You aren't mistaken! In the PV Germaine outfit changed colours, maybe to better symbolize that she followed her father's footsteps in becoming a red cladded warrior who led a civil war.
A war hero/criminal is commiting genocide when he discovers a female baby. He almost kills it, but sees from its clothes it is a noble, so he keeps her for a hostage someday instead. The child believes him her father. 5 years later, a group of people realize who she is and decide to kill this opposing noble child, telling the war criminal to give her to them to kill or perish himself. The war criminal is fighting himself over this decision, when the child picks up a sword and stands in front of him to protect him. This causes him to decide to defend her, be her father, and ultimately redeem himself.
