Onya Nurve is giving that old-school type of drag that we all know and love deeply. And because her drag is so warm and familiar, it makes you want more of her. It's like coming home and having a big blanket and a nice cup of hot cocoa waiting for you. That, and the way she sells herself and is so sure of herself and her drag is unparalleled. She, Suzie and Lexi are my top 3 for sure :D
I sympathise with your perspective, but only picking the winners for a top three is shortsighted. Even if you enjoy what they do, separately from the fact they won, I suggest you think more deeply and look around more.
It truly feels like it's anyone's game. At this point last season I guessed it was either nymphia or saphira's game to win. Season 15 really was dominated by sasha colby. I liked both of those seasons, but this season feels so much more open. It's what I loved most about season 14 and I'm glad to see it.
My favorite thing this season is the queens don't seem to edit themselves and are all giving each other shade, but you can tell that they call are vibing with each other as if they have all known each other for years. What bothered me with the makeup critique for Arriety on episode 4 was that Michelle had complimented her the week before for softening it for the design challenge. She already showed you that she's verse Michelle, let her be!
The frustrating thing about Arrietty's critique is that *she changed her makeup on episode 3* and Michelle loved it. The second she went back to her signature look, Michelle read her and asked for versatility. Girl, you saw it last week, let her breathe!!
You’re so right about the parody commercial challenge. The vibes were so good!! and the tumbleweed was crazy. seeing them work together creatively like that and supporting each other in executing their visions was so endearing. 😭 compared to the choreo challenges or acting challenges where the judges sit there unimpressed when the queens don’t deliver an unfunny line the way they imagined it in their head, it was refreshing.
Loved your thoughts on Lexi Love. As a Louisville resident, it's not just fun to cheer her on, but to see her so loved by RPDR fans everywhere! The first time I went to a drag show in Louisville, I saw her and thought, "If anyone from Louisville could make it onto Drag Race, it's her." Who knew she'd not just be on S17 but a favorite to win? (We did, here in Louisville, that's who!)
I am so happy that queens aren't afraid to be petty, something that has been lacking these last few seasons because they have been so afraid of the fan base. This is a reality show at the end of the day and we NEED those petty arguments
This season really feels fresh and I'm excited every week. It's the second season I actually get to watch live basically. I also live for the cast. I can say something nice about every queen. I enjoyed all of them in some way. I don't care about the twist, but it also doesn't bother me like S14.
Untucked has been a lot more entertaining than it’s been in years. Like these first 4 episodes were so entertaining and most of that was bc of Joella so I don’t think it’ll be as entertaining without her but I am noticing they aren’t letting the guest judges come in every ep since Doechii and the judge for ep 4 didn’t come which is great bc it got tired when the guest judges came in with the same stuff every ep.
I’ve really been enjoying this season too. I like that they shared the receipts from rate a queen this time. Btw congrats on your finish in San Antonio! 🎉
I’m obsessed with the last challenge. With them making it themselves it felt so different and so good. I also love this cast so much so I know it’s gonna hurt watching people go home.
I agree w all of this and I also love how the part they release early on TH-cam has been the picking process for the challenges as well, I’ve never really been a fan of that part because I’ve been so impatient to see the challenge and runway but having it early has made it feel more suspense building
Here so fast I beat the notification but your early season videos are always really good for contextualizing what works and what doesn’t! Oh you’re right about Crystal she’s giving Rose levels of professionalism which may not be the best long term which is annoying cause she’s talented and I hope Arriety knows how much we love her mug
What’s really working for me is how this cast doesn’t seem afraid to state their minds to us AND to each other. On top of that, the drag delusion is at an all time high with some, and they’re not afraid to rig the competition for their benefit. The cast is just a bunch of Plane Janes and I love that😭😭
That's bizarre. Did they think you meant it as an insult, or did they maybe think you were posting season spoilers (implying Crystal never gets a win)?
Drag Race is truly experiencing a renaissance ever since they moved to MTV. UH-mazing previous seasons back-to-back, now we’re just starting off strong (so far)
it is SO cold and horrible how rupaul does the canned “cause vegas is good for you” RIGHT when she’s saying to sashay away like it’s so incredibly soulless and it honestly keeps me from fully enjoying the season. it really takes out any feeling of spontaneity or emotion
So you are not enjoying the season for a 3 second line said Eat the end of each episode? A line that is telling the queens who gets eliminated that they get a free vacation from the sponsor of the show? This is the strangest comment I think I’ve ever read.
