    I've owned two AE's in my life. Both were the smartest and funniest dogs I've ever seen Faithful and loyal. Loved to tease. My last one ran to me and fell in my arms when she died. My elderly dad cried for days. Oddly my dad spoke cheerfully of that dog the last day of his life and it was the first time he had mentioned her in years. He never spoke of her much after she died as it upset him. He passed the next morning, 12 years to they day the dog had died,

      WOW. Thank you so much for sharing both of those amazing and touching stories. Both are testaments to the kind of bonds we humans have been lucky enough to make with such incredible animals, who have chosen to love us.

      We're so sorry to hear this - they take a piece of your heart when they go. But, YOWZA!!!! 19.5 years!!! That's astonishing!! Hope your memories are a source of comfort until you meet again.

    I lost my Balto in May he would have been 16 this month. I'm sure when the time is right I will get another Eskie as they are such an amazing breed, in the mean time it makes me happy to watch others videos. Also the salute is amazing! As is all the tricks

      We're so sorry to hear about Balto. Atka was lost on 3/31/2019, and then Nuka was lost unexpectedly on 7/3/2020. Kayu is the only remaining Eskie in our house. Atka's and Nuka's losses have been incredibly hard on all of us.
      We're so glad you're able to find some comfort in watching others' videos! And thank you for the compliments on their tricks, too :)

    I have an Eskie! Her name is Elsa and she's the life of the house! I work from home in my backyard and to watch her run back there is an amazing sight! She loves everybody and everyone always wants to pet her! She'd be great in a dog food commercial !

    Eskie ? Isnt that a samoyed ?

    • @AtkatheEskie
      @AtkatheEskie  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% American Eskimo Dog, aka "Eskie". Samoyeds are almost 2x bigger at 60+ pounds. We Eskies are usually around the 25-35 pounds for the standard size (15-19" at the top of the shoulders), and lighter for the mini and toy sizes. We do look similar, but are not related!

    Is this dog not a Japanese Spitz??

    • @AtkatheEskie
      @AtkatheEskie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope - an American Eskimo Dog. Hundreds of years ago, they came from European Spitz dogs, but have diverged significantly from them since.
      The Japanese spitz, though similar in looks and appearance and origins, are different enough that they cannot be interbred and maintain their breed status .

    Where did you get your American Eskimo from?

    • @AtkatheEskie
      @AtkatheEskie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3 dogs in this Sizzle Reel came from different breeders.
      Atka (the star, R.I.P.) came from a now defunct breeder in PA.
      Miss Nuka (12 years old) and Kayu (6 years old) both came from Sierra Eskies in Indiana.
