Jet Powered Scooter

  • I Mount a Jet Engine on my Electric Scooter to see just how crazy it will be and how fast it can go!.
The electric scooter that I'm using is an all-wheel drive Fiido Beast, the jet turbine has almost 100 lb of thrust, it's a really crazy project and one of the few projects that I was actually a little afraid of a little.
The scooter has a combined weight with me as the rider of about 300 lb, so that is quite the power-to-weight ratio.
The scooter was a ton of fun even without the jet engine I have taken this thing on road Off-Road and I usually get to the store faster on the scooter than in the car, in the city at least.
Here's Links to the Fiido Beast Electric Scooter and the HydroDiesel, after riding this scooter I never looked at any other scooter the same again, I have so much fun on this thing!.

I can't believe nobody came out of their homes wondering why a jet engine sounded so close. Imagine chilling in your living room, and then hearing the sound of that turbine spinning up and thinking "did they build an airport nearby?"

I would suspect that it's not regenerative braking that's causing the issue. Rather the motor controller can't cycle the magnet phases quick enough, meaning they won't be pushing/pulling at the correct time.
Alternatively you are indeed generating to much power and it is starting to flow backwards into the motor controllers. Regenerative braking works like this, but only when the brake switch is triggered and it is turned on.
If your scooter has a coasting function then it may solve the problem by turning it on.

    - Steering damper. Bolts on easily and will drastically reduce that dreaded speed wobble.
    - Street tires. Less rolling resistance and will be a lot smoother and faster. Should be easy to find them in the 10 or 11 inch size.
    - Higher end scooter such as the Rion RE90. This scooter can hit 120 kmh (75 mph) WITHOUT a jet engine strapped to the back lol. (You should also be able to flash the controller to remove the speed limiter if it has one)
    - If you get all 3 of those plus your jet engine expertise, you should be able to set the world record for fastest scooter ever! Cos why not!

The fact that the front wheel starts to wobble at a certain speed is due to the scissors-type suspension design. With this type of suspension / design, the wheel actually always wants to turn 180° [to the direction of motion] because it would be so in a natural way in the track.😎
Example: If you have ever taken a closer look at the small castors of an office chair, you will have noticed that the point that holds them to one of the five struts of the office chair is not in the center but shifted outward.
If you hold a wheel at the top of the shaft and push it forward, the wheel immediately rotates 180° & naturally lies in line.
Exactly the same thing the wheel of the scooter wants to do.... If you were to turn the design 180° so that the suspension would face the rider (there are scooters that are built this way...) then the wheel would naturally lie in the track and cushion shocks.
Since e-scooters are usually designed without jet engine & such high speeds, such a scissor suspension design is still acceptable - although it is purely technically a misconstruction - because it brings unrest into the driving behavior, thus unsafe and ultimately dangerous..🙃
    Kind regards,
    ζicᾰdἒ_Διphφ 💫🛸😊

You see a similar thing in motorcycles. It's called the "Death Wobble", and once it starts you're pretty much guaranteed to go down. Basically, he's lucky he stopped when he did, as a crash was imminent. The thing is though, he's actually lucky he didn't just slam on the brakes, because when you're in a death wobble if you try to brake and stop, it's just going to get even more out of control. You just have to keep going and holding on, not trying to fight it. Trying to fight it just makes it worse. It will naturally correct itself. But most people panic and try to fight it, which is why they go down. It's not always correctable though, most of the time once it starts it can't be stopped. He's just lucky he was dealing with small wheels at a lower speed instead of large wheels. That's the only thing that kept it from being worse.

Generally electric engines have a max RPM which they are intended to see. Going above this can damage the engine, I believe to some degree this is what was limiting your speed, resistance in the engine built up while it was on.
It was likely trying to speed the scooter up at a slower speed than it was traveling causing resistance due to running far past spec, and acting kinda like motor braking would by downshifting.

    • @GainingDespair
      @GainingDespair ปีที่แล้ว

@@alexgivideos1965 Essentially, electric motors work by producing magnetic fields, by switching polarities it causes the shaft to spin. They produce a lot for torque while operating, however there is a max speed which they can switch polarity.
Above this the engine is still switching polarity at the max possible speed but the jet motor is forcing the rotor to push past this (some positive, negative, but also some positive, positive, and negative, negative).
This wouldn't/shouldn't effect the motor before it reaches its switching speed, but past it, it will cause resistance on the rotor. By turning the electric motor off this problem doesn't occur (to the same degree) if it remains permanently attached at the drive shaft.
In fact it should function as alternator while off recharging the battery some.

    • @ahaveland

Problem I see here with the horizontal cylinders, is that all the fuel runs to the front when braking, so the engine would starve of fuel.
There's a reason that motorcycle fuel tanks have the size, shape and location that they have.
It's difficult to improve on decades of evolution that have already found optimal forms.
