Where are the flattest areas of Escazú to make it pedestrian friendly? Or do you have to stick to Santa Ana instead? Especially for us older folks over 65?
In Escazu very difficult because even the town is steep, as you probably have seen Escazu is just heels and therefore almost nothing is flat, I would say that the flatter area in Escazu is basically the business district around Multiplaza, other than that, not possible. The only option would be Sant Ana.

Good question! yes there are.... Here some options. Curridabat , Tres Rios, Heredia San Rafael and surrounding areas. These areas are very nice and developed so one would be close to good amenities. Actually, Escazu has an area that is colder as well, San Antonio de Escazu is nice and still close 15-20 minutes away from first class amenities.
