hey but in the opening 1:15 you said you are worried to play knight c3 because of bishop b4. But computer says its okay after play a3, Bxc3, bxc3.. black should not take e4 cause of queen g4 ! and white should be better even because the bad pawn structure.. is that just hard to play with white (only computer can be better with white) or is this getting played at top niveau? thanks if you would answer me.
At 14:52, I think you could have mated him with a Knight sacrifice, getting rid of his G7 pawn, for then to move your queen into the G file, and then further attacking him with you dark bishop. Am I wrong ...? I think I see a forced check mate in some 3-4 moves here ...?
In any pin involving a knight and bishop, can someone explain to me when the defender advances his pawn, when it is good to take the knight and when it is good to retreat one square? And why when the retreat happens moving your other pawn is considered a bad move?
If the bishop is pinning the king's knight, let us say it is white who is pinning black, in most cases the additional pawn move ...g5 crucially weakens the king's positions (in most games people castle short). As for whether you want to capture, it depends on why you played the pin in the first place. If you want control over the light squares in the center (probably to play e4 or something) then capture, but in most cases retreating maintains that pressure anyways and doesn't surrender the bishop pair. Hope this helps!
I thought it might have something to do with the king's safety. So if g5 is played is the damage already done, and you retreat (losing tempo) or is it better to capture the pawn (allowing the rook to be freed) What I have been doing is capturing the knight to damage the pawn structure when black threatens the weaker bishop.
It is a case by case basis on what exactly needs to be evaluated. Too hard over YT comments to explain thoroughly. I'd highly recommend watching ChessNetworks beginner to master series
Hey Denes, I like what you bring to us! Just please consider repeating correct solutions from the class in your words instead of just "Yes" because we can not really hear what they said. Thanks!
All the chess video's from here are "guess the next move". I don't find it that helpful as a beginner. I guess wrong and that's the end. Is this the only way to learn? I saw some cool video's about key squares and critical squares on another site and that helped me ALOT.
there is nothing special in the game 12:12...The opponent made a huge blunder with the rook in C8! He should defend with Bishop C6 protect the Rook A8 ,after he attacks with Kc4 the Rook A3 and control many positions or if the white's Bishop D3 takes the Kc4 then black takes with pon c4 and goes to get a queen in C file and black has a big advantage. Grandmasters make their wins look extraordinary super talented but it is not in many cases.
BITS20000 Not if you are 6 years old and don't even know how to castle. These kids can't calculate to or even recognize a positional advantage. You need to know what a good position is, and how to capitalize on it before you sacrifice your pieces trying to get one. Also what is up with the adhoms? It's bad enough that you have to use them in a chess video, let alone the redundancy of "stupid moron." Can you describe to me a moron who isn't stupid? I'm assuming English is not your first language because of your grammar and vocabulary, so I won't nazi you further than that.

I think this is the Master-Class. This man's a genius.
This guy looks like MVL lol
He is MVL's stunt double.

Great idea, but all the squares on the G file your queen can go to are controlled by the black pieces !
great lecture, but it seemed a little too fast-paced and advanced for a kids class.
Very nice class!
Tks

22:02 if he calculated mate in 3 with pawn sacrifice, he should also have calculated Q sacrifice, so it's mate in 4 actually
Where is finegold?
I miss his amazing terrible jokes.
Could someone tell me if Ben Finegold will be back?

Great class but im not sure if kids enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this vid, probably because I'm a kid at heart
I wouldn't exactly call those "positional sacrifices"... :p
Ben Finegold is preparing against this guy... Grrrrrrrrr!!!
He looks like Mvls cousin or something lol
These kids cant even defend against scholar's mate and you're trying to teach them positional sacrifices? Are you kidding me?
what is the problem, stupid moron? know positional sacrifice is good for everyone
