finish line is in sight. It was good seeing you tonight as I worked on my Journey Cardigan. I put it down this summer and just picked it up again last night, sleeves and a button band in aran weight should go rather quickly if I can channel my inner Carla and stay on track😄
Hi Amy!! Good for you for picking back up your cardigan!! I need to channel MY inner Carla to pick up the button band on the Felix cardigan!!🤣Take care!!☺
Enjoyed another episode. As usual I love your projects. I immediately had to pause and check out Wool Warehouse. Can’t wait until I need to order some sock yarn. Your the 2nd person this week that has mentioned Yarnsmiths.
Hi Britnee!! I had heard of Wool Warehouse before, but didn't check it out until I was looking at the yarn for the Christmas afghan. They have a pretty large selection of yarn and really good prices and FAST shipping!! Hope you're doing well!!❤
Hi Carla & thank you for another lovely episode! Your WIPs are beautiful, and what a very special gift to your husband his grandma's afghan is going to be! I'm hoping to really bust a good portion of my yarn stash next year. We will see how that goes, LOL... For now, I would be happy to get a few more WIPs off my needles before the end of the year. Can't wait to see how your 'Christmas gifts' crochet blanket turns out! Looks like it would be a great advent project, too! Happy knitting & crocheting!
Hi Wendy!! Thank you!! Good luck to you with your stash plans for next year and finishing some WIPs!! I started on the Christmas gifts crochet afghan and am loving it - so much fun!! Take care!!☺
I bough the ikea cabinets many years ago that have the glass doors. My yarn used to fit in two of them, but not anymore! I recently bought clear vinyl cubes from Amazon that have zippers and handles. I have put my yarn in them to put on the shelves because whenever I opened the glass doors, something would fall out. I can still see my yarn through the vinyl and I think there is more protection from bugs and dust/pet dander.
Thank you Dani!! I absolutely loved working with your yarn. Are you doing some knitting? I couldn't believe how fast the yarn from the UK came. I probably will order from them again - very affordable and a big selection of yarns! Take care!😃
@carlaknitspodcast3392 I have been released from OT but have decided to wait until Jan before knitting to make sure my wrist is all good to go. I miss it so much lol
Your socks turned out great! Your cardigan is looking so beautiful! I think your Christmas crochet afghan will be so much fun to do! And, I wanted to say that you wear some of the prettiest tops I've ever seen! As for my crafting, I finished a pair of socks (all leftovers) then, today I'm casting on some Christmas colors socks and I'm still working on my Pinia Pullover (somehow this one seems to be taking forever) which I'm hoping to finish by end of December at this point.
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for the very kind words - you are too sweet!! Hooray for your finished pair of socks! And how fun to cast on Christmas socks!🎄Best of luck knitting on your Pinia pullover - I'm sure you will love it when it's finished - what a gorgeous pattern!! ☺
Happy Monday Carla, your progress on the Jeff's Grandma's blue afghan is incredible, almost at the finish line. Only three WIP's is amazing. I cannot say that....I have 8 or 9 and only one is a pair of socks. I have a lot of Stylecraft DK that I also purchased from Wool Warehouse. I'm working through my stash of it making baby blankets for a local pregnancy clinic. I think I'll TRY to send some projects on vacation and focus on just two so I can finish something. Fall has finally arrived and we have already enjoyed several fires in the fireplace. I hope you find a lot of spare time to knit and relax. Thank you for sharing, see you soon
Hi Candee, Thank you so much! I am really happy and excited that the blanket is coming along and the end is almost in sight. I love the IDEA of casting on a bunch of projects but I know that I wouldn't be happy since I couldn't make enough progress on a lot of projects. So for now, a couple of projects is manageable and enjoyable. I think it's so nice that you make baby blankets for a pregnancy clinic - what a thoughtful thing to do.❤So glad your weather has cooled enough that you can enjoy your fireplace - that sounds wonderful!! Take care!☺
@ I’m regretting all the cast-on now 😵💫I did frog one project. Two of my projects on vacation are big/long term projects. I’m going to try to finish my only pair of socks and my Musselburgh, then work on the shawl that I won’t mention to get it done. We’ll see how that goes. 🧶🥰
Hi Carla, great progress on your sweater and blanket. Last Christmas, I received 3 blanket kits from wool warehouse! I’m hoping to finish one this year and start on another early next year. They are pretty quick and so fun! Happy knitting!!!
I actually took a break from knitting for a few days. My brain switched over to English paper piecing, so I Thats what I did. know I'm back to knitting on my doodle deck cowl. very strange lol. I blame the election lol
Hi! Love your podcast!!!! I downloaded the Christmas afghan and it says week one. I’m new to all of this. Will they offer the whole pattern or do you download it in snippets?
Hi Debra!! Did you download from Ravelry? There are currently five downloads with different sections. It looks like the designer is hosting it as a crochet along. Maybe once all of the clues have been released, she'll put it one large download. But I've downloaded each of the parts that are available on Ravelry. Isn't it a lovely afghan??🎄🎁 P.S. I just double checked on Ravelry - all the downloads are there for the entire blanket, but need to be downloaded separately.
