For anyone wondering, no, they aren't Polar Grizzlies, Polar Bears, or Albino Grizzly Bears. They are a rare subspecies of Black Bear called the Kermode Bear. They are also known as the Spirit Bear. A true beauty and wonder from this world. So glad I'm able to see a video of them! 😊
Incredible video!! Amazing animals!! Awesome example of the sheer bite power of these majestic beast is at 7:14 when he bites into 🐠 and you hear 👂 the bite power! Unfortunately the only 🐻 bears we have in Boston N.E. Are the 🥅🏒 BRUINS!! Much respect ✊🏼 and will be booking a trip here !! Boston Strong 💪
Thanks and from wikipedia: The Kermode bear (Ursus americanus kermodei), also known as the spirit bear (particularly in British Columbia), is a rare subspecies of the American black bear living in the Central and North Coast regionsof British Columbia, Canada.[1] It is the official provincial mammal of British Columbia.[2] While most Kermode bears are black, there are between 100 and 500 fully white individuals.[3] The white variant is most common on three islands in British Columbia (Gribbell, Princess Royal, and Roderick), where 10-20% of bears are white.[4] Kermode bears hold a prominent place in the oral traditions of the indigenous peoples of the area. They have also been featured in a National Geographic documentary.[5]
Magic doco .... I spend a week chasing them a few years ago and just didnt get shots like that unfortunately. However the areas and location was to die for and us Aussies had a blast.
@@Tinekemike Yes we saw and photographed the Spirit Bear ... Shots were not a good as these but at least we saw and photographed . The Black Bears were everywhere catching huge salmon and only eating the row and tossing the rest as just so plentiful.
Thank you very much for sharing your trip! Magnificent, gorgeous+++ At 11:23, a lady said that the bear was a grizzly, I thought it was a brown bear? I still confuse brown with grizzly then if she's right! Also, I wonder why the humpback rubs himself against the boat... So so close to your team, that is just incredible! A real dream trip, wow! Plus: much appreciated that you didn't add music for most part of your vid, so much vids on Nature have unecessary human music Thank you again+++
And thank you very much for your kind reaction! Grizzly and brown bear are about the same, grizzlies live in the interior (where is no salmon), brown bears at the coast (and eat also salmon). Why rubbing at the boat is not clear, perhaps because of undoing barnacles that live on the whale
Wow Tineke and Mike your videos get better and better. What make of video camera are you using? I have fond memories of us all on The Achiever in 2016. Stay safe and well.
They aren't Polar Bears because of their size and their face shape. And I doubt that they are three very rare albino Grizzlies either since they don't really look too Grizzly and just by looking at their shoulders, face, and size. I researched it a little bit and they are called Spirit Bears as a nickname but are truly Kermode Bears, indigenous to Canada. They are if fact a subspecies of the Black Bear and often have beautiful white fur. Which is kind of cool and very interesting.
Bears are such gorgeous, splendid amazing animals! I LOVE bears!
