Seriously though, this is un-ironically one of my favorite themes in video games. It perfectly shows what the Wither Storm is supposed to be: a slow yet unrelenting Apocalypse, starting out small but ceaselessly growing. For an otherwise frankly generic and boring game, this theme is definitely a bullseye on the composer’s part.
This theme after almost 10 years is still one of the most effective themes for inducing fear in a game, and given the context it really pushes the idea that something is seriously wrong
One of my favorite things about the Wither Storm is how all the Hostile Mobs, the Zombies, the Creepers, the Spiders, the Skeletons, they all see this thing floating in the distance, and the first thing they do is run as fast as they can, as far as they can. They ignore Jesse and the others. Now's not the time to settle old scores and go hunting. It reminds me a lot about the ways animals react when they sense a storm or some other kind of natural disaster approaching. How flocks of birds will all suddenly fly away to avoid a hurricane that hasn't even begun forming. How dogs start barking uncontrollably when the tectonic plates start shifting and trigger an earthquake. They know what's coming. And they're scared. Who wouldn't be? This is a disaster they're seeing coming straight towards them. And there's only one thing you can do when face to face with disaster. *RUN*
this makes sense as the wither storm is based off of a storm and has many similarities to a tornado. Its vortex like appearance and tendrils. It reminds me of multi vortex ones. The tractor beams pick up things like tornadoes and blocks fly around it in a vortex.
I love how menacing this track is and how well it fits the witherstorms’ purpose. Ever growing… unstoppable… a catastrophic danger looming closer by the second.

The thing I love most about this song, is the beginning it sounds like a siren warning you about a storm and telling you to seek shelter immediately. I'm pretty sure that was the intention because it's called the wither Strom, but if it wasn't then kool Coincidence

I love this ost, let me explain. The beginning part just intestifys the feeling of dread, the sound of alarms, the weird chord playing over and over again, then it starts to slow down…then…it hits… Once the song starts, you feel like something was just unleashed onto a world, and it can’t be stopped, the weird squid cries in the backround, the pounding drums, the chords in the beginning now replaced with a guitar, it spooky. Then that baseline makes it feel more strong, more imposing, with the sounds of cymbals to tie it together. The sound becomes more frantic, the weird distortion in the song makes it feel otherworldly, then it starts to fade, you made it, you escaped. This song interprets that primal fear of death, and something you can’t fight or run from, this is why this is the best monster song ever.
I can't even lie, this game was legitimately good. It had an amazing soundtrack, a surprisingly compelling story and a great cast of characters. The wither storm still hasn't left my mind as one of the most terrifying things I've seen in a videogame. The way it just destroys everything in it's path like some unstoppable force of nature really freaks me out, when the world it's destroying is the peaceful world of Minecraft we all came to know and love. You can tell just from the theme that the moment Ivor made the wither storm, something was VERY wrong.
You know how dangerous it is when the nether was safer than the overworked. love how the theme complimented the Wither Storm so well. It gives me chills when i listen to it.

I read through the comments and i wanna say. before you comment on a video, make sure you know who posted it. this video was posted by Antimo and Welles, which by the way are the soundtrack makers for the game. i checked out some things. this is more or less a redo version of the original soundtrack. this is not taken from the game. so this version may be updated. its also the full official version so not all things will be the same.

Such an incredible piece of music. Many video game Bosses might have scary music, but this one is very iconic and ties into the witherstorm so perfectly. They could not have made a better piece of music.
I just noticed that all this happened because of a diamond which Petra and Jesse didn't get from Ivor. If they would've got the diamond, they'd never find out about the wither in Ivor's basement. And so, they wouldn't have told Gabriel about it (or atleast tried to tell him). And so he wouldn't have asked them for help. Crazy stuff.
It was actually because the order of the stone cheated on defeating the ender dragon using a command block and I think they kicked ivor out and so he wanted everyone to see if Gabriel could defeat the wither storm without cheating
I find it interesting that the witherstorm was only able to grow out of control due to pettiness and greed. If Axel hadn't taken the potion, in some cases despite you telling him not to, Ivor could have shut the wither down before it covered up the command block. However Axel never would've been in the position to be able to take the potion had Ivor not scammed Jesse and Petra out of a diamond (which is honestly not worth the skull he should've just paid up). But then, Ivor would've had both the recources and likely the dignity to pay them the diamond had he not been kicked from the Order, although he wouldn't have needed the skull either. Finally, he wouldn't have even wanted the skull if it weren't for Soren allowing the Order to accept credit for "slaying" the dragon rather than cheating their way to glory. The Wither Storm got very close to becoming the end of the world, the only thing with a chance to stop it was Jesse and the power of the command block they were able to wield, the world was almost ended by a few people's pettiness and greed... come to think of it, that's kinda where our world seems to be heading.
That's actually very well put. An extremely unfortunate chain of events led to nearly the worst outcome - but it was arguably worth it because the truth was finally revealed.
This thing. This monster alone right here is making me see just how many things in our world have deep-seated roots to survival. And pettiness and greed and the storm itself is included in all that.
When I heard this at first, I thought it was a fitting track, it's really good for it's time, menacing, chilling, terror filling. Truly fit the moster that left a void in it's path.
I like this version even though it's an unreleased version, but the Netflix version of story mode has an altered version and the Netflix Witherstorm theme is really good, specifically the path if you choose to help Lukas. I was hoping you could make that as part of the soundtrack.
The Netflix version only lets you pick between 1 boy or 1 girl Jesse , has only the first 5 episodes of season 1 and no season 2 , you can’t do the battles or roaming around and the majority of fun/ iconic things you do in the original have been changed ,for example roaming and talking to people is just picking a place to go

