In 1995, I was 13. I remember by that time grunge was at its height. I was in middle school. We wore denim overalls, dark plaid flannel button-down shirts, and baby doll dresses. Beaded Y necklaces, backpack purses, and peace frog t-shirts were popular at my middle school in Maryland.
My mom would never spend money on UGGs when I was younger, so I wore the Bear paws 😂 which I wasn’t mad about. I didn’t buy my own UGGs until 7 years ago when I worked at a shoe store. I’ve always loved UGGs and never thought they went out of style, I just could never afford them and my mom wouldn’t buy them for me!
Gen Z thinks Y2K is all juicy couture and glitter. It was more emo/normcore. We shopped at forever 21/Payless. Nobody could afford hollister or juicy couture
@@randomuser0483 juicy was very expensive. I bought some that was full price. But mostly I got on the clearance rack. I also got very nice pieces at goodwill.. I would also get juicy clothes given to me.
I really love your videos since I of course grew up in the late 90s early 2000s....I would love to see examples pop up on screen as you are talking about the different items or styles to reminds of or even if a younger person is watching they can see what you're talking about!!!
I feel the same way when I see velour tracksuits. It does almost feel like a costume. I will say I did ditch the Uggs when they weren’t “cool”, lol, but you will never catch me ditching the big sunglasses, EVER! lol Please don’t let the scrunched hair with straight bangs come back. But even if it does, there’s no way Gen Z will be using the Wet-2-Straight hair tool lol.
As a junior millennial, i gotta say that our gen z is kinda stuck in the 90s atm (i'd say it's a more extra version of the nineties, given the makeup and accessorizing), so the 00s trends don't show as much. by the time zoomers actually start dressing like the 00s here, i think I'll be around your age at this point, bc we're that slow. currently, my mother is the one who feels old due to fashion trends, however, considering the trend cycle, my time will come I, personally, am glad that all of these trends are coming back, but if gen z suddenly starts looking like amanda bynes during 2003-2005, i'll feel like a fossil, lol. however, if they bring back the orange fake tan and the belly button piercings i'll feel awkward As for age, i kinda think it's easy to adapt those trends to fit our age. i'm not very lucky, unfortunately, bc i'm baby-faced, short and flat from both sides, so I can easily pass as gen z and bc my current style preferences only make it worse, lol. i can't picture adapting skater t-shirts to something I'd wear in my late 20s-early thirties, so i'll just switch to something that would make my father and grandfather feel old, while preserving my core (tomboyish and alternative) identity.
It’s not always about “following” trends, it’s that those were the clothes that were available in stores at the time. Unless you dress like a caveman, you are wearing modern fashion in one sense or another. Also, it looks like you have a side part, which is totally a trend. 😂 If you think you’re not like other girls, you’re probably exactly like other girls.
@Kirsten considering I've had a side part most of my life, no its not a trend, it's the way my hair lays with the calicks I have. I never did the bump it, the long tanks with the bubble band, the bodycon dresses, never had shrugs or large plastic jewelry and still have never had Uggs. Most people that aren't followers find what they like and just stick to it, and don't judge whatever anyone else wears or what they like.
Her part's not even visible? And there are only like two places to part hair anyway - middle or side, so it's naturally going to fall one way or the other even without outside influence? What is this comment?

As long as 2023 offers more lengths of tops and more COLORS, I’m here for it! Thanks for the video!
Seriously. And why to the half-shirts somehow cost more?? 😂

I'm a few years younger than you, but wow, the Winnie the Pooh shirt with the beanie baby keychain took me back. Love your channel!

Also juicy and glitter is mcbling not y2k!
@@jennaabarclay right! Y2K is more metallic/blues/futuristic aesthetic.
@@randomuser0483 juicy couture was very expensive in the 2000s that’s the point lol. Everybody is romanticizing the 2000s and 2010s
Let the teens put their spin on things lol we definitely put our own spin on the 70s back in the 2000s 😂

Nice video Jena!! You are really iconic, please never change!💕🤭
Pants that aren't skinny leg make me look so large. I hate it. I feel so overwhelmed by the extra fabric lol
I wish there were more pictures my brain is foggy trying to remember all of them 🤣🤣

I miss the smell of the Aussie “sprunch” spray in my crispy crunchy hair haha 😂
Ahh yes, flashbacks to the sounds of my sizzling hair & the steam cloud erupting from it…🤣🤣😩
I’m tempted to get duck nails and do a social experiment to see how people react 😂
Please do it and let us all know what happens 🤣🤣
Love this episode 😅
Girrllllfriend you have me laughing so hard
please do more of these Talks in Class 🙏🙏🙋♀️🙋♀️💕💕
Girl, I never gave up my uggs either 😂
Do. You have pictures of the bbq sauce spray tan? Please post!
I need to dig for some! I’m sure it doesn’t look as bad in pictures but IRL it was not cute 🤣
I love your channel!
I couldn't remember what the duck nail looked like and I google it and now I am horrified.

i thought we were not doing beige this year!!
so who is your target audience
The long tops are the worse 😢 esp the ones that had the band or like the bubble bottom . Ugh never 👎
what are duck nails
I've never followed trends very close so luckily I missed out on most of the "I never wanna see it or wear it again" trends!

@@Kirsten_is_cursed10 This was kind of unnecessarily rude...? Her comment didn't even come across as 'i'm not like other girls'.
