    I have never heard anybody pronounce 'innovative' like that. I suppose you could say it was...innovative. This thing sounds gorgeous of course. I expect it will be the new felt piano in terms of spotting it on ads for banks, charities etc. Fab work!

      I used t pronounce 'innovative' like that, then I realised I was in the minority. I should have stuck to my own style. I have betrayed myself and Paul Thomson.

    Birds sing in Tonic Solfa which is why we can listen all day to birdsong (as opposed to Messiaen or Liszt) but speaking as a pianist (and acknowledge that most aren't) the emotion of this software instrument (and real piano is ALL about emotion) lacks the spot or the heart of pianistic rhythms, harmony and melody. (Bear in mind the piano is always considered part of the percussion section in a band or orchestra). The product is undoubtably effective and I would love it as an aid to composition. However in my view as a final product, it can easily be surpassed by a good pianist with decent audio plugins.

    Fantastic demonstration Paul - It leaves you a little speechless - It's amazing - It's application seems to be towards electronic music - How would it work with something like alternative solo strings for example? It would be interesting to see you put a piece of music together using that. Also is it possible if you could put a couple of videos together about articulations, explaining how they work. Is it possible to have players from string, woodwind and brass demonstrate the articulations - I just feel there are many musicians like myself who would like a more indepth understanding to help in the learning process. Thanks Paul

    I bought it and I like it a lot, but I think Spitfire's UI again leaves a lot to be desired. Why are so many of the wave icons along the top the same? Each column has a different playback sequence and I find it hard to believe that couldn't be represented somehow in the top icon. Even the second matrix with hard attack, still has the wave icon!! Seriously Spitfire, get someone else to design your UI please. Your interfaces ignore a ton of conventions that have been learned over the last 30 years, while some very basic and helpful info is just not provided.

    Very nice one and great demo as always.
    This one gives me a bit of Thomas Newman American Beauty feel but with a healthy dose of controlled randomness.
    How does it work in different master tempo?
    Maybe it would be nice to have more dynamic control over the ghost notes, having some rise in level etc. Probably would take another three years to do : )
    One thing for the GUI team might be to consider if the A B C and D letters in the control of Quick FX should be perfect centered within the circle or if this ever so slightly off center feels good for you.

    I have both Noire and this one. Noire, as felt piano is very good but the "particles" system in Stratus is better imo.

    • @ThisIsMattyTrying
      @ThisIsMattyTrying 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The particles when it works well in Noire is sensational; but it does leave a lot to be desired and doesn't feel as deep as this seems to be so keen to pick this up and give it a whirl!

  • @johnhawkinshawkins1284

    This is great! It should be how your 'Swarms' work..... also Kepler....Also, can the motifs be dragged to my DAW so I can change the piano sound to a harp or glock?

  • @EcstaticSuffering
    @EcstaticSuffering 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    The "warped" sounds seem especially nice in this one! Might have to pick this up just for those. however, I might feel a little guilty using the piano waves... this one edges a little too close to the "performable album" territory for me personally.

    Sounds nice, but 8 cells seems like a small amount for this price even on sale. Did you guys at least record every note for every cycle, or was pitch shifting used? Midi out would have also been cool so you could use/sync this with other instruments.

    I tend to like what stratus produces when it's a little more structured, bordering on chaos. The randomized notes feel like an overload of sound and a bit too much to connect with. But maybe that's just me.

    Sad.
    If I would construct a set of sound and damped piano samples together with a delay effect... should I say : it is an instrument?
    Or if you record a multiple bunch of track together - creating a special (but amorph) sound, would it be called "composition"?
