Cycle key on and off three times make sure the fluid is full in system now drive vehicle in manual mode you want very high temps and for the the def pump to clean itself with high pressure demand. 40 miles per hour in 3rd gear for about 5 to 10 mins or until oil temps rise to about 235 or so if this doesnt work repeat the steps but this time if you have a exhaust break turn it on turn traction off and tow haul mode on. You will not mess up the truck unless its chipped and straight piped at which point you wouldn’t even have these problems to begin with. No i was stuck at the 5 hour mark from home coming from Phoenix heading to norwood Colorado to pickup a 40 foot gooseneck trailer so trust me my hotshot dreams were in my stomach. I watched some regen videos heard what all you guys had to say then said 🤷🏾♂️ since its under warranty and a tow will cost a couple thousand anyway might as well try whatever. It absolutely worked and im pretty sure i wont be taking it to the dealer as the car fax shows the pervious owner already replaced the heater in the def tank. The warning light and 50 miles to 50 mph message disappeared and decided to continue to norwood to pickup my trailer. You either believe this or not but trust me these engines are solid its the def crap that sucks and i cant remove it if i wanna be DOT legal at weight stations hope this helped somone out like it did almost stranded 300 miles from home🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
After adding Def the light & 50mph limiter was still on...drove it short distance twice. Speed was still limited...all I could see were dollar signs going to the dealer. Read ur post, did exactly what u said & it worked!!! Thank you!!! U just saved me money & heart attack!!
I really needed this. What I learned is that it doesn't actually limit you while going down the highway and it drops to 0 miles. I am on a 900 mile trip so as long as I don't shut off the truck then I can make it to my destination. For whatever reason, I shut my truck off and restarted it 60 seconds later and the DEF fault and speed limiter fault went away. If it happens again on the way back home and the reset doesn't work when I shut it off at least I know just to keep it running until I make it back.
Thank u for your information! I watched it, then drove from East Tn to Myrtle Beach. My exhaust fluid went to empty half way there, even though it was full of DEF. I got the message as you had posted. I left it running when I filled up twice with diesel while pulling a 5th wheel. I would add, another warning started later, it said truck would go to idle soon. It didn’t. I made it all the way there with no problem. But as you said, once I shut the truck off, my speed was limited to 50 mph. I had it repaired while at Myrtle Beach!!
I just had this warning light come on today indicating I only had 50 miles to go before I would be limited to 50 mph. But after just 15 minutes or so the warning light went out! Any idea what to expect next?
Add 4 gallons of DEF and it will reset by itself. Unless you have a problem with the sender unit inside the DEF tank which happens. I’m actually fixing one in the shop currently. Resetting the code will not work if it’s a sender unit problem.
Good video. Thx for the Help. I have a 2012 Ford f350 that went into def idle only mode. I'm also a semi truck driver. And deal with def regen all the time. So I replaced my MAF sensor because of engine light on. Then I basically manual regen'd my Ford by keeping the rpm's between 1500 and 2000. Ideally at 17-1800. I set a timer and it took 6 and half minutes and the def light turned off and my truck was able to drive away. If you dont believe me at 38 years old. Ask my mom that I drove off from. 👍 It's dumb we dont have manual regens available like we do on the semi trucks. Hope this helps. It worked for me.
I have a 2016 F350 and it's been throwing a P205C error (reductant DEF heater error) periodically - it's there then it's gone. I don't get a DEF error, just the P205C. During a recent long drive, it would pop up with '500 miles' of DEF left (which I knew was wrong because I just topped it off). Now it is counting down (tank still full). Am I likely to get the 50 MPH limit or an idle limit in this case? We're currently in rural Virginia and having a hard time finding a dealership who can provide timely repairs. Any help will be appreciated

Just had this happen and governer kicked on about 30 miles after the zero mark ..so even if your going to push it down the highway you might want to keep a backup route in mind
Gee, thanks for the driving tips. I never would have made it. All this blah blah blah. How about the fix? Oops! Now correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this 50 mph have a limit and eventually it gets stuck at idle?
My truck did the same BUT after that if truck run a lot going on 50mph the truck next safety test the truck automatically will go into idle and WILL ONLY let you go 2mph, i own a 2016 ford f450 6.7
My buddy's truck had the same problem it was still under warranty the dealership cannot fix it they put a whole new engine in it still have the problem

How about showing us how to fix this?

Thanks . I have 493 miles to go. I will leave it running till I get home.
EGR and DEF system delete. I don't want the EPA telling me what and when and how I should drive.
That’s not helpful. How do I reset this when it malfunctions?
HOW DID YOU FIXED THE PROBLEM

How far can you drive with it like that? Just happened to my truck today. Dealership closet to me is about 60 miles from my home.
I just put deionized water in my Def tank, works great!
I used the obd fixed and it cleared all in less than two minutes
Great Video...is that 50mph limit good for all Ford Diesels? I have a Ford Turbo Diesel on my RV?
Does it use DEF?
Just had this happen and governer kicked on about 30 miles after the zero mark ..so even if your going to push it down the highway you might want to keep a backup route in mind
Or def on-board to fill the tank, which fixes this problem.
Sooooo.....how do you fix it or do you not have the parts to do so?
+Robbie Frame II Thanks for watching! Here is a video on how to fix this issue: th-cam.com/video/SgNy_OutXCY/w-d-xo.html
add def.
How do you fix that problem?

How do you fix your problem
Put def fluid in it...thats what the warning is, you are out of def...
@Heywoodj1969 i just did this and it didn't work and had 2 check engine codes come up
I’m trying to find a good
place but I don’t know which one is best.
All that to tell me it will only go 50????? How you explain why its doing that and how to fix it?

This was no help lol my truck is doing this and I need it not to do it, I can't go pass 45mph

Great but how do I fix it when I am not low on def fluid
Any luck figuring it out? My truck is doing the same thing.
Exact same thing happening here My def fluid is full
I filled up and the warning is still on. What should I do?
Did yoiu get an answer, mine doing the same
I wonder if clearing the code reset the miles until 50 limit ...
No it does not, it’s a hard code so it can’t be cleared. Just tried on mine today
Ditto.. Code dose not clear
that will get you killed on interstate, carry a scan tool clear faults before it gets to end of mileage is better solution.
My buddy's truck had the same problem it was still under warranty the dealership cannot fix it they put a whole new engine in it still have the problem
