My wife wants one for Christmas and they all were sold out I lucked up and finally found one on Amazon. It arrives tomorrow I’m excited to see her face when she opens her gift 🎁
Got my wife one and she loves it. Just need the different glassware. Some will not fill a regular glass. Some require a martini glass and others require others. I personally have not used it but my wife has made and a few drinks and it’s really good
Yes, the drink size varies and if you're using a larger glass it might be disappointing to have it half-full, but remember that the flavors and syrups are calibrated for a specific pour too, so doubling the alcohol would just dilute the flavor, not make a bigger drink! I like adding lots of ice cubes instead.
I appreciate you getting right to the point with your review and being honest. I just got one today and your video was very helpful thank you. I subscribed!
The only complaint I have is that I wish they told you what size the drink will be. I almost always use snifter glass but the other day I made a Long Island ice tea and it overflowed out of the glass. The drinks are of course better at bar made by a real bartender but I think the real value here is you get a decent drink without spending too much time making one and it's a great time saver when you have a lot of guests. I have had the Keurig(rip) and I think this makes better drinks. I have one made by margaritaville that has a container for orange juice and sweet and sour. That makes pretty good drinks too. I would probably choose the Bev over both. The clean up on the margaritaville is a pain. I'm happy with the bev. Looks great. Great footprint, easy to use, good drinks not great but good. I agree, you have to stir the drinks. Makes a huge difference. The Mint Julep was surprisingly good.
Each spot has a label (it's subtle, but readable) that indicates what should be there, and you don't need all the alcohols to make some of the drinks: Each capsule lists which alcohols it requires.
I don't recall the ounce measures of each drink, but that seems low. Check that all of your bottles were being used in the dispense process (it's possible to have the intake hose incorrectly attached so it might miss one ingredient). How did it taste?
To a certain point, yes, the tube that you put into the alcohol bottle will pull up the liquid, but we never got down to that point in our "testing" parties 🙂
If you're talking about where the pipes plug into the unit, yes, they should click in. You need to push it in pretty hard sometimes due to the rubber seals.
Can you use the bartesian capsules from the bartesian cocktail maker, basically are they compatible and able to work with the bev?.. since there different manufacturers-thanks
So I got this as a Christmas gift. I’ve been using it. However, I’m having difficulty selecting the strongest strength for the cocktail. The machine defaults to medium strength. Is that supposed to happen?
You have to make sure that the pipes are firmly seated in their ports on the main unit; if that's not the case, they can't develop the suction to pull the alcohol out of the bottles. Check with the company if you still can't get it to work!
I guess I don’t understand why you can’t just buy the pods and then pour them in your alcohol instead of buying a $400 machine to do it for you. You already have to load the pod; just pour it in a glass instead lol
It's a bit of a novelty, but one challenge every bartender knows is getting the ratios and amounts to be precise so that every single Old Fashioned or Margarita tastes exactly the same. That's what the BEV offers; precision. And it's pretty dang fun too. 🙂
@Dave Taylor the value of a dollar is relative to how many you have. Personally, $400 isn’t worth slight variations in each old fashioned I make but I suppose if you have money to burn it could be fun.
Go to any liquor store. Stand in front of the whiskey, vodka, gin, or rum display. Compare the cheapest and most expensive. There are definitely better alcohols on the market than the "well drink" equivalents from the local bar 🙂
A capsul 3€ up, and u say is not expensive 😂😂😂😂 I run a bar also in thailand, i was intresting for this great idea projecct, but the cost of the capsel and shipping killing the idea allready Capsule overatet expensive, for the home is maybe ok i like. But commercial run is for thailand with shipping cost impossible not tecommemted
Thats like $2.50 a drink for a couple ounces of citrus, sugar, and bitters. Thats way nore expensive than making your own. You even have to buy all of the liquor yourself
The amount of work that and the different taste that would come out of those stupid machines. It makes no sense plus being a bartender at home is pretty cool. You get them cool points

I like that this one uses the original bottle of liquor instead of transferring to another container.

