escaflowne is 8.2 meters... so a S size most likely. you can see Van in the back of the dragon mode because he is controlling it from the back with 2 hand control things.
If it runs off of life energy and it mystical and has SUPER POWERS in any way, it's a Super Robot. Besides, it does run off of his emotions, and he does put courage and effort into attacks, even though her has no "Special" ones. And even if it's not a super robot, then it would be in SRW anyway. So are the robots from Full Metal Panic Super Robots? No, but they're still in the game.
Actually, As long as the mech isn't bounded by our physics law, impossible to even imagine it even being built and used exactly as it is, and have improbably properties, it's a super. Real is the direct opposite. There are of course, some that cross between the 2.
Really? It doesn't seem grounded in realism enough to be a Real Robot series. You have a transforming robot that can essentially tesseract, damage to it transfers onto the hero, and it has the potential to override destined events. The series might technically be a Real Robot series, but Escaflowne itself is totally Super.
It's not a super. Supers are more like super heroes, whereas reals aren't. Supers = Superman Reals = Batman Batman has no super powers. He's just a guy, he may be a hero but he's not a superhero. Probably not the best analogy. But you don't see Van Fanel yelling out attack names and powering his mech with courage and hotblood.
No it isn't. Not a single mecha series aside from perhaps Votoms is grounded in realism at all. GaoGaiGar, Gurren Lagann, Getter, Mazinger, those are Supers. By your logic some Gundams are Supers because they transform. They're not, though. Transforming doesn't make something a super, and a mech transferring damage to the pilot doesn't make it a super either.
@180223 That sucks ¬¬ betterman rulz.... its like the fucking black selena in SRT W... but at leats you control it in 2 or 3 chapters, same for orgun xD
oh that's too bad. I hope none of their voice actors died if they ever decide a Vision of Escaflowne in a srw which has the characters speak as the attack.
Shame that Escaflowne only appeared in Compact 3. It'd be nice to see it in some other games... although, as is, it wouldn't have a lot of dynamic attacks. However, I could imagine it possessing some if it included Vaan were given something like a "True Sight" pilot ability that activates at 120 or 130 morale, which would give him additional stats and grant access to additional attacks in the same manner as the Super Modes do for the G fighters.

Escaflowne was the second Super Robot anime I ever finished. This brings back a lot of memories.

If your robot ever magically fossilizes due to despair it's not a real robot.
In fact if it ever does anything magically it's fairly suspect.
Escaflowne wasn't that popular in japan, we're lucky it made it's way into super robot wars at all...

Super robot? Despite the connection, it seems more like a real robot. Its power is pretty underwhelming to be considered a super robot.
Super and Real just refer to SRW stats. Is Escaflone dodgy? Then it is real. Is it a tank? Then it is super.

I found the Escaflowne crew really hard to use in this game.