It’s so interesting because I also rate a season with how I’m feeling at that time, especially when drag race seasons happen all year round. I tend to not like seasons that air during summer as I’m often in a July/August slump. And love seasons that air during winter, my favorite time of the year.
This season feels very different to me personally, I've drawn the entire cast for the first time and I went to Dragcon UK and I've met all of them backstage and I showed them my drawing and they all recognize it! I was able to kiki with them and it was so fun, and not to mention 5 of them are my age or even younger, it feels like they are my school mates
What I have enjoyed most about this season is the Queens can express their opinions with whomever...and nobody goes off to a corner bawling their eyes out. I think it helps everyone to have good "banter" once in a while!
I've had such a hard time picking a winner or even a top 5 because everyone is just so likeable. Luckyyy, who went home first, had my entire heart up until she left, and even the "shady" or "delusional" queens have been incredible characters like Hormona or Joella. SO excited for next episode!!
i’m really loving this season so far! i love everyone on the cast so much and the challenges so far have been great. i don’t find the dunk tank very entertaining rn though because i highly doubt they’d use the second save so early in the season, but later on it will probably excite me more, and im not feeling as negatively about it as i was when it first got revealed. can’t wait to see the rest of the season!!
When I was watching ep 4 i literally was thinking how good of an episode it was! Them directing themselves and being both shady and helpful, everyone was being funny, CRYSTAL AS THE TUMBLE WEED OMFG. everything about this season is so perfect. All the changes they’ve made have really found a perfect balance that fix so many critiques. Doing a split premiere while having all the queens come in together is definitely my favourite way of doing it. And the badonka dunk take even if it is rigged, it is, is still fun and I feel like it will lead to more fair judging cos they will be willing to put a favourite in the bottom two when it’s deserved bc they know they can save them. The press for this season has been amazing and genuinely I hope the have kori king on a payroll because her weekly vids are like an extension of the season to me! They are TO GOOD and truly have made me love some of the queens that I feel like I wouldn’t of as much if it weren’t for those videos. But the best part of this season has to be the cast 100%! I feel like uk6 shows us how important a good cast is cos omg that was an amazing season and cast. I’m really enjoying everyone on the cast and they all seem to get along and like each other enough to be shady and sisterly. Kori and Lydia also are so cute and the fact there teasing there relationship so hard on social media is so funny to me like there not conferring anything but not denying it eather lmao! Overall just really love the season and this vid!!
Yes! More JackFed content! I'm loving this season so far and for once I feel like I don't know who all the frontrunners are immediately. Last season, you could tell who the frontrunners were immediately and sure enough, those were the top 4 queens of the season. Now? I feel like 7 different queens could make the finale and I wouldn't be surprised with any of them.
ummm no. first of that "talent" show had mostly lip syncs. come on. it's season 17 and all the "talent" they can muster up is a sub par meh lipsync? they can't even dance. lip syncs as talent show should not be allowed unless they do something different with them like marina or anetra or what lexi and susie did this season. from what we've seen so far, we're in for a season of boring lip sync for elimination. like how can you make the song "buttons" meh? somehow they did it. second, that eye-roll worthy of a "twist" with the dunk tank, like we're supposed to believe those levers are even connected to anything and not production pressing a button elsewhere if they want to keep a queen? they're not even trying to hide producing anymore.
@@JayBobert-h1l well if the only thing you can really do is lip sync you're not going to rank someone that can sing live higher than what you can do, right? just sick of mediocre lip syncs as "talent"
@@roguephoenix Oh I get it I'm just saying the talent shows are never judged correctly. It's one of the most rigged challenges. The show rewards mediocre lipsync talent shows. Angeria on AS9 rings a bell. That awful unfunny lipsync won 😂😂 Okay
@@JayBobert-h1l yea especially when it's not the judges judging them. for entertainment's sake though i still want a "no lip sync" talent show. do a whole dance routine instead even if it's their own song. that would be much better.
