Chapter I
It was a typical day at the Australian rainforest...
The old general looked into the distance with a stoic expression. His army men were shaking in fear all around him.
"What is it general? Do you see anything?" asked his loyal lieutenant.
"I dont. But headquarters told me that the enemy is at this exact location. Something is off"
"How many are we expecting, general?" a concerned solder asked.
"Thousands.... tens of thousands" answered the general with an unnerving tone
In that moment, a magestic bird appeared, as if out of nowhere, standing in their line of sight.
"Its one of them! Its one of the Emus!" the solder wheezed
"Why is it all by itself?" wondered the lieutenant. "Lets go tame it." he continued, making a step forward.
"NO!" The genereal grabbed his loyal comrade. "Are you dense? Its obviously a trap"
"Can emus set traps?"
"Im not taking any chances... Not after everything i've already seen. Shoot it!"
"OPEN FIRE!" Screamed the lieutenant, facing his troops.
A loud burst of gunshots followed. Countless bullets kept firing as the emu dashed towards the squad leaders, tanking all the bullets.
"look out general!" Screamed the lieutenant, pushing him aside.
The lone emu then pearced through the army like a spear, leaving a trail of blood behind it.
As it got deep inside the squadron, the solders kept hitting their comrades with their own bullets.
"Disperse! Shotguns in C-formation!" the general ordered "FIRE!"
Finally the beast collapsed to the ground.
"Its not dead yet. Keep firing god damn it!" screamed the general.
"Sir, half of our men are out of ammo already!"
"Do we still have the rocket launcher? Get ready to fire it!"
While the squad was preparing, the poor emu squeaked for help.
Then the ground began to shake.
"I have movement on my screen sir." Said one of the scouters.
"Yeah, no shit! You think I cant tell that? How many? Where are they?
"Everywhere..." he replied with a shaky voice
In no time they were surrounded. The entire army was completely encircled.
"I think this is it sir...We are going to die"
The terrifying flock-army formed a wall, standing in formation with astonishing discipline.
One solder emptied an entire rifle mag at the wall of these giant birds, but not a single emu moved an inch.
"Why wont they kill us?"
Then the earthshakes became stronger and louder. So powerful that the men felt it in their guts. The trees before them collapsed and from them emerged a beast like no other.
"Is that an emu?!" Asked the lieutenant in pure awe and terror.
"What have you done to my daughter?!" the beast spoke to the shocking surprise of everyone.
"It speaks!" a voice in the army was heard.
"Oh, I can do much more than that, scumbag"
The emu overlord furiously whipped its tail towards the army, instantly beheading every single solder, except for the general.
"I was just following orders, pleasee! Our family even has a pet emu!"
"So should I spare you, becuase you keep a slave of out kind?"
"Forgive me! I will never be a part of this again!" begged the poor old man, falling on his hands and knees, crying.
"Stand up you pathetic ape! I wont kill you. You are coming with us. And you will tell us everything you know about the military operation"
Then the general got up, holding the rocket launcher in his hands. It was camouflaged, blending with the grass and dirt. The Emu King didnt see this coming.
At first he aimed it towards the wall of emus.
"Go ahead. Even if you run, my scouts will catch up to you in no time"
Then the general aimed at the overlord.
"Be my guest and waste your rocket. It will do nothing to me"
Finally he aimed at the injured daughter of the all-mighty.
"I knew your kind was less than garbage"
"Im taking her with me. Dont follow me or i will blow both of us up"
"Let him go!" ordered the overlord. Then he looked at the officer dead in the eyes and siad: "You will suffer for this. Be certain of that!"
