    In this video:
Have you ever looked at the shiny dome of your grandfather and wondered, “Should I start stocking up on head wax soon?” Statistically at age 30 you will have a 30% chance of going bald. This increases by 10% every 10 years. So someone 50 years old will have a 50% chance of being bald. Due to the genetic factors involved with baldness, it stands to reason, if your grandfather is bald, you too will have to face that demon. Fortunately, scientists have pinpointed the genes responsible and just might have a cure for baldness in the next few years.

Don't even trip, man. Look at Patrick Stewart and Vin Diesel, two completely different types of personalities who went bald young.
Even before they were famous, they still had no problem with the ladies. (they've both talked about this in interviews about before they were actors) Know why? Because if you're confident and polite and treat people well, the last thing they'll care about is how much hair you have.
In fact, and I find this to be true of everyone, no one else really cares if you're going bald. It's only a big issue to the person losing it who thinks everyone else cares. They don't.
If you've got wildly scattered hair loss, just shave it. If it just recedes, you could be bold like Jack Nicholson. In the end, you'll be fine.
And you'll save a fortune in haircuts!

Hello! I love your videos, got a lots of catch up to do, so i watch 2-3 videos per day. Now concerning the hairs, how about the history centuries ago (old painting or pictures) and today's hair lost. People are used to wear hats, giving a message to the body that no longer hairs is needed after several generations wearing hats. Note that i am not a scientist, just observing and curious on everything. I have a personal experience regarding hairs on the chest, before it was well garnish, i use to be a messenger in Montreal and my body do a lots of heat even in winter, so i used to wear a coat without zipping it (up to minus 20C) and always wearing a shirt v-neck style in the 1970's (never buttoned), i later saw my chest with plenty of hair in "v" shape where it was exposed to very cold temperature (but now expanded, so average)

Two things: 1) when I was a child my hair was much thinner, when I went through puberty it thickened. 2) Follow up idea, why do we go gray or white

    • @ULTIMATE_FREEDOM_FIGHTER
      @ULTIMATE_FREEDOM_FIGHTER 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thing 1: If this is a typical hair-phenomenon among people during puberty, then it's either a natural side-effect of the puberty-process - OR it's one of biology's ways of intentionally signalizing to potential mates that we have reached sexual maturity (that we're ready to sexually reproduce).
      _ _ _
Thing 2: Graying/whitening hair is a part of the aging-process that occurs when a person is approaching old-age. Graying/whitening hair is therefore either just a natural side-effect of a slowly dying body - OR it's biology's way of intentionally signalizing to potential mates that a person is decaying (just like a decaying flower), and is therefore not the best mating-partner.
The exception to both of these explanations, however, is for men, as graying/whitening hair usually happens way, way earlier for men than it does for women - and it happens long before men are approaching old-age.
(If you want to understand why graying/whitening hair happens so early for men, then read Apolloggm's entire comment-thread, located right below your comment. Just make sure the comments-section is sorted by "newest first", in order to find his comment-thread.)

Why does hair change color? I had thin light hair that's been darkening, and now I've been finding some strands of scalp hair that are growing thicker, wiry, and black, nothing like the hair I've had. No greys yet, but quite curious all the same.

I too know the curse of male pattern baldness. I floated the idea of just getting it over with it and shave it... but keeping the beard to my barber and she seemed rather interested in the thought. The only downfall to this is that I can no longer frequent the shop for a trim/hot towel/shampoo and scalp massage (it is really relaxing after a long day at work).

  • @lllPlatinumlll

I don't understand why balding people have an issue with it. If I was balding I would embrace it and style my remaining hair into a wicked sorcerer do and really play up with it. Balding is a mainly masculine thing and accentuating it would result in an amazingly masculine look. I have only ever seen one man do this, he was employed in the media industry and really looked and behaved like a powerful evil mastermind.

Would it be safe to make Saw Palmetto into some sort of topical preparation, or even add it to shampoo or conditioner, and would such a topical herbal remedy be effective in inhibiting that enzyme, as well as safe in not affecting the rest of the body?

    The question is...
Is hair loss random background noise (no effect on reproduction)
Or does hair loss have a genetic basis?

I still wonder what the reason is that this only happens to people. You won't see a cat or a rat go bald like this, I wonder what makes this adaptive enough to become a thing in human beings.

On humans, hair gets finer and shorter as we age. On men, the exact opposite occurs on the ears and eyebrows. Has anyone figured out yet why that happens?

Some have postulated that BALDNESS in a man is a "marker" for females.
So this goes back to beginning of human evolution.
Some believe that baldness shows a female the male has survived long enough to go bald , which means there are powerful genes there. It would also mean WISDOM - hence monk use that pecyuliar shaved circle on their heads
On the other hand a head full of hair denotes a young man with very little life experience and a tendency to "run about". NOT a good choice as a husband. In those times a young female may rump around but most likely would marry a wealthy bald gentleman. Yet ANOTHER possible marker in hair loss is a propensity to certain illnesses which increase the hair falling as the possible illness (most likely inherited) worsens.
We do know so little about our bodies . For example now we know the "appendix" that maligned good for nothing appendage, INDEED serves a very important purpose.
The appendix helps in the production of probiotics which help digest food, bloating and overall digestive illnesses,by providing the "good bacteria" necessary for digestion.
Ever wondered how people were able to cope with digestive prablems before TUMS and Alka-Seltzer ?
    Well they HAD their appendix.

Years ago I discovered the cure for a bald head. I had gone bald on the top of my head, including the crown. The sides by the ears still retained hair, but the baldness was spreading. I just resigned myself to becoming one of those "bald guys" and didn't sweat over it. Then, I began eating 3 servings of red cabbage a day as part of an overall healthy diet after I had looked up and found out that it is very good for you. After 18 months of that while looking in the mirror I noticed something strange on my head. Hair. It was growing back. At first I didn't know why. But hey, I wasn't going to argue. The hair kept growing and now I can actually comb it and it needs to be cut as well. I showed this to my primary doctor and he was just amazed. He wanted to know how this happened. The only thing that I did different was eat the red cabbage, which I still do to this day. I'm not saying that red cabbage will cure all forms of male baldness, but it cured mine.

I don't mind being bald. I've grown to like my look. but what I hate. is the hair that is having a rave in and around my ears not only that. is I used to have nice hairy legs. not so much now. Al THAT hair has seemed to have migrated northward to my ears and eyebrows. I can only see it getting worse in the future if my father's ears are any indication. LOTS of grooming as you grow older. if you care about your appearance at least

constant vigorous exercise and healthy living is the way to go. so simple and obvious but people still don't get it. they live unhealthy lives with hormones all out of wack, take a ton of unnatural pills to counteract it and then they wonder why their hairs falling out and their body is shutting down. testosterone isn't bad, it is a natural masculine hormone. extreme hormonal changes and unhealthy living are the culprits. when a man ages his testosterone levels plummet, his hormone levels thus change and he starts going bald. if he exercised and led a healthy live his testosterone would stay normal and therefore, his hair would not fall out.
