Maybe this movie would be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language if the Philippines submitted it to the Oscars. Sadly, they did not submit a film that year when this movie was released.
Maybe not too late yet, I hope May makabasa at may mag decide na ipasok ito internationally.
This movie doesn't need the Oscars for validation. Film critics who have seen, it liked it.

sana hindi lang ito ma ma-restore. ung mga pelikula noong 1945 up 1960 din. ganda ng mga editing at shots noon.
Mahirap na irestore yung mga below 60s na films lalo na kung wala nang mahanap na mga negative film copies nito dahil nasunog na o kaya talagang sira na yung mga negative films nito.

Imee was just a director General. Dahil sa nepotism ng tatay nya. Pero ang producer nito ay sina Charo Santos. Imee was not directly involved with this and other films by ECP.

we have actually restored MMK THE MOVIE. it will show on ABS November 11 but not as HD though the master is the restored HD

we are still working on the trailer of ORO PLATA MATA but the restoration is already completed. More than 1,500 hours of manual restoration alone.

but this isn't the first Philippine classic film restored. Genghis Khan and Oro Plata Mata were among of those films restored. I hope more classic films to be restored and colorized especially the Pre-World War Films where we were able to produce Hollywood-like films.
