I am still in awe everytime I watch Walang Himala. It's so plain and yet so deep. It's creatively easy to watch but it tickles your awakening into something that you yourself cant point out.
there are so many filipino classic films worth watching. i just hope that restored versions of these films would be uploaded in youtube with the approval of of copyright owners especially if they can no longer be shown in movie theaters. at least lovers of great films can still enjoy them even if only in a smaller screen.

I think that the Top 5 films you mentioned here can be rearranged and still, no one will complain. They are simply great films that will transcend for the longest time. It's worth noting how Rosa Rosal of the 50s was forgotten and/or overshadowed, but her acting skills were superb. I am a big fan of her.

And to put Oro Plata Mata in a high rank is for me is a little bit overrated over to Brocka's Maynila sa Kuko ng Liwanag which for me so far is the Best Filipino Movie Ever Made, The movie Himala will be my 2nd or 3rd.. So far the present have the likes of Brilliante Mendoza's Neo Realist, while Lav Diaz has this Tarcovsky vibe, we need to see more from the millennial group, also in come up with sharp stories. I think it's not about how expensive the gear, expensive film making education background, etc. in creating a greater film, it's how creative & original & setting a trend thru doing something within alternative produced film. 😘

Never like Vilma Santos. Pasigaw pag umarte. Medyo over acting. For a Filipino, medyo sophisticated itsura nya. May mga body movement sya na nakaka-distract. Sa una tingin mo ok but as you go on in the long run, mukhang akting, malayo sa realidad. Good actors are the ones who will make you feel the real deal.

U had me in some on the list. But I wouldn't place Jose Rizal on the second spot. I wouldn't include Anak in the top 20. And Tanging Yaman wouldn't be in the top 10. These films deserves noticeable recognition but not to be considered as one the Greatest Filipino Films of all time. I am looking for Moral by Marilou Diaz Abaya. Hinugot sa Langit should be considered at least in the Top 20. ITIM is worth mentioning as well as Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag itim ng Tagak by Celso Ad Castillo. It's just my point of view. Overall it's a respectable list.

Greatest kasi malalim. Hindi agad mauunawaan ang mensahe kung hindi mataas ang kaaalaman sa paggawa ng pelikula. Greatest kasi kahit anong panahon hindi naluluma ang mga elementong isinangkap sa pelikula. Naiiba lang sitwasyon pero iisa pa rin ang diwa sa ibat ibang panahon at pagkakataon.
Pero sana isinama nyo rin yung obra ni Aktor/Director Cesar Montano na "PANAGHOY SA SUGBA" - The Cry in the River. Kahit na hindi masyado kumita sa takilya, eh hinangaan naman sa Foreign Film Festival tulad ng Brussels Film Festival kung saan nanalo pa si Cesar Montano ng BEST DIRECTOR.

U had me in some on the list. But I wouldn't place Jose Rizal on the second spot. I wouldn't include Anak in the top 20. And Tanging Yaman wouldn't be in the top 10. These films deserves noticeable recognition but not to be considered as one the Greatest Filipino Films of all time. I am looking for Moral by Marilou Diaz Abaya. Hinugot sa Langit should be considered at least in the Top 20. ITIM is worth mentioning as well as Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag itim ng Tagak by Celso Ad Castillo. It's just my point of view. Overall it's a respectable list.

Greatest kasi malalim. Hindi agad mauunawaan ang mensahe kung hindi mataas ang kaaalaman sa paggawa ng pelikula. Greatest kasi kahit anong panahon hindi naluluma ang mga elementong isinangkap sa pelikula. Naiiba lang sitwasyon pero iisa pa rin ang diwa sa ibat ibang panahon at pagkakataon.

Pero sana isinama nyo rin yung obra ni Aktor/Director Cesar Montano na "PANAGHOY SA SUGBA" - The Cry in the River. Kahit na hindi masyado kumita sa takilya, eh hinangaan naman sa Foreign Film Festival tulad ng Brussels Film Festival kung saan nanalo pa si Cesar Montano ng BEST DIRECTOR.

For me one of being a great film's quality is un-remake/ it's hard to do remake, even if somebody attempt, it would come up inferior.