That being said, the least they could’ve done is get the entire series on there, Season 2 is great, and Season 1 has just been left unfinished. What the hell is it about these chords that makes them so unimaginably horrifying? This song really does feel like something so heinous, so out of control and otherworldly, almost like an extinction event that is alive and breathing. The constant blaring of the alarm in the background is the cherry on top for me. This song is amazing.
To me, the Wither Storm felt like a living Tornado or natural disaster. One we can't stop. All you can do is run and hope you are safe. Also anyone else getting serious waves of Nostalgia hearing this.
this theme just encapsulates the pure dread and overwhelming power the wither storm gives with a constant repetitive intense beat and melody which isnt fast but makes you feel panic. it just shows the power of the witherstorm which cant be stopped as it slowly but surely comsumes everything
This really helps to set the mood of this scene "Nothing built can last forever Gabriel" It isn't an over the top action song or a song that tries to be scary, it's honest, the music tells you that this thing is coming after your ass and there is absolutely nothing you can do to save yourself or your loved ones, and when you CAN you will fail, and once you get to the end it sounds like near-perfect closure, as the theme becomes yours because you are now inside and near the command block, and there is nothing the wither storm can do about it, this theme isn't powerFUL, IT ISN't scary It's hopeless, it's power, it's downright terrifying, and it is rapidly approaching you
For some reason at 1:18 your strings are mastered much better than the game files version of the track, and with the sound effects of the background gives it a REALLY good feeling of dread/terror. It's a very articulate motif, and with the sound of the guitar on top of the drums as it slowly builds up more and more adds a lot of flavor and texture to the track, expressing "Oh shit, this is bigger and worse than we thought" Amazing job, guys 👍

I remember when I first saw the wither storm, I was like: OMG! I COULD NEVER COME UP WITH THAT KIND OF A STORY! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! It was epic tho xD
I love how the main melody in this is both simple, and menacing. Shows how the Wither Storm besides not having much intelligence, or a reason to do what it is doing, will cause as much destruction as it can, no matter what.
The Wither Storm is one of my favourite monsters I've seen yet. It's so intimidating and cool. TellTale used limitations of Minecraft really good imo. I think the Wither Storm was my first introduction into the monster design trope of _really_ *REALLY* big near unstoppable behemoth (which is probably my favourite trope in that) and I remember the Wither Storm was super intimidating, it's slow, but it's not weak. The coolest scene imo was the ones where it wasn't right there but looming in the distance, approaching slowly.
i love the part where at the beginning where the music fades then kicks back in with a new beat,it just gives this feeling of you just summoned this freak of nature that is almost immpossible to stop
THIS TRACK. This damn track has been stuck with me ever since I first heard it. It has been so clear in my mind for YEARS, and I know that it will continue to be for many, many more. The Witherstorm is terrifying, and absolutely was a core memory for me growing up. This music was at _least_ half of that.
The bass at 1:18 seems a lot more prominent than in other versions and in game. I like it, it really helps sell the existential terror that the Wither Storm is.

Imagine this: You are on a trip, currently travelling with your mom and dad. You wake up from a nice mid-travel sleep, and you notice this thing next to you. Its blocky, sort of looks like an amulet. You've seen it before, but you cant quite put your finger on it. Suddenly, you hear this weird ambience playing, like the beginning of some very, very scary music. Your parents also hear it, but they have no idea what it is. Then, you see it. This amalgamation of blocks and heads in the distance. It all comes to you. Everything comes to you. And then, you remember... this thing follows the blocky amulet you've had. What would you do? You can't throw it away or some idiot who doesn't know what it is would pick it up and keep it as a collectible until they inevitably get killed. You need to keep it for now. You tell your mom to turn around, and even though confused, she complies and does a U turn and drives back. Let's just hope the car is faster than it.

An overwhelming sense of Helplessness and dread at 0:39 feels like when you spot the wither storm, before that mark its the overwhelming Aura of fear that the Wither Storm produces. 1:18 You realize that this might be your fate, you begin to run from the man made horror. 2:05 being a sense of Adrenaline while you try to escape the Unstoppable man made force. the end at 2:50 being the sense of Acceptance, knowing that there is no escape, it is growing near. Accept your fate, there is nobody left to help you.

