I've seen you twice in concert in 2022 once in Utah and again in New Mexico. This story put a whole new perspective to that because in both shows you were flawless. You moved and sang with grace that I never would've guessed you were ever injured that severely. I wish for you to continue to heal from that traumatic experience and know that you aren't alone out there. Us, your fans are with you and we will continue to stand by you through your healing journey 🩵
Sara this episode popped up on my page. I have to say I've been a PICU RN for 37 years now, I'm 58, and have never had any patient that had to go to surgery like that without anesthesia. Nor would I have ever not called one of my "babies" parents. I suppose pediatric care has come a long way in 45 years depending where you get treated. My heart hurt for your 8 year old self.😢❤
I grew up in St. Paul, Mo...a little town outside O'Fallon, Mo...St Charles County. I'm now 58.. we lost our mom to cancer at 8 yrs old. My dad, sister and brother have all passed on to cancer and diabetes. I'm married to a farmer and we have two grown adults 26 and 22. We raise corn, beans and believe it or not Boer goats. If not for the love of Jesus and our church.. I would not be writing this. Many hugs and much love to you Sara and your family. Know that YOU ARE NEVER ALONE....GOD IS IN CHARGE ALWAYS!!
Love you Sara ❤ Thanks for sharing your story. At 8 years old, I had a log I was on walking on shift and pin me under water for several minutes until some bystanders came by and pulled it off of me. They performed CPR on me and I was in the hospital with my left leg and hip in traction for several months. I remember almost NOTHING of the incident, but my bigger brother (who was 9) remembers every detail of the accident. PS: I travel the highways and byways of rural west and central Texas and have several of your songs on my playlist. Your music is magical. Blessings
Love you Sara!! I always had a connection to you and the deeper you go I know why now, the stories are so similar, the pain, trauma, wanting to be accepted, to be loved unconditionally and to have the relationship with Jesus Christ, knowing He is the reason we heal and forgive and move on in life!! God bless you and your family!!! Love you, ❤! Little bit stronger got me through 1 of the toughest times of my life!!!!
Hi Sara this episode listening to your story really touched my heart. l got hit by a car 3 times riding a bike and was able to get up and walk away from all of them but my bikes totaled though..Thank God lam still alive to tell about it.. l love your music, love you as a person & Iove your podcast..God bless you always & Rock on.. I have always been enamored to the dare I say it “energy” of your music. I can’t define what it is exactly. I have had some physical and emotional traumas which I was strong enough to weather. For 2 years and 3 months I was alienated from my children at the hands of my ex-wife as I had no court appointed visitation and it was the only weapon she had left that would work on me. My attorney couldn’t find her to summon her to court for visitation. Eventually the judge ordered something she couldn’t hide from anymore and after 14 months she screwed up and lost custody to me which became permanent. They were 7&8 then and are 19&20 now and healthy productive members of society. Just wanted to say it was your music that helped get me through many dark nights of the soul. Thank You Hope your reconciliation lasts and you and yours are well! God Bless
Hi Sara, I really appreciate your vulnerability and sharing this story. And it even helped me to feel seen in someway because you invited is to share our own stories. Even though you never met me, I still felt seen. I too have always wanted to feel smaller but at the same time I have always felt not seen. Ever since the first time you came on the radio, I have admired you and love you, your music, your sense of humor, and all of the stories you have shared. I appreciate you sharing yourself and your life with us fans. I would like to email you one of my stories. A Little Bit Stronger has been my life story.
I was also 8 yo when I had an accident requiring me to undergo 2 surgeries. I can relate with a lot that you went through. Thank you so much for sharing your story! ❤❤
hey girl- You are just one of the best😘 Thank you for sharing this story with us. I am so thankful for people like you that can forgive. I am also happy that you are a believer and know that Jesus loves you no matter what. God is so good to us. He isn't done with you yet Sara☺ Y'all have a wonderful weekend🥰
I was about 5 or 6 years of age. Me and my mom got in a wreck when we was about to pick up my dad from work. I was sitting in the front seat of the car and I was throw out of the windshield. So I know what exactly you are going through! I have a scar on the top of my head. I really love the song A Little Bit Stronger. You are a great person!
❤I’m so very sorry that you were hit when you were 8 years old by a blue pinto. I read your book at least three times.I learned so many things about you and love ❤️ you always for many years.
