Is this right for the last example? The writer tells us that Natalia "peered out", this tells us that she was having difficulty identifying what was ahead of her, as well as portraying her curiousity as she was trying to figure out what she had come out for. This also tells us of her hesitance to go out and immediately face what lies ahead without knowing what it is first."
is this correct explanation for this question What mood does the writer create in the street in this paragraph? Every window was dark. The hazy moon seemed to gather the silence up around it like a net. Not a sound: no sirens, no rats in the bins that lined the street. My grandfather stopped, looked up and down the street, then turned left. The writer creates a gloomy mood. This is emphasized by the use of “ Every window was dark”. The word “dark” connotes dullness and emptiness. In addition, the use of the word “ every” depicts a picture depression, as all the windows are dark.
The narrator sequels mystery through a number of events, firstly he describes the windows as being "dark" which implies that the boy and the grandfather are all alone shrouded by the sheer darkness of the sky. The word "Every" emphasises how dark it is, adding more suspense to the surroundings. The repetition of the word "no" indicates inactivity which may be as a result of the extreme conditions the "hazy" moon brings with it (fog and snow). The fact that the "grandfather stopped" and looked around frantically creates a speck of uncertainty as if something bad is about to happen.
Is this fine using the PEE method. For the last question in the video is this fine Point - reword the question: The writer suggests Natalia is feeling scared and clueless that night. Evidence - We can see this when the writer states, ‘an enormous shadow was moving along the street.’ Explanation - The word shadow suggests she can’t work out what she is seeing. The word ‘enormous’ conveys a large size which is intimidating for Natalia. The writer suggests Natalia is feeling scared and clueless that night. Hi May I ask a question? in paper 1 question 3 "intervie" answers - is the student required to include the interviewer's questions in the response? cheers!
There is one thing that I’m a bit confused about is that in the question it says ‘Use your own words in your explanation.’ Doesn’t that mean we shouldn’t quote?
Hello! Re. The newer questions; it's a little tricky as there's presently only one paper readily available. We are still waiting on some more. However, pop over onto the Cambridge website and see what's available.. www.cambridgeinternational.org/programmes-and-qualifications/cambridge-igcse-english-first-language-0500/past-papers/
