  • The Human League introduced synths and electronic sounds to a broad pop audience, and enjoyed massive success and worldwide popularity with their multi-platinum album Dare and various hit singles.
As one of the founders of the band, Phil Oakey must be responsible for the sale of thousands of synthesisers around the world, so it's fitting that we met up with him at SynthFest 2019, where Gaz asked him the 3 Big Questions.

Saw The Human League in Auckland last night and I was standing up front with a musician who only knew a few songs, but even he remarked how well an oiled machine the group still are. At 68 years old, Phil’s voice is still incredible.
Being Boiled in the encore was goosebumps stuff and a real trip down memory lane.
Been years since I last saw them. His energy was boundless, covering all the stage. So ably assisted by the two original members, also sounding untouched by time.
He seemed to be struggling with the heat of the venue, especially in his heavy costuming. Or was he just living out the character in the songs.
Genius and was smiling the whole time, like a person grateful for being able to still share the music.
