Have to say, this caused an unbelievable traffic jam when that's the last thing we needed. Portions of the interstate were shut down around Asheville today (while most all smaller roads are still closed from the unprecedented flood), when people are desperately trying to get to work. I've lost so much work already and everyone here is struggling. I couldn't believe the reason I couldn't get to work today wasn't because of Hurricane Helene, but that Trump was coming. Someone please explain that for me.

The best thing that politicians can do in these types of emergencies is stay at their offices and make sure the organizations on the ground are getting the support they need. That's what real leaders do. Showing up for a photo op and wasting resources that are needed in recovery efforts may be good optics, but is the worst thing that politicians can do.

Debris has to be cleared before manufactured homes can be installed. 3. Manufactured homes must be installed well above ground in flood zones. 4. Manufactured homes don't make sense when families are staying in hotels and planning to rebuild their home. GOP militias' death threats against FEMA workers are slowing reconstruction.

The best thing that politicians can do in these types of emergencies is stay at their offices and make sure the organizations on the ground are getting the support they need. That's what real leaders do. Showing up for a photo op and wasting resources that are needed in recovery efforts may be good optics, but is the worst thing that politicians can do.

Where are all the FEMA mobile manufactured homes, that FEMA is suppose to have stock piled in various locations.
1. FEMA exhausted many of them for other disasters -- previous hurricanes and wildfires -- and the GOP refused to provide any funds to replenish them, despite worsening disasters.
2. Debris has to be cleared before manufactured homes can be installed.
3. Manufactured homes must be installed well above ground in flood zones.
4. Manufactured homes don't make sense when families are staying in hotels and planning to rebuild their home.
GOP militias' death threats against FEMA workers are slowing reconstruction.