I read through the comments and i wanna say. before you comment on a video, make sure you know who posted it. this video was posted by Antimo and Welles, which by the way are the soundtrack makers for the game. i checked out some things. this is more or less a redo version of the original soundtrack. this is not taken from the game. so this version may be updated. its also the full official version so not all things will be the same.

I just noticed that all this happened because of a diamond which Petra and Jesse didn't get from Ivor. If they would've got the diamond, they'd never find out about the wither in Ivor's basement. And so, they wouldn't have told Gabriel about it (or atleast tried to tell him). And so he wouldn't have asked them for help.

It was actually because the order of the stone cheated on defeating the ender dragon using a command block and I think they kicked ivor out and so he wanted everyone to see if Gabriel could defeat the wither storm without cheating

I find it interesting that the witherstorm was only able to grow out of control due to pettiness and greed. If Axel hadn't taken the potion, in some cases despite you telling him not to, Ivor could have shut the wither down before it covered up the command block. However Axel never would've been in the position to be able to take the potion had Ivor not scammed Jesse and Petra out of a diamond (which is honestly not worth the skull he should've just paid up). But then, Ivor would've had both the recources and likely the dignity to pay them the diamond had he not been kicked from the Order, although he wouldn't have needed the skull either. Finally, he wouldn't have even wanted the skull if it weren't for Soren allowing the Order to accept credit for "slaying" the dragon rather than cheating their way to glory.
The Wither Storm got very close to becoming the end of the world, the only thing with a chance to stop it was Jesse and the power of the command block they were able to wield, the world was almost ended by a few people's pettiness and greed... come to think of it, that's kinda where our world seems to be heading.
That's actually very well put. An extremely unfortunate chain of events led to nearly the worst outcome - but it was arguably worth it because the truth was finally revealed.
This thing. This monster alone right here is making me see just how many things in our world have deep-seated roots to survival. And pettiness and greed and the storm itself is included in all that.

I like this version even though it's an unreleased version, but the Netflix version of story mode has an altered version and the Netflix Witherstorm theme is really good, specifically the path if you choose to help Lukas. I was hoping you could make that as part of the soundtrack.

The Netflix version only lets you pick between 1 boy or 1 girl Jesse , has only the first 5 episodes of season 1 and no season 2 , you can’t do the battles or roaming around and the majority of fun/ iconic things you do in the original have been changed ,for example roaming and talking to people is just picking a place to go

That being said, the least they could’ve done is get the entire series on there, Season 2 is great, and Season 1 has just been left unfinished. Of course, Telltale’s gone under since then so that’s probably not happening anytime soon, unfortunately.

What the hell is it about these chords that makes them so unimaginably horrifying? This song really does feel like something so heinous, so out of control and otherworldly, almost like an extinction event that is alive and breathing. The constant blaring of the alarm in the background is the cherry on top for me. This song is amazing.

this theme just encapsulates the pure dread and overwhelming power the wither storm gives with a constant repetitive intense beat and melody which isnt fast but makes you feel panic. it just shows the power of the witherstorm which cant be stopped as it slowly but surely comsumes everything

It isn't an over the top action song or a song that tries to be scary, it's honest, the music tells you that this thing is coming after your ass and there is absolutely nothing you can do to save yourself or your loved ones, and when you CAN you will fail, and once you get to the end it sounds like near-perfect closure, as the theme becomes yours because you are now inside and near the command block, and there is nothing the wither storm can do about it, this theme isn't powerFUL, IT ISN't scary

For some reason at 1:18 your strings are mastered much better than the game files version of the track, and with the sound effects of the background gives it a REALLY good feeling of dread/terror. It's a very articulate motif, and with the sound of the guitar on top of the drums as it slowly builds up more and more adds a lot of flavor and texture to the track, expressing "Oh shit, this is bigger and worse than we thought"

The Wither Storm is one of my favourite monsters I've seen yet. It's so intimidating and cool. TellTale used limitations of Minecraft really good imo. I think the Wither Storm was my first introduction into the monster design trope of _really_ *REALLY* big near unstoppable behemoth (which is probably my favourite trope in that) and I remember the Wither Storm was super intimidating, it's slow, but it's not weak. The coolest scene imo was the ones where it wasn't right there but looming in the distance, approaching slowly.
I love how before the drums start it sounds like a siren stopping absolutely terrifying.

Your parents also hear it, but they have no idea what it is. Then, you see it. This amalgamation of blocks and heads in the distance. It all comes to you. Everything comes to you. And then, you remember... this thing follows the blocky amulet you've had. What would you do? You can't throw it away or some idiot who doesn't know what it is would pick it up and keep it as a collectible until they inevitably get killed. You need to keep it for now. You tell your mom to turn around, and even though confused, she complies and does a U turn and drives back. Let's just hope the car is faster than it.
