  • Ebenezer Scrooge is one of the most infamous characters in world literature. Yet, he had several real-life inspirations, including Jemmy Wood, the miserly banker who lived and worked in Gloucester. Despite being one of the richest men in England, he refused to pay for carriages, collected scraps of coal at the docks, and became so hated that people bombarded his funeral hearse with stones!

A very interesting video. It's strange how characters come about. There probably is a character in all of us, but some out do the others. So we get a miserable money saver.. becoming a popular character for a brilliant author. Your video had a slite brake in it.. Lovely narrated and I'm looking forward to seeing you next time. Thank you 😊

That is a good way to look at it. Jemmy Wood is not a very nice man, and you can tell that by his funeral! Yet, Charles Dickens takes his life and turns it into something good. Thank you for letting me know about the break, and thank you for supporting the channel!