Tbh I disagree and think the dunk tank may be one of the lamest twists we’ve gotten in a while. Like it’s just chocolate bar 2 imo and it kinda takes the emotion out of queens sashaying away after a lip sync Maybe it’s because last season everyone rlly came out swinging so early (plane being plane, q already being plucked on ep 4, morphine vs mhiya, plasmas story with rpdr live) that this feels kinda boring in comparison. We have jewels vs onya and hormona vs kori but that’s kinda it lol
I really enjoyed S16 but this season has won my heart so far, it feels like when I connected to the queens of S8 years ago and was entertained and invested in their storylines. So looking forward to what the rest of the season has to offer!! My favs are Lexi Love and Suzie Toot, but honestly the whole cast is fab and I'm still thinking about Crystal Envy's quilted coat UGH a dream
Onya Nerve has also won me over tbh lol in the beginning I didn't care for her yet there I was episodes 3&4 rooting for her to get the win... she just exudes an elegance and professionalism but still an ability to have stupid fun, I can always respect that in a person. She's also incredibly educated and talented and I loved the advice she gave to Joella because it is true in general that everything you learn and care about impacts your art and style. Suzie Toot and Lexi are also my favs for the same reasons you mentioned.
this season is doing everything right so far in my opinion! and i LOVE the ENTIRE cast. they are all so sweet and likeable and tbh that doesn't happen a lot imho
I decided to not spoil the season for myself and I've been enjoying it so much more than I would have because I don't have any biases towards who makes it to the end and who gets eliminated
Stop cause when i was like 13 just discovering drag race b4 all stars 3 it was my dream to be on season 17... 20yrs old and still haven't even started drag BUT Ill be there one day ;3
Regarding Arriety: But her white nose and elf near thing is something she's pulled out EVERY WEEK, even when it doesn't add anything to the lewk, or even detracts from it. In this case the white nose and elf ears made her lewk actively worse. Michelle was correct to bring that critique out on Week 4, that's the time to switch it up. Also, I would rather have the Badonkadunk Tank than the chocolate bar or the immunity potion or the "winner gets immunity next week" twist of Season1/2/3.
I agree with you that I liked the design challenge first over the ball. When watching drag race I want to never expect anything like "oh this episode is gonna be the ball" "oh this is gonna be the makeover" etc, so I like when they switch things up and also I only have to mentally catalogue 14 looks instead of like 40 looks which makes me forget some, like I genuinely just do not remember most of the s16 ball runways even if they were amazing. Personally I don't like putting a costume design challenge first at all but that's probably just me
I'm loving it. I also really enjoy the cast. I can say something nice about every single queen and how I enjoyed them! Maybe I'll edit this comment and do it later..
I really don't like budunadunk tank (I have no idea how to spell it). It makes elimination way less emotional and longer. If someone will get safe, it feels like they're safe because of luck, not their talent (even tho production chooses who will stay). I always love in Season 6 when BenDeLaCreme lost a lipsync and Ru says "I wanna see more" - it recognizes talent of a queen, it makes emotional moment and it's more unexpected, because you know that Budukudunk tank will save someone eventually.
The thing I'm liking about this season so far is it feels like pretty much everyone has some or multiple kinds of story/interactions/conflict going on that makes the season feel alive. We have: - Kori and Lydia being lovey dovey - Arrietty's slow villain turn - Hormona pushing everyone's buttons by being kinda conceited - Jewels and Crystal being mad at Onya for stealing the trim/being effortlessly loved by the judges - Onya's low votes in rate a queen seeming to show the girls are threatened - Lexi being positioned as the peoples' champ against more "privileged" queens (esp the ones related to famous queens ie Sam Lana Jewels etc) - Lana/Arrietty's aliance - Joella's... everything - Sam/Acacia sorta having a country off - Lydia putting Sam low in rate a queen as a tension point so yea overall getting a lot of storylines from the show. can't help but notice Suzie Toot isn't having much narrative beyond "she's doing well" rn i wonder if something will emerge there.
One thing I'll say about the production dipping their hands into it is like seeing behind the wizard of oz, i know its reality tv i know it isnt real i want the illusion of choice or randomness. hell i'll even take a dramatic "wait wait im not ready for you to come back" then this random pulling. it just seems...........off?
I really love this season a lot. All the queens are so funny and enjoyable even the ones that I didn’t like at first are coming along to me. The queens are also so social media heavy especially queens like Kori which makes me like him more cause I get to see his personality a lot. Love this season so far. Also all the queens are SO young I mean the oldest is only 34 and the fans are only getting younger. The casts humor is VERY gen z because they all are except for a couple. This feels like the only casts where we know everyone so well.
