  • The Appalachian Trail from Unionville to Bear Mountain State Park (mile 1346.2 - 1397.6). We take time off trail to visit my family and slack pack a few low mile days to extend our visit to include a couple of extra evenings.

I have several hike and camps at Harriman last year , none this year. Too busy making a new runway at JFK airport. Nice to see the terrain.

You Easterners may not know this, but there is also a Harriman State Park in Idaho. It’s about an hour up the road from me. Same Harriman family. Being crazy rich has its advantages.
BTW Chaunce, I just listened to the latest Backpacker Radio with you, Zack, and Jabba at Trail Days and I have to say your comments on which trail was harder, the PCT or AT, were really interesting. I hadn’t thought about that way. You’re wise beyond your years.

I’ve decided that I could probably identify /Nips/Easy in a lineup if necessary. Of course, I would not be able to identify his face but I could definitely identify him from the back of his legs and his calves. Y’all are both doing great! #HikeOn

A fellow NY'er! For some reason I thought you were from the west coast. Maybe cause you did the PCT first? I live on Long Island but have family just off 84 in PA near Milford. I am constantly taking the Palisades Parkway, and stopping at one of my favorite bookstores! I love seeing all the thru hikers cross the Bear Mountain Bridge. Really enjoying your videos. I have been following since the beginning. Thanks for sharing your journey. And I agree - Easy will always be Easy

It's nice to see where you grew up, right next to the AT trail.

Yeah Chaunce, Agony Grind descent is way slow when it's slippery. I'm a trail runner and I've run down that thing while it was wet. It's nuts! Great installment of the vlog

Hi Chauncey we are in Connecticut. As your coming through, if you need anything, let us know. My wife and I can meet you at a crossing to drop supplies, magic, etc.

There are more rocks ahead but they are bigger and should be a bit easier on your feet. Being close to home should be comfortable. Today has started a 3 day hot spell followed by a week of warm and humid weather in CT. You are making great progress. Good Luck, Rick

The slack pack warning gave me a chuckle. I don't see what the problem is with slack packing occasionally. It's not like you have a support team the whole way and are glamping most nights. Must have been a nice relaxing and comforting change to stay with your folks for a little bit and see some familiar sights. I've been enjoying your vids and following your journey. Best of luck to you and Easy as you continue nobo. (sorry, man. It's Easy. You can't change a trail name that far into a hike. You missed your chance way back around Fontana Dam or the Smokies. It's a good name, I think. Better than Nips.)
