Another great lesson! When I was in college studying to be an English teacher, most of my teachers and classmates liked me and we had a great relationship. With a couple of my teachers, we became friends. But two of them seemed to dislike me, for no reason. I'm not to throw anyone under the proverbial bus, but they were like "you're a native speaker of English, but you can't teach!" And one of them got fired, cuz she had problems with many classmates of mine. And the other seemed to single me out. And sometimes she would cross the line. One time she literally told me that my thesis was "a bunch of bullxxxx!" My reaction was to strike a Jesus on the cross pose (Merry Christmas btw) and I told her: Miss, you're crucifying me! There were many times when she crossed the line like threatening me not to let me pass her English course (which was unrealistic, cuz I spent some of my childhood and teenage years in New Jersey and in New York) and things of that nature. But one of the things I'd do to get over those two humps (meaning those two teachers) was to watch this basketball scene from this movie to inspire me, to psych me up when those two teachers were trying to psych me out! And that's one of the reasons why I never try to break my students' confidence! They tried to break me but they failed miserably, cuz I still got my English Pedagogy degree with honors! So, that's why I try to build my students' confidence, or even better, boost their confidence, by giving them pep talks, showing them this basketball scene and motivational scenes, quotes, stories of adversity, whether personal or not, I use every trick in the book! Including, telling them things like "it's ok to make mistakes because you can learn from them" etc. And I don't mean to toot my own horn, but they say that I'm a good motivational speaker. And sorry about this wordy message, but whoever is reading this, don't let anyone shatter your confidence and make you lose hope in fulfilling your dreams! I wanted for a very long time to be a language teacher, and despite all the obstacles, challenges, difficulties, and problems, I made it! So, can you! In the words of Chris Gardner "you want something, got get it! Period!" And in the words of Rudy Tomjanovich, an ex-basketball coach, "don't ever underestimate the heart of the heart of a champion!" And. you're champions if you believe it! And you Ethan and Andrea are definitely champions! Keep going strong with your amazing videos! And God bless you all! Happy holidays and I'm outta here!
