Good question, the answer is "no". An air wrench removing lug nut tears thru the thin layer of paint with ease. Rust is the problem as it corrodes threads & will rust the nut to the stud. Paint prevents rust.
Ah ok we can’t get tire mask here in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 that’s why I was asking. Plus wouldn’t need 8 masks as the wheels would only be painted once it’s mainly the hubs I want to paint not the actual wheel

What is best thing to use for preparation?
AleksA Stankovic Wash + dry wheels. Sand with sand paper. Next, clean wheels with wax + grease remover. Finally, apply Tire Maskers, primer, then paint.
What paint do you recommend?
