You found way more work for yourself than needed. You just need to take off the 32mm axle nut and move the tie rod end out of the way. You then will be able to move the whole assembly to the side, no need to take callipers off. Also, in my civic, you don’t even need to take the fork out, the axle comes out through the fork, yes it is a tight fit but with a bit of silicone spray to help, the axle comes through the fork and new axle back in the same way. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the tips. I backed out on taking out the caliper once I realized it wasn’t needed. But really good to know about being able to slide through the forks if you lubricate.
@@MobileCarMechanic You are very welcome. As I said, it was a very tight fit, it took a bit of wiggling but it worked, it saves you the hassle of taking all that stuff apart and putting it together. However, if you have non OEM axles, it could be a different story. My ones were OEM.
Yikes, you should not whack the axle back into the transmission. Just by taking it out and slightly turning it to change the spindle contact will find the easy way in .

It is a different seal and it also appears that seals are different between manual and auto transmissions. This was on an auto but the process is the same.
whats the part # for the left cv axle? i have a manual s20 transmission on a d16y7 block.. struggling to get the cv axle in that i had in a d16a1 on the s20 transmission

I would not touch tie rod u less you want to pay for alignment
