Look how fast we went from "chatgpt helps me with my essay" to "chatgpt can see and talk to me like a friend". Imagine where we will be in 10 years. Both scary and exciting

It's insane. I'm very eager to try this new model with it's upgraded voice and vision features as well as it's "memory", but I'm also feeling a sense of unease. Obviously I know it does not have "experience" at least in the way we qualify it, but with this level of apparent intelligence, I feel it will be almost impossible not to anthropomorphize it. Obviously there is no one else on the other side of the screen, but what happens when it feels like there is. What does this mean for human relationships, and how will this affect younger generations who grow up in a world where this is the normal? Can we reliably distinguish between something that is conscious and something that does a really good job at mimicking consciousness? It may not be enough to simply acknowledge their limitations.

I just hope to live long enough to play sword art online. Or another game created with the seed.

Insane, and honestly a bit creepy. Tech and AI are advancing at an exponential rate... Its only a mater of time until we jump from LLMs to real sentient beings and a singularity. I give it 10 years.

I think the jump to real sentient beings is hard to predict because we have nothing close to being “actually sentient”. However the advancement of LLMs seem to have the ability to perfectly replicate sentient beings. This is the debate I guess. Does it matter if it isn’t authentically sentient or is it basically the same when it appears sentient?
Imagine in ex machina. With the current tech of LLMs combined with Boston dynamics best robot could they create a robot and give it the goal to manipulate someone into thinking it’s sentient? I don’t think we’ve made it here but this seems really close

@@Anon-xb9pc eh, who needs sentient beings? let’s create the AGI and work our way backwards. with the AGI, we could create sentient beings if even necessary to create them.

@@zxsafgt3402 I think that was the old approach. Right now all the money and investment is being dumped into seeing how far LLMs can take us. Maybe another innovative jump can take hold but I don’t think that happens for awhile. I think we will continue to see incredible progress with the utilization of LLMs for years to come similar to the innovation with the internet. LLMs though might enhance our productivity so much so that the next innovative jump is much sooner than what we’ve seen in the past. Seems the exponential growth of tech is leading to quicker and quicker innovation

I wouldn't even call it a LLM anymore, as it can see, speak and use emotion. Is more of a large artificial entity.

Humans think they are so special and complex that they thought it is impossible to copy everything what defines them and put it in a machine.
