I watched Shelter many ages ago. It was, has been and will always remain one of my most favorite gay movies of all time. It's hard to find a gay movie with a happy ending and has great quality.
I saw this at an LGBT film festival and bought it when it came out. I got to meet the writer/director which was cool. For me it was the first gay movie I ever saw with a happy ending 😊

Very special movie. So tender. So beautiful. Not full of gay stereotypes, which was so refreshing. Just about two guys who fall in love and the obstacles that come with it. Great writing, great directing, great actors. Respect

I fell in love when they kissed after the beers ♥️ omg i can't stop talking about this movie, everything about it is great!

Love how Zach came to terms with his sexuality, while falling in love with his best friends brother, all while raising his nephew. Zach deserves that happy ending after spending his life taking care of others (especially after the passing of his mother). Sean found his true love with Zach, not only that he also became a parent to Cody (Zach’s nephew). When Jean left to state, she knew her son Cody would be in good hands with her brother Zach, she knew Cody would be happier having both Zach and Sean raising him. Jean saw how happy Cody was with them when he basically outed Zach to her when he told her how much time he spent with them. I still own this film on DVD. It reminded me of a time I fell in love and had a similar story but different ending 💔

And, writing this comment January 2025, this whole area in the movie may be in threat of the raging fires. I pray all stay safe.

I saw this movie one time and absolutely fell in love with the storyline, the actors, even the music. First I purchased the video that I watched 100’s of times. I’ve seen a lot of gay love stories, but none affected me the way this still does today. Then next, there is one song I also had to have. A song titled “Lie To Me” by Shane Mack played in my head so much that I did a deep dive search and found the artist and got the recording, still in my Apple Music album list. This too has this super effect that I feel in my soul. I’ve listened to it thousands of times because I play it on repeat, sometimes for really long stretches, but less than hours at a time. Although I easily could. But if I was to count. A thousand or two hours has been played.
I don't know how many times I watched this movie since 2007. It's one of those movies that I recommend to watch to everyone who's looking for movies respectful of gays.

I was writing a book about my love life when I was young. Of my first love. I spoke with some of my coworkers and encouraged me to write a book. Hopefully I'll finish it on 2025
