Being clean and sober has opened up a whole new world to me and I've been doing things now i only dreamed of as a kid. Even just simple things like spending a weekend in a tent out in the woods with my girlfriend. I started getting high at 14 so between drugs and prison i knew NOTHING of life. And I CAN'T WAIT to see more of it!! So thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing me that SEEKING DISCOMFORT can be a GLORIOUS thing!! i love you guys!! Keep up the fantastic work!!

I spent most of my life institutionalized, in group homes, gangs, alcoholic, drugs, etc, I was abused among many other things as a kid and never got a chance to do anything different. Ive been sober 4 years now, out of the system 14 years. But didnt get out of trouble until about 8 years ago. Im 38 and have never done anything different. I have never traveled to different countries. But just seeing and watching my children grow has been an emmense change for me. Im a single father doing everything sober now. There is alot of clarity, and you dont know what your missing until you really start living. I though jail or death was going to be it for me. Then I woke up and realize it doesnt need to be that way. We are truly cut from a different cloth. I want to make sure the second part of my life is 10x better than the first half. Back in my day I never had the opportunity to do anything like this. Its got a hyperreal, nightmare vibe to it, right? Like it almost feels like a forgotten VR project than a real place.... a simulation of a housing estate, where each home is a simulation of a fictional castle which, itself, is a simulation of a real castle which *itself* was a 19th century romantic reimagination of a castle!
It would’ve been so much prettier if each castle was unique and had a little more specs in between eachother. Them all looking exactly the same defeats the purpose of it being luxurious

If you're implying using these places for the homeless, it's infeasible. This place has no infrastructure, is not part of the city development plans, actually occupies forestry which should not get any construction permit. Poor people here will only become miserable.

I think everytime you guys meet up with someone of the yes fam, they get such a big boost in confidence and seeking discomfort that they become their own little „yes theory“. I think it’s the best way to reach as many people as possible
This happened today - I had a job interview this morning and while speaking with the interviewer, YT came up as hobbies and he asked me which my favorite channel was. I mentioned "Yes Theory" and we ended up speaking about you guys and about the idea of seeking discomfort, for like 15 mins. Love you guys! You guys are an inspiration!
They may have been able to make something out of that venture if the builders hadn’t built all the homes at one time. If they had finished a small section at a time and actually completed each one, allowing people to move in. Then start the next area. It just seems so silly to me to do so much work on so many homes without knowing that they were not sold. Very poor planning on someone’s part.
This might be the most misconceived construction project I’ve ever seen. You’re right, they should have been constructed one at a time rather than trying to build them all at once, and now that they‘ve been exposed to the elements for years, I imagine they're completely useless. Also, the proximity may have been excusable if they were lined up next to a river, or next to the ocean, but instead they’re only next to each other. With… a shopping mall!?! Is that the main attraction!?!

I always found this castle holiday village idea a little bit odd. The idea of them all just being identical in shape, size, colour, amount of people who can stay per castle... People don't really want to have everything looking exactly the same. I think the closest successful purpose built, fairytale holiday village to this that I know of is probably the Bosrijk cottages at Efteling. They're all very similar, but some are bigger or smaller depending on the family staying, and there's a street with terraced cottages. It still feels very magical!
I can't believe you just walked in. That is kinda crazy. What's even more crazy is the fact that no one has taken the building supplies and that everything is how they once left it.
A different channel I watch was there last summer and there were security guards there. They had to sneak in through the woods to see inside. Looks like it's not guarded during the winter.

For one of your next abandoned places you should check a place called Sintra, in Portugal. Years ago someone built a big mansion inside the woods of Sintra, and as a present for their daughter they built a tower simulating Disney castle. As they went bankrupt, the place was left alone. Not only this place is mind-blowing, Sintra is just breathtaking to visit

But if you want to be an ass, a simple review of the property shows it's actually quite massive; it's to the point where the government should, if they cared or could afford it, bulldoze it to make way for other businesses. There's also the idea of turning some into homeless shelters but the support for the poor is apparently nonexistent in this country. All I'm saying is that a reconsideration of the property is not a stupid thought to have.

The footage from above with the snow and stillness makes it look like a snow globe or painting. They are all identical? What an incredibly beautiful eerie place.
Imagine this as a festival site, one huge stage and the people attending stay in the small castles having small parties in them, swimming in the indoor pool etc.

This was an incredible adventure. It is hauntingly bizarre, strangely unreal, mysteriously beautiful. To see it adorned with a winter coat of snow only added to the dreamlike quality of the story. Thank you for showing us something completely different. ❤
I am asking myself so many "Why?!" Questions XD The biggest why would be: "Why didn't they just built 50, or even 100 castles and actually finish them?? " AND, this should be a music festival ground. Imagine different music genres in every castle and people running around in fairy, knight, elve, princess or whatever cosplay costumes.
With as many homeless people there are in this world, it's heartbreaking to see so many empty castles going to waste. If they sectioned each castle into 2 or 3 mini apartments, they could house soooo many homeless families. This world is a messed up place man... But yes theory always brings a smile to my face. You guys rock!

