    That’s a cool experiment. I really didn’t expect it to have as much power while running on propane. Kinda curious how the fuel. Mileage test goes. Looking forward to the next video.

    Cable clamps and cable adjusters from junked bicycles are excellent for small engine projects so I always strip them out at the dump for cable related parts. I've fixed free equipment because the cable itself was obsolete by making one from parts from bicycles and other equipment. Just an idea to help whoever.

      Get a tarp and build a simple frame, if you want something overhead to protect you from the rain. Cheap and easy. Or just simply build it in your living room. Don't let not having a garage stop you. I don't have a garage and do most of my wintertime projects in my basement.

    Great build! One of your older videos convinced me to buy one of these and I put a Tillitson 212 with a stage one kit in it. Great bike; however, the hardtail makes it tough on the rear, and it’s not a good standing bike (6’, 230; retired guy). Do you recommend the pit fork and rear swing arm mod you did a while back? Or buy a TM MB200 and save money? Thanks; really enjoy the channel.

    Hey Greg.. Ive been converting several things to propane, my log splitter and air compressor most recently. Working on a honda 200 type 2 fourwheeler now. Have it running pretty well, but not the best idle. Have you had idle issues with that particular regulator? Or are you still messing with propane at all? It Looks about like the garretson kn regulars Ive been using. Im going to try a second smaller load block made from 1/4 pipe tee plumbed into the front of the carb instead of the rear and see if helps with the idle . I think the motorcycle type slide carbs have way more issue with propane mixture ratio at least more so than a stock predator type carb,because the slide carbs close off the air flow threw venturi the much tighter at idle. I may go to a mixer for fourwheeler conversion or may adapt predator style carb to it. I know I can make it idle acceptable with that carb on propane if I just drill out the main jet and spud in propane right there where vapor fuel is intended to flow.. trying not to do the spud in with the atv carb unless I come up with a spare I dont mind experimenting on.. btw Derek here from Arkansas, changed my channel name .. used to be vintagediesel

      Propane has less ,,power,, in it than gas. Say approx 3/4. So yes there loss of power. R B already said that when introducing this engine. I have an built in tank and unit in my car. In europe you can fill up on the gas station. It costs me 1/2 of what it would cost me burning gas.

    Propane will have less power than gas, because it has less btu's per gallon. 91,000 for propane, and 120,000 for gasoline. Cool option though if you can get propane cheaper. Currently it's like $4ish dollars per gallon though.

  • @rashdecision
    @rashdecision 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason propane will seem to have more power is because gasoline needs to atomize properly for efficient burns, propane comes naturally with a dense mix of atomized hydrocarbons. Therein, less energy is wasted in burning propane. More energy engaging the piston's downward stroke earlier is more power, regardless of where it comes from. The illusion of extra power is coming from more complete combustion of propane which is already a gas earlier in the the stroke. Meaning, more of the stroke's power curve is meaningful than with gasoline, which wastes time and energy in the beginning of the stroke turning into a gas from a semi-liquid state.

    • @rashdecision
      @rashdecision 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@billwilliamson9842 Absolutely. The energy density of propane is lower than gasoline, meaning less actual energy is being absorbed by the piston in the same space of time. The trick is, propane will feel arbitrarily more punchy because although there is less power in the entire stroke, there is more power at the beginning of the stroke.
      Edit: I imagine the illusion is entirely due to the fact that it's a one-cylinder engine. If you were to use a 2-cylinder in which less of the stroke is out-of-phase, the differences in individual strokes making power earlier would be less noticeable, or may dissipate altogether.