I feel like people are just making this Michelle thing something when it's not. All she really said was "change things up once in a while" But fans are acting like Michelle told her to never do that nose again. Look at Suzie, her normal style is very 1920s Betty Boop. but she had different make up on, and Im sure she will go back to her normal look soon. Like seriously why do drag race fans have to shove everything into such extremes?
dude, Arriety had a different make up in the previous episode and got praised for that, she had already changed it, and at the moment she brought it back got a pretty shit read from Michelle
I’d want to add I’m really enjoying untucked this season. Will we ever get the catty, overly edited fights of years gone by? No. But i’m fine with that. It feels like we’re just seeing the queens hang out. I think the camera they have in there is great and the more fly on the wall-esque filming and shots make it feel more real. I feel like we’re past the weird transitional stage of Untucked and production have realised it’s just a great way of showing the queens less polished sides. For example, seeing them in small groups me cliques makes it easier to identify the close friendships without the queens having to tell us (which will come in handy for any storylines later down the line) and it feels like you’re genuinely seeing backstage as opposed to an orchestrated conversation.

I sympathise with your perspective, but only picking the winners for a top three is shortsighted. Even if you enjoy what they do, separately from the fact they won, I suggest you think more deeply and look around more.
@@Chestnut-xm2pvok.
@Chestnut-xm2pv who said it's because of their wins?
Not you showing Kori when u say "cheep cheep" 😂🐥5:30
This feels like old school drag race lowkey I’m livingggg
I am so happy that queens aren't afraid to be petty, something that has been lacking these last few seasons because they have been so afraid of the fan base. This is a reality show at the end of the day and we NEED those petty arguments
This season really feels fresh and I'm excited every week. It's the second season I actually get to watch live basically.
I also live for the cast. I can say something nice about every queen. I enjoyed all of them in some way.
I don't care about the twist, but it also doesn't bother me like S14.
so true, seasons 15 and 16 i needed a bit more time to warm up to and decide if i was actually enjoying them, this season i'm loving since episode 1
I've also been living for Hormona I think she's so funny! But everyone I talk to doesn't like her, it's nice to hear someone else like her!!
I have a feeling the second lever is 1 to represent season 17
The ELLA was iconic enough to save why did they waste is on Hormona omg 😂
I’ve really been enjoying this season too. I like that they shared the receipts from rate a queen this time.
Btw congrats on your finish in San Antonio! 🎉
At this point it feels like there are literally no filler queens, for the first time I don’t want anybody to leave
I’m obsessed with the last challenge. With them making it themselves it felt so different and so good. I also love this cast so much so I know it’s gonna hurt watching people go home.
This rivalry between you and RunnerEye is going to finish with a Lip Sync for the Likes isn't it?
babe wake up new jackfed video
I agree w all of this and I also love how the part they release early on TH-cam has been the picking process for the challenges as well, I’ve never really been a fan of that part because I’ve been so impatient to see the challenge and runway but having it early has made it feel more suspense building
The levers are number 1 and number 7 as in season 17! watch next episode : ) pay attention
The cast is just a bunch of Plane Janes and I love that😭😭
I just tried to post on Reddit how Crystal is the Jan of this season, but it got removed
SO excited you’re enjoying it so far 💫✨🩵🩵
Okay, so I'm not crazy. I genuinely enjoy this entire cast and season. Everyone is so iconic.
I think s17 & UK s6 show the perfect balance of a good season
the cast is AMAZING. and they're all killing in social media. so much fun to watch.
I'm excited for all the guests Maddy is going to get from these Vegas prize trips.
I haven’t actually watched a drag race season in years but I have actually tuned in this year.
I love, love, LOVE when Drag Race references and parodies itself. Its just so good
I could agree with you more on this season. I am absolutely loving it!