I always wonder what feelings or emotions people feel when they go into these kinds of abandoned places.. like what kind of energy is left behind. I know this wasnt a spooky place or something haunted but im sure you can sense some sort of energy walking around in places like this.

It's a vanity project. Homeless people are wandering the streets of Istanbul, Ankara, and other major cities of Turkey and instead of building more social housing, they build this. The Government could have bought that land and made an affordable housing there.
The Turkish Gov should repurpose this housing for the poor and complete it. Turkey has so many refugees and it’s a shame this housing is going to waste
I'm disturbed that the world is treated like such a playground for the wealthy; not every apartment should be an Airbnb. And I know the preference for builders is to construct luxury housing- but too often that housing is built over the rubble of razed public housing, with the displaced poor being SOL when no more affordable housing is being constructed. (If you haven't guessed, I'm in the U.S.; I've heard that European countries don't have the level of homelessness that exists here.) This (my comment) isn't about refugees or poorer countries, I know- but it's sick to CREATE instability, absent any crisis. And, really, it's not like poorer nations don't have ANY money- usually the money (inc. land, resources) is just being held by a small number of obscenely wealthy individuals. That seems to be what this country is aiming towards, too: a "wealthy" nation, populated by indigents.

What's disappointing is the amount of people in the world without a home and we are leaving places like this abandoned.
If you're implying using these places for the homeless, it's infeasible. This place has no infrastructure, is not part of the city development plans, actually occupies forestry which should not get any construction permit. Poor people here will only become miserable.

There’s just something about the castles all being the same that makes them beautiful yet slightly creepy.
They may have been able to make something out of that venture if the builders hadn’t built all the homes at one time. If they had finished a small section at a time and actually completed each one, allowing people to move in. Then start the next area. It just seems so silly to me to do so much work on so many homes without knowing that they were not sold. Very poor planning on someone’s part.
This might be the most misconceived construction project I’ve ever seen. You’re right, they should have been constructed one at a time rather than trying to build them all at once, and now that they‘ve been exposed to the elements for years, I imagine they're completely useless. Also, the proximity may have been excusable if they were lined up next to a river, or next to the ocean, but instead they’re only next to each other. With… a shopping mall!?! Is that the main attraction!?!

I always found this castle holiday village idea a little bit odd. The idea of them all just being identical in shape, size, colour, amount of people who can stay per castle... People don't really want to have everything looking exactly the same. I think the closest successful purpose built, fairytale holiday village to this that I know of is probably the Bosrijk cottages at Efteling. They're all very similar, but some are bigger or smaller depending on the family staying, and there's a street with terraced cottages. It still feels very magical!

For one of your next abandoned places you should check a place called Sintra, in Portugal. Years ago someone built a big mansion inside the woods of Sintra, and as a present for their daughter they built a tower simulating Disney castle. As they went bankrupt, the place was left alone. Not only this place is mind-blowing, Sintra is just breathtaking to visit
It's a goal of mine. My mom was born in Sintra. And she moved to Canada when she was a teenager.

But if you want to be an ass, a simple review of the property shows it's actually quite massive; it's to the point where the government should, if they cared or could afford it, bulldoze it to make way for other businesses. There's also the idea of turning some into homeless shelters but the support for the poor is apparently nonexistent in this country. All I'm saying is that a reconsideration of the property is not a stupid thought to have.

@@246trixie Hahaha. Nice thought, and I don't want you to have the wrong expectation of Turkey, but in most of the major cities, if something isn't bolted down, it's as good as gone. There's plenty of crime in Turkey, despite being (or pretending to be) religious.
It's surreal walking through abandoned places where people just didn't come back the next day. Feels like it still has life left to give.
I always wonder what feelings or emotions people feel when they go into these kinds of abandoned places.. like what kind of energy is left behind. I know this wasnt a spooky place or something haunted but im sure you can sense some sort of energy walking around in places like this.

It always feels weird when there are places around the world like that. A massive project just left forgotten. It's kind of sad
It's a vanity project. Homeless people are wandering the streets of Istanbul, Ankara, and other major cities of Turkey and instead of building more social housing, they build this. The Government could have bought that land and made an affordable housing there.
It looks beautiful in the snow. I bet in person it's even better!

I'm disturbed that the world is treated like such a playground for the wealthy; not every apartment should be an Airbnb. And I know the preference for builders is to construct luxury housing- but too often that housing is built over the rubble of razed public housing, with the displaced poor being SOL when no more affordable housing is being constructed. (If you haven't guessed, I'm in the U.S.; I've heard that European countries don't have the level of homelessness that exists here.) This (my comment) isn't about refugees or poorer countries, I know- but it's sick to CREATE instability, absent any crisis. And, really, it's not like poorer nations don't have ANY money- usually the money (inc. land, resources) is just being held by a small number of obscenely wealthy individuals. That seems to be what this country is aiming towards, too: a "wealthy" nation, populated by indigents.