Great feedback - I hope the BEV team are reading this regarding output beverage amount - and now I want to try the Mint Julep too!
How do you know where to place each bottle of alcohol in the mixer? What alcohol do you need to complete the setup to make a majority of the drinks?
Each spot has a label (it's subtle, but readable) that indicates what should be there, and you don't need all the alcohols to make some of the drinks: Each capsule lists which alcohols it requires.
He showed it on the video..
I understand the water is basically flushing it out and cleaning it, but does that affect the taste? Do you think it’s watered down?
No, the water is being added to the drinks to make the mixes and ratios correct. Cleaning is completely separate from mixing. :-)
Just ordered mine
How you like?
@@Rascott03 i like it . Host a few times and still works, also drink here and there with wife. I recommend buying warranty.
How does it know what alcohol for each pod or what type of drink pod is in it
Each pod is labelled and has a bar code that the machine scans. it's pretty slick.
How do you select what cocktail to make on the machine ? I didn't see you press anything just the strength? 😕
Each pod makes one drink. So you select by putting different pods in the device, each coded with what spirits it requires.
@@AskDaveTaylor UUH HUH 😉THANKS FOR THE REPLY 😊
Great review!
Thanks. I'll make a toast in your honor! 😆
Can you use sparkling water or seltzer water instead of just tap water?
I imagine so, but you'll want to double-check with the manufacturer to ensure that they don't muck up the works.
I made a Cosmo for the first time but it yielded 4oz. Is that typical? I had it on the normal setting
I don't recall the ounce measures of each drink, but that seems low. Check that all of your bottles were being used in the dispense process (it's possible to have the intake hose incorrectly attached so it might miss one ingredient). How did it taste?
@@AskDaveTaylor thanks. I'll have to try it again. It used some of the liquor and then a little water plus the pod.
Are the Pods “self-expiring” and will not allow the machine to work, like ink cartridges?? If so this is not good.
I don't think so, but I didn't have a chance to test it; we drank 'em all too fast!
what about the little spicket that goes in the bottle? When the alcohol gets low does it suck it up?
To a certain point, yes, the tube that you put into the alcohol bottle will pull up the liquid, but we never got down to that point in our "testing" parties 🙂
Hey Dave is the tab supposed to click in. My bev doesn't take the liquor out.
I don't know the answer to that, but honestly, my guess would be that you cannot. Check with Black + Decker to be 100% sure, however.
Yes! It’s compatible!
So I got this as a Christmas gift. I’ve been using it. However, I’m having difficulty selecting the strongest strength for the cocktail. The machine defaults to medium strength. Is that supposed to happen?
If you specify you want it strong, it should make a strong beverage. I'd check with Black & Decker.
Love your review!
Can you use mikers such as cola in the water bottle ?
Theoretically, yes, but I think that would mess up the pipes in a short period and I'd recommend you rinse it thru with water after every use.
How it can make a cocktail with none alcohol whenever the four spot for the bottle are alcohol?
If you're asking whether it can make non-alcoholic beverages, why would you use it for that purpose? 🙂
@@AskDaveTaylor I'm asking how that can make non alcoholic beverages if the capsules are alcohol and the bottle are alcohol too
Got it. The capsules don't actually contain alcohol, just flavors that mix with the alcohols you have in separate containers.
Can we use it without the capsules?
Not sure, but if you just want a shot of gin, why not just pour it? 🙂
How can I buy one
Here's a link: www.blackanddecker.com/products/behb101/bev-cocktail-maker-machine-and-drink-maker
Mine won't dispense the alcohol and I followed all the instructions

Do all the bottles mix at the same time
Depends on the drink you're making. But it tends to be one at a time, in order...
If it’s a long island it would mix the vodka the tequila the rum and the gin
There's more than one recipe for a Long Island Iced Tea, however...
I guess I don’t understand why you can’t just buy the pods and then pour them in your alcohol instead of buying a $400 machine to do it for you. You already have to load the pod; just pour it in a glass instead lol

Yes, it's pretty obviously a luxury item and I don't think that Black + Decker positions it otherwise. My ideal would be if a friend owned one :-)
PId $198 amazon black friday
Well it’s $240 not $400 and if you can’t afford $240 then stop voting democrat
Can you make non-alcoholic drinks with it?
Yes they have a mock tail option.
Can you use 1 litter bottle of Alcohol instead of 750ml
I expect so, as long as it fits in the space allocated and the hose fits in properly!
I’m confused why water would be added to a cocktail
You and I clearly go to different bars. 🙂
@@AskDaveTaylor yes we Defintely do
This would make a great house warming gift.
Definitely!
Those this machine turns off automatically if you leave it on
I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment or question...?
Awesome
Better alcohol.....

No question it's not for a bar, other than as a novelty. You should be able to produce cocktails and mixed drinks at a tiny fraction of the price!

An absolute horrific looking machine 😱