I’m glad to see you being so positive when I see so much criticism of the cast this season
The main U.S franchise has been having a Renaissance lately. 15-17 are doing what needs to be done
ummm no. first of that "talent" show had mostly lip syncs. come on. it's season 17 and all the "talent" they can muster up is a sub par meh lipsync? they can't even dance. lip syncs as talent show should not be allowed unless they do something different with them like marina or anetra or what lexi and susie did this season. from what we've seen so far, we're in for a season of boring lip sync for elimination. like how can you make the song "buttons" meh? somehow they did it. second, that eye-roll worthy of a "twist" with the dunk tank, like we're supposed to believe those levers are even connected to anything and not production pressing a button elsewhere if they want to keep a queen? they're not even trying to hide producing anymore.
the one girl who actually sang live (acacia) the girls voted in the bottom smh
Like it’s just chocolate bar 2 imo and it kinda takes the emotion out of queens sashaying away after a lip sync
Maybe it’s because last season everyone rlly came out swinging so early (plane being plane, q already being plucked on ep 4, morphine vs mhiya, plasmas story with rpdr live) that this feels kinda boring in comparison. We have jewels vs onya and hormona vs kori but that’s kinda it lol
Why is jack looking kinda 🫦 at 2:23
Jack is always looking submissive and breedable 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I think the other lever will be number 1, making the correct levers: 17
I would love a video on the history of Saved Queens from Carmen and Naysha to bosco and the badonka-dunk tank
this season is doing everything right so far in my opinion! and i LOVE the ENTIRE cast. they are all so sweet and likeable and tbh that doesn't happen a lot imho
I decided to not spoil the season for myself and I've been enjoying it so much more than I would have because I don't have any biases towards who makes it to the end and who gets eliminated
Stop cause when i was like 13 just discovering drag race b4 all stars 3 it was my dream to be on season 17... 20yrs old and still haven't even started drag BUT Ill be there one day ;3
I wanna think the badankadonk is actually fair and the ladders are number 1 and 7 for season 17, I think Daya pointed that out in the pitstop
I'm enjoying it, too. I think S16 kicked off the Drag Race Renaissance and S17 is keeping it going strong.
Honestly the MTV era (15-17) has been really solid so far !!! 13-14 felt sooo boring to me
That part
The way my heart dropped when I read season 17, already!?!?
S17 is like the older (and better) seasons with a modern refresh. S13, 14, 15, & 16 were just there...
7:19…. Do we think thats the first time JackFed has said “I dont know, give it to me”? 😂😂😂😂
Personally I don't like putting a costume design challenge first at all but that's probably just me
I love that us drag race is making this amazing comeback esp in these times ❤️
It's just a fancy wrapper over the double shantay.
I will only give up the rigged accusations if it’s 1 for 17
REALLY enjoying the season and the queens so far. So glad because us drag race can be hit or miss 😊
The thing I'm liking about this season so far is it feels like pretty much everyone has some or multiple kinds of story/interactions/conflict going on that makes the season feel alive. We have:
- Kori and Lydia being lovey dovey
- Arrietty's slow villain turn
- Hormona pushing everyone's buttons by being kinda conceited
- Jewels and Crystal being mad at Onya for stealing the trim/being effortlessly loved by the judges
- Onya's low votes in rate a queen seeming to show the girls are threatened
- Lexi being positioned as the peoples' champ against more "privileged" queens (esp the ones related to famous queens ie Sam Lana Jewels etc)
- Lana/Arrietty's aliance
- Joella's... everything
- Sam/Acacia sorta having a country off
- Lydia putting Sam low in rate a queen as a tension point
so yea overall getting a lot of storylines from the show. can't help but notice Suzie Toot isn't having much narrative beyond "she's doing well" rn i wonder if something will emerge there.
JackFed promoting his opp, truly the king of the people, runnereye wishes!!
Actually loving this season
Runner and Jack is my new fantasy ✨🫦
I miss season 16, that cast was iconic!!
I love your content. Ever considered letting the room breath by not editing/removing natural pauses between sentences?
I feel like people are just making this Michelle thing something when it's not. All she really said was "change things up once in a while" But fans are acting like Michelle told her to never do that nose again. Look at Suzie, her normal style is very 1920s Betty Boop. but she had different make up on, and Im sure she will go back to her normal look soon. Like seriously why do drag race fans have to shove everything into such extremes?
dude, Arriety had a different make up in the previous episode and got praised for that, she had already changed it, and at the moment she brought it back got a pretty shit read from Michelle
This season is soo good fr 😭
Finally a SANE and real opinion about this season, I can’t stand the “this season sucks” etc comments, like what are these people’s standards here?!?
I'm loving this season too! ❤😆
I can’t explain just how much I love Lexi and want her to win it ❤
RuPaul and his writers are geniuses this season!
I thought the same thing about this challenge. Glad I want just drunk
