Jeep Commander - SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM - EASY FIX

- If you have a Service 4WD System message on your Jeep, in 50% of cases, this will fix it. It should work on Jeep Compass, Liberty, G. Cherokee as well.
If it doesn't work, then unfortunately you will have to spend some $ and have it diagnosed by a professional.

Well #1, you should be in neutral when attempting to shift into 4-LO so there's that. #2, Chrysler has a software flash to fix this issue so take your vehicle to the nearest Jeep dealer and have them do the update (should be free). #3, if there is no dealer nearby, you can swap out the 4WD module (little box underneath the rear driver's side seat) with one that has had the software update (check your junkyards). Just so you know, it took years, complaints, and a class-action lawsuit to get FCA to re-write their 4WD shift package software to correct this issue.

Check another box for the "it worked" column. Even if this turns out to be a short term fix, it can certainly get me out of a bad situation in the crap weather.
I just did this today in my 2006 JGC 4.7L Limited. 100% worked
If your in a pinch and stuck, remember this trick to get your low range working.

You're welcome. It is a quick fix which should work for a longer time. If it keeps happening then you will have to take it to a shop for a proper diagnostics

Doesnt Work for my commander 2008
2007 Grand Cherokee. When I put my foot on the gas, the two right tires both break before then allowing the wheels to turn. the code reader isn't giving me anything and the car says service 4WD system. will this fix the issue or is this have to do with something else?
if anyone has any advice I'm all up for suggestions.
I've read it's either fuse 33 or 25, but neither works to reset my 2008 4.7. Any thoughts?
Does this fix your 4-wheel drive FUNCTION? Or just turn off the light?
It "resets" it and 4 wheel drive should work after this if there is no other problems with the system in which case light will come back on

I had the same issue with my 07 overland. There was a recall and the software had to be updated

Few hours of labor + around $100 for the condenser and then charge the a/c

@@QuiteAlright i think i got it! i did it once and it went away but came back i did it again and let it sit i haven’t checked it since though but what would cause a ac not to turn off? like i can turn it on off but it just keeps blowing until i turn the key off
@@landen_576 If it keeps coming back then module will have to be scanned and follow up on the codes. a/c keeps blowing could be a number of different reasons such as blower motor resistor, relay, thermostat, electrical issues, etc.
@@QuiteAlright Well i took the fuse out for it and it stopped working i’m to the point of leaving it off it has cold ac but i can’t stand it blowing 24/7 when i’m driving it gets annoying

I have experience only with 3rd generation of grand cherokee 2005 - 2011. On those it does work. Yours is 4th generation, so unfortunately I don't know. You could try looking at your fuse diagram, finding FDCM fuse and give it a try

@@QuiteAlright xD drove me nuggets, I just got done replacing my drive shaft, 2 motor mounts front diff 3 mounts from left axel front left sway bar, both front wheel bearings and drive shaft, now I cant hardly drive anywhere xD

LMAO the thing being fixed in the video is the human error. Clearing the memory of the finale drive control module so it can give the original warning of 'You're doing it wrong' isn't really fixing anything.... I bet if the guy tried to put it into 4-Lo again while in park, it would say the same thing as in the beginning of the video. Meaning the insulting warning light of 'You're doing it wrong' only pops up once, manufacture failure for thinking humans only need one single warning. HA !

Yes it will if that is the problem.
This fix could actually be applied to other Jeep models as well (for example Grand Cherokee).

@@america2ize Try removing that fuse, then start the vehicle, drive back and forth, turn the vehicle off and install the fuse back. See if it changes.
You can also try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes.
One of those 2 procedures could reset your 4WD system.
If both of this suggestions don't work, you will need to have it scanned and see which codes it gives you and go from there.
The fix on the video does not work always, if there is mechanical problem with the 4WD system, it will not work.
The procedure on the video just "resets" the 4WD system.
Dude you should try reading the owners manual before you just pull fuses and drive around.
