I saw short term 12 several years before hearing about Brie taking the role of captain marvel. When I found out she was selected for the role I was soooo touched. I watched room shortly after and when the new marvel movie came out I watched it immediately!! I love her so much and she’s the best

Ah, at 14 minutes, Brie talks about "Basmati Blues". I liked that movie but I know that quite a lot people hated that movie. And because Brie gets so much heat for anything she does and did, I don't think she would even dare to talk about liking the movie today. But it proves that actors are just actors and not aware of how controversial a movie can be received. And she's right. She needed to pay her rent, so she took this fun act-sing-dance role. Just watch her own video about her many failed auditions. Actors have to take roles they get offered.
Love that Brie doesn't like high heels. Being an actor is a lonely job. You basically have to hope for your next role unless you are a big star. But you never really no if a movie does great. The general audience doesn't know much if any about the business and how hard it is to be an actor. I'm glad that Brie never gave up although she had enough reasons to give up.

Also, thanks for pointing out how much work and dedication is required for acting - so many times I hear people come out of a theater after seeing a movie and all they have to say is "well that sucked" - I just want to shake them & ask; do you realize how much time and effort went into the film you just saw? How many people poured their hearts and souls into that piece?
That's why I'm convinced that this world does not DESERVE Brie Larson - NObody puts more passion and depth into a role than she does!

According to my comment, I have watched this video 6 month ago. This was shortly after becoming obsessed with Brie Larson. Now 6 month later, I haved watched almost all of her movies (minus two) and have watched watched tons of interviews and talkshow videos of her and now I want to rewatch this video because I will get even more what Brie is talking about exactly.
Finally I can watch this video. Because I had the "pleasure" of watching Short Term 12 today. A very intense, moving, also shocking movie with strong performances. Brie Larson does a great job carying the movie. Without her involvment, I probably wouldn't have ever stumbled up on this movie. Glad I did.
It's great that her parents or mother supported her. We got really lucky that Brie didn't give up her dream despite only having minor success and being mid-20. She really hit the jackpot with Room. She really got lucky but she deservs it. Now everybody knows her. Hope she can take on some deep dramatic roles in the fufure as well.

It's unfair to compare the pre-Oscar Brie to the Brie of Captain Marvel era. Nobody knew her back then. Now everybody does. Now she has to also perform besides movies. But she's not nearly as outgoing as your average Hollywood star. She wants to keep things private.
This interview is great because there is time for Brie to think and breath and answer interesting questions. With CM, she rather has to answer in a funny way and superhero fans are quite special and demanding. Also getting asked the same questions over and over again must be exhausting. Having to be funny, quick witted and to survive while sitting next to media pros.
