    I'm currently enrolled in Phase 3 for Icodec. The study is 54 weeks in total and will be completed by October 2022. What I've found with this insulin is that I tend to experience more lows at the start of the week and by day 7 my blood sugars tend to be running higher until my next weekly dosage. I feel I had better control with once a day Tresiba.

    Good talk about pros and cons. Interesting development. Hope it doesn’t cause a “Lantus Low” kind of effect if one accidentally nicks a blood vessel when injecting. 250 units as a rapid insulin would be real bad for most people.

      That would be horrifying. Let’s hope they get that all worked out in development. Wouldn’t be worth the risk if that was a possibility.

    I just finished this study for icodec. It didn't work well for me, I went back to basaglar after the end of the study and my readings stabilized almost overnight. It worked better for the type 2s in the study. At the end of the study I was taking 150 units, at U-700.

      That’s really disappointing to hear. I guess we’ll see, maybe they’ll keep working on it before it’s released. Might just not be a feasible option though for type 1 diabetics, and I’m kind of okay with that, the thought of a once a week basal insulin is a bit scary to me.

    The variability from day to day and even hour to hour in the way your body reacts to insulin makes this a very bad idea. Once it's in your body, there is no way you can make any corrections. If anything, taking smaller doses makes much more sense. I personally prefer taking multiple injections and have more control rather than putting my faith in a product that promises too much.

      I definitely agree. I make changes to my basal insulin day to day and being locked in for a week can be a scary thought.

    Isn't taking such a large amount of insulin in one shot extremely dangerous as to put a person into a deadly hypoglycemic coma? I realize it would not be quite like a normal shot of insulin but still, I don't know.

      I certainly could understand your fear as I share the same thoughts. But the insulin breaks down slowly over the week so you only get a small dose at a time. It’s the same idea with 24 hour basal insulin we currently use, we give the full dose up front but it slowly breaks down over 24 hours.

    Is it work for type 1diabetes??

    • @diabetesdailydigest

      The newest study did include type 1 diabetics so hopefully they will find it effective and safe enough to clear it for type 1 diabetics.

    Brother I inject 4 times a day🥺🥺
    When will it launch globally?

    • @diabetesdailydigest
      @diabetesdailydigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m hoping if they finish the trials sometime this year that maybe we’d have a shot of seeing it end of this year early next year. But it’s always hard to predict with fda approval etc. But I’m right there with ya with 4 injections a day so I’m anxiously awaiting it’s release too.

      Same here. Yep works for both Type 1 and Type 2 from my understanding.