45:37 When I was 8 years old I was hit by a car walking home from school and almost died.I had internal injuries and broke my femur bone in my left leg. I spent six weeks flat on my back in the hospital with a pin through my leg and weights pulling my bone back together. I remember when I went into have a body cast put on I was so embarrassed because they had to completely undress me and I did not feel comfortable having a man put a cast on me. It's amazing the things you can remember from a tragic accident. Those were some hard times for my parents as well. 2 years earlier our place of business and home caught fire and burned to the ground My parents worked from early morning to late night trying to provide for my brothers, sisters and myself. It definitely made me a stronger person but I too have scars trying not to feel guilty for what I put my parents through.I realize I put a lot on my parents to take care of me for a year and carry me everywhere they went because of my body cast. The driver of the car who hit me was speeding through a school zone and we got very little money because the lawyer my parents hired took most of what the settlement was. I've always loved your music .. you are a beautiful person inside and out. Stay strong praying you continue to touch people through sharing your personal stories.❤🙏
I was 4 years old when I broke my femur...they did the EXACT same thing to me and drilled the pin through my leg with no anesthesia! It was my left leg... and I remember the doctor taking the drill out...
Hurt myself riding bucking horses in rodeo. A broken hip and two ribs. Life is hard and you have survived its a mirical so I can relate. Love and God speed sara.
I always wondered what it would be like to be a big well known singer. I mean, you have all these people working for and with you, but it’s really reliant on you. What happens when you just feel terrible? Or extremely tired, or ill? Then you have to go on stage and perform! What a situation.
Sara, how do we contact you to share our story with you? I have been through a similar type of auto accident that left me in traction and the hospital like you. I want to share this and how your song "A Little Bit Stronger" saved my life.
I was also hit by a Volkswagen Beetle when I was 5 years old .I was thrown several feet 👣 in the air. I remember having red sneakers on, a they were flown in the air.I was told I wouldn’t walk and would be crippled,I would need hip surgeries. The person who hit me was on his way to a job interview he did stop 🛑. Needless to say he had to call his interviews and tell them he had hit me with his car.
You say yall were poor yet you had a motorbike and Nike shoes. At 8 years old that's alot to be blessed with Sara.Ive heard stories where people had to go thru garbage cans looking for a bite to eat,so you were not that poor in my opinion
i know what you mean i died 3 years ago and they brought me back ,i had 2 docs tell me that i was lucky to be alive but i wonder all the time why was i saved.
You were a little kid. Nothing needs to be forgiven. I was also in the third grade when I was hit by a car going about 35. It was totally my fault. However the man that hit me picked me up and set me on a bench and left. I walked home from school and was told to cross the Busy street at the light. I dis obeyed. My parents were besides the self. I was one of the four kids that never got in trouble. Anyway, one of my legs was hurt pretty bad. My parents were afraid I would be crippled. Everything turned out fine. Funny thing was I was pissed that people were driving over my school books. A car of teenage boys stopped to help me.
I wanted to also let you know Iet a girl that was in a wedding with you years ago in Missouri...she sells real estate now in New Melle, Mo....her name is Cassie Cramer. Small world.
I haven’t been in a bad accident or anything I don’t think. I was born with Spina Bifida though and was told I’d never walk or talk and I’m now doing both.
Certainly this accident was a horrifying experience for a child to go through. But I think it was inexcusable for her family to sue the person who hit her. Most parents would think it irresponsible to give a small motorcycle (minibike, as we called it) to an 8 year old. If Sarah needed to forgive anybody, it was her parents for giving her a motorcycle at that age, not the person on the road who hit her. I'm interested in hearing her podcasts on religion. Her notion of envisioning herself as a princess praying to Jesus sounds like the opposite of Christianity. It will be interesting to see if she promotes biblical Christianity or just the pleasure seeking, warm fuzzy, self affirmation pseudo "Christianity" that is currently plaguing the nation.
Sara is one of the best singers ever ...I just love the podcast!
That's an incredible story! God did not want you to go yet! You have such a sweet soul and spirit! It shows in your beautiful voice and personality!
Thank you for sharing this story. Thank you for being real.

My grandma was the one that hit her and she recently passed away in march. That side of my family was to poor to gain anything from suing them.
Have you ever bought your mama house, I?Bet you she has a lot of extra money.I bet you really put money in her account don't you
Weird comment 🤔
