Ever since it was launched in 2015, the Renault Kwid has been a game changer for the company. And even now if you were to look at the top five most affordable automatic cars in India, the Kwid AMT will ace the list. The updates it got last year have been added to its aspirational value and we have detailed it in our first drive review. The current BS6 model continues to get this exterior appearance and features with a BS6-compliant engine
Powering the BS6 Renault Kwid are 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines that deliver the same power and torque output as BS4. The 0.8-litre engine churns out 53hp/72Nm, while 1.0-litre delivers 67hp/91Nm.
The 2020 Renault Kwid is offered with a 5 speed manual transmission for the variants powered by the 799 cc petrol engine. However, customers looking for an automatic transmission in this segment can opt for an AMT gearbox which is available only in the 999 cc petrol engine in addition to the 5 speed manual transmission.
In terms of safety, Renault Kwid 2020 gets driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders, and a speed-alert system as standard. The higher variants get reverse parking camera and passenger airbags as optional.
The Renault Kwid RXL is the mid range version. This trim comes with a range of features including its exterior cosmetics and interior comforts. Starting with the cabin arrangement, there is a simple design theme highlighted by metallic accents. A high end musical system is present for entertainment needs, and it comes with radio, MP3, USB and an array of other benefits. The seats come with reclining and longitudinal adjustment facilitates, promoting convenience for the occupants. In addition to this, there is an auto-on cabin lighting, along with a door map storage with bottle holders as well
The compact car has a muscular design that brings the impression of an SUV at first sight. Delving into specifics, it has a decent grille at the front, which creates an imposing effect. On either side of this, there are C shaped signature headlamps that are intricately designed with all the necessary lighting units. For this variant, there are body colored bumpers, which bring unity to the front facet in terms of looks. The black door handles and outside mirrors blend into the overall image well, and the attractive wheel rims also support the stylish look.
The new Renault Kwid measures 3731 mm in length, 1,579 mm in width, 1,474 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,422 mm.
Renault offers the in six variants: Std, RXE, RXL, Neotech, RXT and Climber. While the first five variants are offered with a 0.8-litre engine, the 1.0-litre engine is limited to the RXL, RXT Neotech and Climber variants. Even the AMT is limited to the 1.0-litre engine option.
Renault Kwid car is available in 8 different colours - Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze, Electric Blue, Zanskar Blue, Moonlight Silver Body with Zanskar Blue roof, Zanskar Blue with Moonlight Silver roof.
2020 Renault Kwid gets 28-litre fuel tank capacity. The Renault kwid mileage for a smaller capacity 799cc petrol engine has not been revealed by the manufacturer. The fuel efficiency of a larger capacity 999cc engine is 23kmpl for manual and AMT transmission. On a full tank with a 1.0-litre engine, you can get a range of about 644km
The Renault KWID Price starts at Rs. 2.99 Lakh and goes upto Rs. 5.12 Lakh. The price of petrol variant of KWID ranges between Rs. 2.99 Lakh to Rs. 5.12 Lakh.
Renault has comprehensively updated the 2020 Kwid with new design and added features. It remains to be an easy-to-drive car, its compact dimensions are a boon, and the cabin is decent as well. Since the new competition has sprouted up - like the Maruti S-Presso - the Kwid might find it hard to capitalize on all its positives. However, the Kwid is definitely worth a look if you are after a small, easy to drive hatchback that has a touch of flair about it.
