Car for the first few miles cannot be put under any pressure once in top gear otherwise gearbox wil bang sometimes violently into a lower gear andthe the gearbox warning light will cime on.
The engine then has to be stopped and restarted to clear the fault and for it to go up through the gears normally.
This can happen several times untill the gearbox oil has warmed up, as if there is too much pressure when the oil is cold.

Solved. Just get the gear to Manuel, drive a while in second gear. Then again Automat. The Problem must be solved.
Fault has now been diagnosed and cured by having the auto gearbox pressure relief valve replaced at a cost of nearly £400, apparently this is a common fault on these cars.

Having this problem with my 2008 Kangoo, if I drive 30mph for around 20 mins suddenly it starts running sweet again and can get my foot down, dam annoying, £900 +VAT to replace pressure relief valve, is it worth it, cars only done 45000 miles.
My wife's clio same problem error code is hard to diagnose you need to wire the computer up when the engine is running and the warning light has tripped it's the preasure regulation . I was advised the only real cure is a new gear box taken the car off of the road now a complete nightmare

Having similar issues with my Renault Fluence - warning lights about check gearbox and then the car locks down in park and cannot even be towed without calling a mechanic to the car. What is the solution if the car is still under warranty ? Can I reset the computer myself? How?
this is happen to me, i think because of my gearbox are still cold...anyway thanks for the advice
Hi, my Renault Clio 2005 auto transmission sometimes not indicating (highlighting) on the dashboard and when I put on D (Drive) it stuck on 3rd Gear. Can you help me to fix this problem. I went to somany garages they all are saying different different problem....I am confused.

I had exactly your problem. The issue was resolved by changing the gear selector. It is a small electronic part.

My Kangoo does this! sometimes it won't start at all.. but if i wiggle the gear selector while turning the key it starts.... did yours use to do this?
mine is at main dealer being done at moment.allso management light on so having new dashboard £849 total

Renault should make samthing about this i think its factory a
problem in all automatic gear box`s .. its two preacher valves what cost from 300 to 500 euro if you drive your car or at list 500 m shut it down and start it again it will be ok... i make this every day but i dont know for haw long it can run like this??

İ had the same problem with my kangoo it was the knock sensor the problem

Hahaha god mine does the exact same thing! Super fucking annoying but it's fine once the car has warmed up. How do you fix this? Anyone have some advice??
